I can't get over that Korea actually tries to uphold rules and they actually try to punish people. Like they don't even want match fixers to be able to stream? That's so alien... No, but most judicial law systems consider the punishment for a crime when convicted be harsher than the direct consequences of that crime. If punishment was based purely on remunerating the direct tangible consequences then all semblance of tort and judicial jurisdiction breaks down. Partial justification for this is that: what is considered unlawful or immoral often have irreversible consequences well beyond the initial scope of the problem. If the most influential and popular representatives of any institution or social group is found to be corrupt it is no exaggeration to say that there would be severe consequences and reverberations for that entire group or institution. I want to put this in a more local perspective, when I'm on TL browsing and I see news of match fixing, and I read comments from this community that I'm supposedly a part of, I'm startled by many of the opinions I can see. These events become flash points in dividing the community and do actually lead people away from the sport. As somebody who cared enough for BW to participate in local outreach in another country, I actually feel ashamed that people defend matchfixing with their cynical pragmatism as if this is all humanity could strive to be. My opinions and my influence in the community might not matter at all, but it's easy for me to see how people would be turned away from a hobby due to shit like this. | ||

Did they though? Edit: Found it. They did. "Just" the KeSPA controlled ones. As part of the ban, all his titles and achievements won under KeSPA's governance were vacated, including sAviOr's three MSL and one OSL title. His international achievements, such as at BlizzCon, however, were not under KeSPA's jurisdiction and thus unaffected. | ||

As far as i know all the SL he won have no winner today and he was remove from the hall of fame. I agree with Keemy that this thread should be locked too while we wait for real information. | ||

Lance Armstrong admits to doping and loses all his shit. How should it be different for E-sport athletes? Match fixing and gambling are some of the worst blight on competitive sport in all areas. You throw matches for money, you don't deserve to be called a champion, thats it. You harm the game as a whole, it cheapens the competitive aspect of it all because of greed. He won those tournaments, yes, but he should be stripped of his titles. If he was really a champion he would give his all, all the time, in every competion and wouldn't let third parties who are out to make a profit have influence on that. The reasons why you analogy doesn't work, it should be obvious, without me having to say it, but I'll say it anyways. Murder only has immediate victims, barring the grief the loved ones feel, it doesn't ruin it for everyone else like match fixing competitions does. You don't get charged for extra murders or blamed for killing more people if you didn't do it. It doesn't work retroactively and you aren't awarded for doing so in the first place so there isn't an incentive to do it. Life and Co. Or whoever else is involved with this fuck it up for people who do give there best and pour thousands of hours into this game for it to be legit. This is spitting in their face. | ||

We may not get more information in ages if the earlier part of this investigation is anything to go by. We may never get the full story. If that match I (re-)linked that was voided is fixed it was done reasonably subtly in my eyes. The game deciding drop and a follow up was done around 10 minutes. Life just had most of his queens out spreading creep when a marine/hellion drop that he had nothing to scout came in. It was elevatored to the edge of his main base where creep didn't reach. The drop did lots of damage and eliminated a spore crawler so that the banshee followup got more done than it otherwise could've. Life's reaction times to the harrass seemed within ranges that are possible in a normal game and he didn't do anything out of the ordinary when reacting to them. | ||
