In 2012/13/14 etc. (my memory isn't 100% on this) but I'm quite sure the seeds of the previous year carried over, at least the top 8. It's also even more important this time because there will be no Code A. Literally they've gone from finalists to off the radar for 4 months simply because of a new format change.. ridiculous Why are you so mad? KT's best toss is still in SSL and Proleague..

In BW, players were treated to no balance changes for the last decade of the game, with balance being tweeked slightly by maps and meta. In SC2, there are new strategies being born and destroyed constantly by things completely out of the players' control. It's nigh impossible to stay on top of a game that fluctuates with this much volatility - indeed, Blizzard ensures this by nerfing anything that appears to become too strong. Innovation was knocked down in 2013 after Blizz nerfed hellbats as a direct response to his & Flash's usage of the unit. There has to be some protection for the big guys from going down like this. What would you propose as the fairest solution for the people that were forced to return to Korea despite placing at the top of their chosen WCS regions the season before? The WCS EU/AM top 8 had no choice, they had to come to Korea and participate in the qualifiers. It's rough, but I think it was fairest to equalize the playing field and make everyone do that.

Maybe top8 KR seeded + standard Code A with 48 slots (= top3 from qualifiers instead of top2) into 24 players qualifying to Code S could have worked as well

They shouldn't have been made to come back in the first place. Blizzard fucks around with its stupid WCS season every year and messes a tonne of players around doing so, and there's no evidence that this is going to be any better than 2014. If you're going to take responsibility for managing the entire e-sports system, taking a tonne of power off KeSPA and co, do it properly.

But failing that - there should at least be a Code A where AM/EU/KR top 8 are guaranteed to be placed somewhere in the system. You can't simultaneously expand the playing field and reduce the tournament's size at the same time.

Incidentally, three of the four matches that led to sOs's elimination were 2-1 losses at the hands of Curious, who knocked him out of the winner's bracket of the SSL qualifier as well as both the winner's and loser's brackets of the GSL qualifier... that's some shitty luck if you ask me. Zest found himself knocked out mostly by zergs, with a 2-0 loss to Rogue as well as 2-1 losses to Leenock and DeParture (with a 2-1 loss to SKT's T Dream to thank as well) in addition to a loss to Symbol in the SSL Wildcard Bracket. soO, on the other hand, was knocked out by Bbyong, San, PartinG, and Rogue (with an additional loss to YongHwa in the Wildcard Bracket). Other well-known players who failed to qualify for BOTH individual leagues include but are not limited to: jjakji, HerO, Stork, Trap, HyuN, DongRaeGu, TRUE, and Symbol. There is a (surprisingly high, at least to me) total of TWENTY players who successfully qualified for BOTH individual leagues, a list that includes 7 protosses, 8 terrans, and 5 zergs and is as follows: Dear, herO, PartinG, San, Super, Terminator, YongHwa Dream, FanTaSy, GuMiho, INnoVation, MarineKing, Maru, TaeJa, TY Dark, Life, Rogue, Solar, Soulkey As it stands currently, the team demographics of the 64 slots that make up the two individual leagues is like this: 8 SKT, 7 JinAir, 5 CJ, 5 MVP, 5 YoeFW, 4 Invasion eSport, 4 KT, 4 Samsung, 4 StarTale, 3 Dead Pixels, 2 Acer, 2 Liquid, 2 Prime, 2 TCM, 1 Axiom, 1 Dignitas, 1 iG, 1 mYi, 1 RedBull, and finally 2 'teamless' Interesting post. Indeed 3 losses to Curious from sOs, two of them decisive. T_T I remember Curious for being the zerg that beat innovation at the top of his form for in the qualifiers for IEM NY (http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/IEM_Season_VIII_-_New_York/Asia_Final_Qualifier, it was also the first appearance for Zest as far as I'm concerned). At that moment I thought he'd be a new thing but he more or less disappeared (?). Here again in ZvP mode.
