No, but as an spectator I feel that all games of this tournament besides the finals will be less meaningful than if a player increased their prize for every match they won.

You still have almost 11 guys going home empty handed anyway. Maybe they get $500. But is that going to pay the bills? I think the problem is just there's not enough money to put into it. E-sports isn't really viable until guys who never win tournaments can make a decent living. how the top 1-5 players split their money won't really affect the rest of the scene IMO. Why are you assuming so many things? At IEM everybody always got money, at least 600$ for the last place at normal IEMs and 1.4k at the WC. Winner got 30k, it was the best distribution in the scene, IEM always was the most fair and rational tournament when it came to prize money. It doesn't make sense.

If I am a professional player - who in most cases - evaluates tourneys based on prize payout and competition...why the HELL would I spend my precious time flying out to a tournament where only one person - 99% a top level Korean - is going to take ALL 100k? I'm sorry, but a tourney isn't made by its prize-pool, and this does nothing to foster talent whatsoever. It's just a payout to a player who has very likely done very well this year and is rounding up another bundle of cash. Tourneys are forgetting...cash does not a memorable tourney make.

This reminds me of Soso talking about how Thresh won all this many playing Doom/Quake whatever, but how can you keep trying to support yourself like that when if you make it to the final and lose then you can only afford to live in your parents' basement. The funny thing is that I feel this is going in the opposite direction. The pay needs to be more for most of the field at these events and at times less for the winners. Of course there has been a shift in that direction since the earliest GOM tournaments.

NOT GO. Wholly fuck your all acting like this is the standard here. It's a one off thing that they're trying. In reality are any of you not going to watch it? Probably not, so why the fuck does it matter. Every time anyone tries to do something slightly different in the community people bring out the pitch forks without even thinking about what the fuck they're saying. Just let them do what they're going to do and if it sucks. Fair enough ... bitch. But not giving them the chance before even giving it a go ..... grow up guys.
