This will make the final really boring too, since they players will split the prize money 100% and it doesn't really matter who wins. Exactly the opposite of what they want with this I guess.

It's weird as IEM was to most rational organization concerning prize money distribution so far, with every player getting 600$ at least. They went from the least top heavy to the other extreme

I personally think this is fine as long as the tournament is a small number of players, which it is going to be. If it was a larger number of players than all the games played to get nothing would be silly, with 16 players it is nice. Besides it is not like ALL the tournaments are going to be like this, just the grand finals.

first place 50.000 second 30.000 third and fourth 2x10.000 sounds better. 100.000k for the winner and the others dont get anything at all? what motivation you would have if you know that your gonna get only second or third place? plus many players dont have that much money but are still very skilled. then they get second place but dont get any money at all.
and the winner is probably a cheeser who knows that he doesnt have a chance in macro games

MLG is back. GSL is back in form. WCS is awesome and leaves room for other. Shoutcraft is running a team league.

And IEM just threw down with 100k and plane tickets to fight over it. It's a good day to be a Starcraft fan.

When it comes to players, there is just no way this is good.

To the cats that have posted here already i think this should be a helpful link www.kleenex.com. Oh noes only one player gets paid out of a free expense paid tournament!?!?!?! Killing e-sports!!!! I think it's a brilliant idea, it shouldn't become the standard but one tournament a year with single elim and a massive payout is going to make for some entertaining sc2. Honestly tho, most of you just bitch for the sake of bitching and it's really turning the community into a bit of a joke.

I just hope this was made clear to all players and teams ahead of time, unless all accommodations are being paid for that risk doesn't seem worth the money unless the exposure the tournaments gets is massive. Would have much preferred them to consolidate just the first and second place prize winnings in a winner take all if they really felt the need to do this.

Also, everyone qualifying will get all expenses paid, and 10 of the 16 players already have an atleast 4k prize from the other IEM.

But whatever you do IEM, please dont invite any players, let them qualify.

I'm all for players colluding and splitting the pot here. Question is the collusion has to be under the table and only the winner will get paid, so what happens if he doesn't keep his end of the bargain? The 2nd place person can't go public because then they would be admitting to pot splitting right?
