It's a fairness issue, we can't just straight boot them out, right? Oh there's too many Koreans, you're all kicked out. We hope you find a new home somewhere else.' And they have to start from scratch? They could've still kicked everyone out. In every region, every player, everyone starts from zero. Then it's still fair. But' I'm glad they didn't. This will raise the level of play in EU and AM, especiallly with koreans laddering on those servers for the 200 needed wins to participate in the wildcard qualifier.

I said it in the other thread, but I really hope they will change 3-4 maps per season instead of just 2

The difference between 1st and 2nd is usually mind games. That seems way too ridiculous imo. It should be more like 60k/25k. Prize pools in general have always been ridiculously top heavy. Look at The International and how $1,000,000 out of the $1,600,000 prize pool was distributed to the champions or how in NASL Seasons 1 and 2 $80,000 out of the $100,000 prize pool was allocated to the top 4 with $40,000 alone going to the winner. This is something which could be fixed in eSports to financially support the underdogs.

If so, maybe 2 new maps every season with 1 new map mid-season would be a good compromise. Yeah that sounds good to me. I think changing three at the same time could be difficult. Three might be okay but probably not four. Mid-season switching I think would be a big benefit. It also reduces the amount of time we'd have to wait to pull a map that's turns out fairly broken. That could allow bigger risks with the maps, as well. Two new per season can't possibly be enough. We'd end up with less than 15 different maps throughout the year inclduding old ones. Maybe closer to 10. A good year should have more like 25 imo. With three seasons and two new maps each it's only six new maps for an entire year.

How can you have diverse maps if you pass a rule banning diverse WCS events from using diverse map sets?

How can we have an interesting, diverse map pool like Kespa managed in Proleague if we ban interesting, diverse maps that aren't "standard" enough for ladder? How can you have diverse maps if you pass a rule banning diverse WCS events from using diverse map sets? Well we can't just compare it to proleague. That's a team league, and it actually still exists and can do whatever it wants with maps. Team leagues should be doing more diverse things with maps than individual leagues, of course. Having a standard map pool across all normal individual leagues isn't such a bad thing. I took another quick look at some numbers yesterday. If you compare it to some of the big years in BW... yeah, we're talking around 25-30 maps used in competition across a year. But if you cut out team leagues and invitationals it's not as many. In 2007 I counted 16 I think, seven of which had been used in previous years and nine of which were introduced during the year. 08 and 09 are probably more (at least 08) but it would be hard to say matching 07 wouldn't be acceptable, at least for 2014 considering where we've been in previous years of SC2. I think the amount of new maps introduced is probably the number to look at here so that's only nine in a year, meaning we'd need three new maps per season to match it. Maybe twelve (four maps per season) would be closer to 08 or 09. A direct comparison doesn't show everything, of course. Even if we introduced three new maps per season, which with seven maps in at a time that's only 13 maps total, not 16, since the ones removed before the first season wouldn't really count as being played that year. That may or may not have been the case for any given tournaments in BW depending on the scheduling and when exactly the maps were switched out and everything... It wasn't a uniform pool and it wasn't lined up directly with the calendar year. Point being we can't really compare those directly, but I thought the numbers could be useful since we're often referring to the BW map pools when asking for more new maps in SC2. Looking at only individual leagues with qualification (the equivalent of what would be restricted to the ladder pool in 2014 I think) helps, and it shows that things aren't actually so bad. Some people are asking for 4-6 new maps per season but that seems like a lot. I think we should push for 3-4. I'd be really happy if we could get three new maps per season this year and see how that goes. Remember proleague and all team leagues can still add their own maps, and I could see Red Bull doing more invitationals with different maps. Edit: Three is still %50 more than two. I'm still complaining.

1. Seeing by WCS point rankings (for helping the top players make it through more regularly) 2. Offline Group selections (for entertainment purposes) Also, it would be nice if every tournament that gives WCS points has some sort of WCS rank seeing as well.

Ideally at least one would be non-standard too in some important way.
