I also don't understand why the Lawyer was voted as the second strongest player right now. She's assertive, and she killed the lion... but that's really it. After that she's either getting help in the death match or getting help to not go to the death match.
I have to say, the former congressman is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. I want him to go really far, haha. + Show Spoiler + Not only is she assertive and a death match survivor, the lawyer has her diploma and is known for winning a quiz show in Korea (it was shown in the intro), all of which solidifies her image as being really smart and therefore a strong player. She is one of my favorites so far, having shown enough people skills and fighting spirit to be saved from the last two death matches, even though she was clearly in risk of being picked. I love how fierce she is.
Eunryul's betrayal didn't make much sense. He was right in trying to disassemble the broadcasting trio, but the invidividual risks he took were too big. If he already suspected that Hongchul and Jinwo would work together, he couldn't make a plan that would rely entirely in Hongchul not disclosing he was the betrayer. Still, he would be able to survive this week if Jinwo made the logical choice of picking Boxer (weakest in the group) as a death match opponent. I felt that Jinwo took a big risk in facing someone who had guaranteed allies, but most likely Jinwo already had locked Dohee and pretty girl on his side before making the pick.
Yellow continues to be a BEAST, tricking sangmin with the piles and sticking to honor in defending Eunryul's. Easily the strongest player in both seasons. Thank you for the subs! What a fantastic show! + Show Spoiler +Exactly! Why disclose your plan of attempting to eliminate the three broadcasters in front of one of them! It was really stupid and he even has the nerve to ask why Hongchul mentioned about the deal. Of course you just said out loud your threat to throw them out. What are you expecting? Eunkyul should've known better than that.
TBH if he wanted not to get picked for the death match, he should've just focused on winning for their team and try to eliminate Jiwon some other round. That would be the smarter move and not to make yourself some jerk who betrays his own team so carelessly. If Eunkyul wanted the help of the winning team, he should've been more rational that letting his anger take its course.
The reason why he betrayed his team isn't really justifiable. Wanting to eliminate a person even before the game started? That's some grudge you got there.
And I think it was very decent of Jiwon to only leave 11 chips in the end, also betting where Eunkyul was betting despite it being wrong. Since he already was sure where Doohee was betting, He could've had 300 chips by the end and Eunkyul with nothing at all since he went all in. (Could be he's securing himself though if ever Doohee lied lol)
And hopefully based on the preview, it's individual based game.. hmmm.. Doohee is really adorable and it's funny how he programmed the messenger software. + Show Spoiler + The part about jiwon betting on doohee was just a 100% victory. It doesnt matter if doohee lied or not, as long as u have a lead when you are the follower you are 100% to win
+ Show Spoiler +Yup. What I mean is he could've followed Doohee's advice and go for star as he said. But he decided to leave only 11 chips for himself (with still an obvious win) and followed Eunkyul's bet (the sun) instead of tripling it by going for star.

+ Show Spoiler +There is no reason to win 300 chips, right? But to follow Eunkyul all in is a safe way. If Eunkyul was correct, Jiwon still have more garnet than him. If Eunkyul is wrong, he wins. About Donghee, Hongchul just lie to Eunkyul right? Donghee might do the same too, there is uncertainty since Donghee is @ the opposite team, the team Eunkyul helping. Sigh... Episode 3 is so fun to watch, making me anticipate episode 4. U see betrayal, then u see the disadvantage team winning (Plus Yellow starpower ) . U see Sangmin angry and dance, Hongchul charisma, Yellow leader, BoxeR so sad. And u always wonder the brilliance behind Yellow team. Episode 4, same story as episode 3 again.. But the justification for Eunkyul betrayer feel so weak & ?????, compare to last week. And he actually plan to betray from the start, and the win is happned so fast, there is nothing much to see. Only fun thing for me is when Yellow team kill 3 people. making me excited, then the game just ends the next round. And then the spoiler, making it worse, turn out there is somebody betraying, and the reason because he wan Jiwon to be @ the deathmatch. It feels like, writing composition story, and in the end u just write, AND THEN I WOKE UP, JUST A DREAM. Bah... I always anticipated Yellow vs BoxeR or something. I hope Episode 5 we see something like that.

I was thinking. If they do a season 3, they should add a rule where at the start of the season each player is is given one other player as a secret target. If you're still in the game when your target gets eliminated, you gain 10 garnets (or something like that). It'll give players some motivation to form rivalries and increase tension.

This is such an evil yet brilliant idea!!! I read it and sat there for a second then just lost it laughing at all the really crazy shit this would cause.

Jiwon was smart, he went for 100% win by betting on sun cause regardless if its sun moon star, he wins. Shows he also does not trust doohee when he can trust his calculations

With the current rules, Garnets are irrelevant unless you win the whole thing; so no matter what values or how many garnets you add into the game, everyone's ultimate goal is still to be the sole winner. So that rule of yours makes 0 difference; because if you were to win any garnets at all, you would have to be the champion... which by default, means you have eliminated your target while you're still in the game. (I guess it'll help a bit if theres a game where it allows you to spend your garnet to buy clues or something)
I agree the way garnets are now is kinda lame imo, cuz right now, the value of garnet seems irrelevant, everyone is just throwing them around to survive/bribing people. They should make it something like, the loser keeps 1/3 of what garnet he has when he gets eliminated or something.

+ Show Spoiler +Exactly! That's why I said he could also be securing himself in case Doohee lied. By the end, the sun, moon, star game is still about the players tactic of how the player would like to handle the betting, passing and what have you. You may have alliances but you can't still be too sure how much to trust those people. And that's why calculating the odds is also important. He wasn't being greedy by going for a landslide win of 300 chips but the safer and a pretty decent route of only 11 chips vs Eunkyul's 0 chip. :D
About Hongchul and Jiwon being in the show
+ Show Spoiler +If anyone's curious why Hongchul and Jiwon are in the show. It's not just because they are popular tv personalities. Hongchul has mentioned in the presscon that both of them are known for their characters in variety shows. Hongchul as a con artist in Infinity Challenge and Jiwon (he was nicknamed Genius Won in the show) as the smart guy of 1 Night 2 Days. Also Doohee said he thought Jiwon only had a genius streak on broadcast, etc...
The Genius previews has always been misleading. The only thing you get out of them are the would be games. But the rules and the results turn out to be always different..

Oh, so yooyoung will be in the death match again by the 5th episode? Is that what was written in the previous spoilers? I've read those but already forgotten. lol I always watch the raw immediately right after it aired and last week I also followed the livestream since waiting for who gets in the death match is killing me!
Btw, anyone here who watches Sherlock? It's just that some of the music from its soundtrack is also being used in the show and I love it.

everyone here is right about the betrayal of Eunkyul. I felt the same way and had the same though process of Jinho. You just dont do that.. i dont feel bad for him necessarily but its really disgusting to see them basically give him away little by little as if his contribution did nothing for them. if they didnt want his deal, they shouldnt have LET HIM CHEAT FOR THEM or NOT AGREE TO HIS PLANS!!!!
but what bugs me more.... are these stupid "Deathmatches", where its now become more of a popularity contest. I wholeheartedly believe the producers pull out the "SUN MOON STAR" game whenever a popular contestant goes to the deathmatch.
**** If you guys didnt know this before, but noh hongchul and jiwon are both really famous in korean television. i know people in this thread only see him as the guy in the gangnam style music video, but he is actually on... lets say ryan seacrests level of fame in korea in terms of exposure. so while 80% of these other contestants here are really nobodies, hes actually a huge star of the show. so its not a coincedence as to why you guys like him so much... he also DOES have great charisma and personality.
ji won is also really popular and could be the second most famous person on the show right now. hes been in so many tv shows already with other famous people in korea and is really funny (he plays that "im kind of slow" character a lot). side note hes related to the last korean president which could also be why hes so rich...
so while someo f you might not have seen them before this season, but i was geniunely surprised they managed to get 2 of these stars onto the show. that also really explains why i believe the producers (and by now you should realize they always choose which deathmatch game gets to be played at the END of the episode, not preset) choose the sun moon star game. it has no luck. theres VERY LITTLE SKILL involved, which is only the bluffing aspect. but that will not affect the outcome so much as to help you win. the OTHER PLAYERS practically choose who they want to have stay. OBVIOUSLY the majority of people will help jiwon, not only because eunkyul backstabbed his team, but because jiwon has MORE FRIENDS, MORE POPULAR, (not to mention, would you look at how that lawyer ALWAYS goes to the side with the first deathmatch contestant to make sure she doesnt get picked???? even when she gets picked for DM, she does her puppy eyes and tries to gains everyone support. reminds me on kyungran from season 1 all the time..) and bottom line he is MORE FAMOUS than the magician. and trust me.. koreans feel the same way about illusionists in korea the same way we do here in the us with MINDFREAK CHRIS ANGEL or DAVID ZOMGMAGIC COPPERFIELD.. its kind of corny.
bottom line the deathmatches seem to be brought out whenever a star of the show is in jeopardy. and theres nothing genius about it at all. in fact it ruins the future episodes as now as someone pointed out there is going to be a more tightly knit team of those same group of people and kind of destroys the fun. too bad it probably wont beused as a deathmatch anymore because its getting into the mid stages of the season and they cant keep pulling it off. yes im bitter. not because i liked the magician (like i said, i think theyre corny), but they AGREED to his proposition when they followed his plans, and they all except yellow and junghyun intentionally gave him away when jiwon had to choose his opponent.
beyond that, yellow looks to be in strong contention to win again. its shocking to see how much of a joke boxer is. i wont sugar coat it, sorry guys. but boxer plain isnt the genius we expected him to be.
What does corny means? Is it something positive or negative?

I heard it in the first episode (also the bts where the lion killed the hyena) and also somewhere in the second episode.. I've already forgotten about the 3rd and 4th. But yeah, I often hear it especially when rewatching some eps.
EDIT: I just checked. Also somewhere in the 3rd episode's death match.

bottom line the deathmatches seem to be brought out whenever a star of the show is in jeopardy. and theres nothing genius about it at all. in fact it ruins the future episodes as now as someone pointed out there is going to be a more tightly knit team of those same group of people and kind of destroys the fun. too bad it probably wont beused as a deathmatch anymore because its getting into the mid stages of the season and they cant keep pulling it off. yes im bitter. not because i liked the magician (like i said, i think theyre corny), but they AGREED to his proposition when they followed his plans, and they all except yellow and junghyun intentionally gave him away when jiwon had to choose his opponent.
beyond that, yellow looks to be in strong contention to win again. its shocking to see how much of a joke boxer is. i wont sugar coat it, sorry guys. but boxer plain isnt the genius we expected him to be. What does corny means? Is it something positive or negative? Corny kinda means like. Cheesy. It's typically seen as negative, but it can be somewhat positive in certain stances.
I am kind of baffled. I feel corny is negative too, but I saw David Copperfield name. I thought people will use positive thing to describe David Copperfield.
Bah actually, + Show Spoiler +As much as I dislike Eunkyul doing so random, or high level stuff (to eliminate Jiwon in this episode).
But Yooyoung giving him away to Yoonsun, & reasoning shouldn't help Eunkyul to the end because his help is not deciding.
I just feel, Yooyoung wan Eunkyul to be eliminated because she finds him two timing very bad/irritating. And forgot his contribution. I just feel Yooyoung downplay Eunkyul contribution to justify her motive.
It is forget the kindness & repay with evil.

+ Show Spoiler +Everyone in the winning team wants Yoonsun in the death match at the beginning. It's what the apparent plan is. But Eunkyul reminds them of the deal (he badly wants Jiwon out in the death match). They're trying to reason that they'd help them instead if he ever gets chosen for the death match by Yoonsun but that's not the deal Eunkyul paid for. He eventually gets worked up and began disclosing his plan of wanting to eliminate the broadcasters which then put him on the bad side of majority of the winning team. (the biggest mistake Eunkyul did in my opinion) I think he stopped thinking straight the moment he found out they don't want jiwon in the death match. He made himself such a threat that brought his downfall. He betrayed his team who believed in him, but then eventually gets betrayed by the people he believed in.
I was thinking he could've done a better and much cleaner job at the betrayal. But, hey, I'm not the one in the game so I'm not really the person to speak.
Three people I'm rooting for in this show is Doohee, Junghyun and Jiwon.. and well Jinho too but he already won the first season. I also want Yohwan to show more of what he can do. I want to see the actual rivalry do its play.

everyone here is right about the betrayal of Eunkyul.

+ Show Spoiler +Hanlon's razor... I'm pretty sure she never initially intended to give Eunkyul away to Yoonsun, it's a silly mistake, hence her facial reaction after Yoonsun pointed the mistake out. (Remember, I did call her a silly, maybe blooper is better, genius earlier). Though, given that, she definately didn't seem to handle it properly afterward, as Yellow pointed out aswell.
Guess Eunkyul put her off too much when Eunkyul explained his reasonings for betraying his team, and in the manner he did so.
I take it I'm not the only one waiting for a 'genius' moment like Yellow had during 'Open, Pass' (s1e07)? Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy the show, but it's more due to being quite funny, instead of 'true genius' moments.

+ Show Spoiler +Yoo young seemed to think that Eunkyul betrayal was not very decisive, since she's in charge of the defender (and killed 2 people by intuition) after the politician killed 3 people (including Eunkyul), and I think she's been into Eunjiwon since ep 1, she didn't kill him right away because she was *bored*, and she preferred him over NohHongChul at the beginning of ep 4). Regarding to DM, actually Eunkyul had the most garnets among the losing team, so there's still some justification to select him.

+ Show Spoiler +Thats wrong. She intentionally gave away eunkyul, along with doohee when jiwon was confirmed to be the candidate. So obvious it was media personality alliance acting just like season1.
I read in isubs forum korean netizens are making a furore over episode 4. Also that the PD of genius tweeted something about episode 4 to justify or something. Watever it is, I hope the later episode games really get better.
If only boxer speaks more and be funnier....
