kind of does those guys a disservice with the waiving or maybe it's just the kespa ruleset
but it seems archaic that a player is waived because of the team's financial issues is still treated like he was waived like he was garbage. 2 weeks to find a team when everyone in kespa has either a) finalized their rosters or b) aren't exacly deep in the pockets either is going to be a tough sell for the released players.
hopefully they give them the exception and make them eligible to play in proleague if they don't sign before 2 weeks from now

o.O Zero teamless? Where is my Purple Prince to go?
Free/Pretty Teamless too o.O
Never thought I'd see the day both these great players let go by Woongjin, even if Woongjin have been in financial trouble for like a 2 years.

Can we all agree Destiny was at least 90% right, now? We can? Sweet!
That said, sucks for the players.

Why would anybody care if a nobody was right about something?

Stx Soul vs Wongjin Stars was the final of Proelague this season, KeSPA's (who is supposed to be a corporation that gets sponsors with the help of the goverment etc) prime and only tournament. Now they are pretty much disbanded teams.

This thread is full of "omg these players were so good" comments followed by confusion at their release. I'll quote Ret from "Liquid Rising" here on people repeatedly referring to him as "talented". "Talent is just another way to say unrealized potential."
These players may very well be talented, and much more so than some of the players who remain. However with that perception of talent likely comes higher salaries. If you go down the line none of them have any massive successes to tout. They may be talented but if they're not delivering return greater than the amount of money that's being put into them - is it a wonder why they were cut while potentially lower-cost players remain to fill out the roster?
These teams are businesses, and given the fact that StarCraft isn't the only game on the block anymore they have to make better use of their resources. That may mean a lot of talented players who haven't yet delivered results lose opportunities on higher profile teams. However, is that any different than any other sport? Take baseball for example - if a talented prospect repeatedly fails to perform - eventually they'll lose their opportunity. Maybe they'll go elsewhere, maybe they'll play at a lower level. One way or another things have to change.
Is StarCraft the premier pro-game in the world today? No, it's not. That doesn't mean it's dead. StarCraft is so ridiculously over-saturated it's nearly impossible to grasp actual viewership numbers. It's ridiculous to think StarCraft will be #1 forever simply because it's your favorite game. It will rise and fall as will LoL and DotA in the years to come. Teams that are built on shaky ground [specifically teams that aren't diversified in terms of revenue] will fail. That's just how business works.
