So WHY invest in sc2? MLG good job, nobody can blame you guys for making a sensical decision SC2 recently had +200.000 viewers at an MLG.
I already wrote someone off about such numbers in a LR for the Grand Finals. Don't make bust out the hickory stick on you too lol.

Lol, what are you smoking? It had like 120k PEAK. Nowhere even close to 200k. 2011 MLG in 2011 had like 150k peak, stop taking numbers from thin air.

What happened? It was looking so good for SC2, games are more exciting now than ever, the best players are winning finally.

I feel that MLG actually does have plans for SC2 at MLG, they're just pretending they don't to stir some shit.

SC2 has no future on the big stage in EU and NA if we keep playing out Top 16 Korean brackets.
20k hardcore fans who go nuts no matter who plays as long as the ingame moves are awesome are not enough to support the scene. We need the guys who tune in once a month for the big show at MLG/Dreamhack etc. These guys want to see players like Idra, Stephano, Grubby, Naniwa, Incontrol, MC, Flash and Jaedong. They need storylines which are super easy to follow, they dont need Top 20 random Korean bullshit.
When will you finally get that? Every single mainstream competition in the western world works like that. Grouping Incontrol with Flash? lol
Would draw 10x the viewers for the first round than Eo Yoon Su vs Kim Min Hyuk, yes.

I think eventually, SC2 will flatline in the US, with WCS NA produced by NASL and payed for by blizzard being the exception. And it's meant to be, there is almost no pro scene, crowds are not overwhelming, and timezones put the viewership down. MLG never was the best tournament for me, very often it was a few Korean stars crushing the rest, a few B koreans putting a good show sometimes, and foreigners that were already in the US getting crushed. So, if MLG goes away, i won't cry. Maybe it's just me, but i never liked their production style.
I feel the SC2 world will have two scenes. Top pros battling out in korea. Second tier koreans/ legends battling against foreigners in Europe. Viewership has shifted towards Europe anyways. And with the exemple one of the biggest seated hall in Paris sold out with the iron squid, for SC only, orthe dreamhacks looking strong everytime, i don't see SC2 going away soon. If the scene struggles, we will just cut a little the prizepools, they all go to the same 10 people anyways.

It would obviously suck if MLG would drop SC2 but I've seen pretty decent viewer numbers for WCS EU this week; So please refrain on the "SC2 is dying" please.

SC2 needs some kind of big infusion, otherwise it will die, and with the massive fails of Blizzard in terms of their WCS and the game being really boring and lonely to play, i can't say they don't deserve it, the had it coming honestly.
A big infusion? If HOTS and Blizzard launching WCS doesn't count as a big infusion in your book then i don't know how realistic your expectations are

Not shocking, last event felt like the last one considering how they basically had 0 info out and only released the info very late. Felt like they didn't wanna do it but kinda had too since people had bought flights etc already. Now they come out early and say hey don't book shit and then blame us.

Yep, publicity/marketing. Anyway, I'm not going to give this any more attention than need be because I know it's impossible to stop you guys from going over the top. Have fun though!

nothing happened, ppl are just making drama out of nothing

Doesn't make sense for them to cut out SC2 now. They really should only have two reasons for this: 1. something related to WCS and Blizzard or 2. they're planning something else for SC2 in particular.

Yeah, pretty sure this is the plan. Big sc2 events still bring in a big chunk of viewers, I don't see why they would abandon it.

Well if that is the case this may be the first MLG since 2008 that I won't watch live. They already kicked halo which I was originally tuning in for. I fall asleep watching moba and cod is the pinnacle of fucking up fps. Really really sad to see, but the event is still 3 months away.

You don't like MLG, then don't support them. its quite simple.

I agree. I can see them charging $10+ for in game tickets and other stupid nonsense already!

Yep, games have never been more exciting and the skill ceiling has never been higher BUT big surprise, thats not all people care about. (Apart from the hardcore TL fans)

Sc2 is sooooo dead. & e-sports. Was fun while it lasted. Go play soccer.

What will they have to replace it I wonder. SC II really drives there viewership numbers. Call of duty ghosts will be out, but CoD doesn't attract the numbers SC II does. Maybe the next Halo Maybe Dota 2? I would love to see more dota 2 lan events. I still really don't like how blizzard is handling the wcs.
WCS AM is all korean just about, which kills
