Good news for the Chinese players! I hope their ladder session isn't nearly as aggravating as mine, and that their banelings disintegrate Terran hope!

wait, so they didn't already have hots? didn't know that...

It's nice that WoL owners get it for free, but they did have to experience quite a delay in order to get that. Congrats to China on finally getting to play a pretty neat game.
|
I wish China would become a powerhouse in SC2.
|
sigh... only 25usd.... HotS is still too expensive for me =( srsly hope blizz throws a discount soon
|
No Global Play...
Well, not surprising but still sad.
Anyway hopefully we'll see more interest for SC2 in the Chinese scene, and more talent grow and develop. ^^

no global play... rofl.. China's Goverment is retarded ...

Huh... China is getting Hots for my Birthday.
You're Welcome China!!!

Nice Price Policy. and I mean it. With the rate of piracy there

The Chinese government actively censors the internet for it's citizens; a policy that many, many people strongly disagree with. China not getting global play is just one of a long laundry list of symptoms of that policy.
Edit: this post may not be correct. I originally assumed that it would be legal for Blizzard to implement global play, but that China's censorship firewall created too much lag. But now a user is saying that it would actually be illegal for Blizzard to implement global play in China. Please see the post below where I try to resolve the issue.

I thought that China's censorship firewall just created too much lag for global play to be possible, not that they actively prevented Blizzard from setting up global play. What exactly are the laws that server owners are subject to in China?

What exactly are the laws that server owners are subject to in China? Not true, mostly have nothing to do with firewall and stuff, it's just Blizzard and NetEase being conservative plus there are more non-political tech issues like payment and BN games stuff. DotA 2 which recently launched in China is right on the same Steam server playing with rest of the world.

no global play

Glad to see China able to get HotS I was actually thinking they wouldn't get it until the fall

The communist government has the power on everyone, they can choose who to kill or not, they also force abortions on women who often commit suicide after that. I know it doesn't have anything to do with the game itself, but it's just important to know, that we need to fight for our freedom against big governments that become corrupted. I pray China will have more freedom.

So stupid that there government can just say, "Sorry you no play with other people in the world". Shame on Blizzard for letting it happen. Just as bad as google saying, "Yes we will censor Chinese searches"
|
chinese government still pretty op...
|
But will it still be subscription based? That's one of the main reasons it isn't popularized yet I think :/

wow...I'm not surprised at all that they're getting it this late. I feel bad for mainland chinese people...(despite there being multiple ways around this)

China will never get global play, at least not in the forseeable future. Apparently there's something called "politics"...

Would be nice if the price policy extended to people who buy the game at north american prices. Just because a region of the world has a strong aversion to paying and a strong desire to pirate it does not entitle them to paying less than everyone else.

What about Hongkong ? do they follow the rest of china regarding something like this ?

Internet browsing is free in Hong Kong and they get first releases of games in English, usually not localized. I got my copy of SC2 in Hong Kong when it was first released globally instead of waiting for it to come out in Mainland China.

It's just that Chinese internet sucks, yes it's filtered by the government but the great firewall of China doesn't even add much latency. There are too many people for the infrastructure available, making everyone lag. No one wants to play with laggers and I think that Blizzard's decision isn't that bad.
When TL banned Chinese players from TSL did you also say "Shame on TL for letting it happen" ?

Last I've heard, SC2 community in China is really small these days, and the whole CN server is a hacker's server with not many people playing. Don't really think that HoTs will stir up anything in China, as far as I can tell..... there are too many MMOs and other games the younger generation enjoys.
And SC2 isn't net cafe friendly, you have to have your personal account to play, I see people on League of Legend almost every net cafe I went to in China, rarely do I see anyone on SC2.
Although I could be narrow sighted. So don't quote on me, but that's just how I feel.

Perfect World already obtained the distribution right within China from Valve. But yeah, LOL is huge in China, really doubt that Dota2 can compete with it at this point.
Also, its not exactly free Hots. You have to pay a monthly fee in order to play(I think it was about 20RMB a month). If you pay 90RMB which is about 15USD you will get both WoL and Hots lifetime subs. For people that already paid 90RMB to buy lifetime subs for WoL, they will get free lifetime Hots subs.
|
rofl.. dota 2 will be released then. sc2 has no place in china against dota 2.
|
Did they have to change most of the textures to pandas? Any screenies?
|
While the game is cheaper compared to the rest of the world, SC2 will still have a hard time going up against the release of Dota 2 (which would be free).
|
I live in China at the moment... Will I be able to play on the Chinese server, or would I have to buy a Chinese version of the game first?

You will be sure that they will pull every little string and tapes they can to delay dota from releasing as late as possible.
Would not even be surprised if something happens and dota 2 is delayed even further
|
it seems they have changed pricing a little bit also... i couldnt buy the 20 yuan a month subscriptiom... so i just bought the 90 yuan... T_T...
and yes the chinese server is still crappy as hell... just smashed a low gm while im in eu top diamond/lowmasters...

If you wanna play with lag, you can use your own account and choose the TW/KR region...
if you wanna play without lag, buy a game-card or your "chnese" paypal" to buy the game digitally... keep in mind you have to fill everything in like name, address, idnumber etc etc etc... I just "stole" one to play on the chinese server :D
