I'm surprised any of them still bother to sponsor eSports when they get so many whining fans.

So many losing two of their top known/seen players made them pull out? You're missing one really big one....the recent hero of all the Americas...who defeats the master race Korean Terran with ease....who in his spare time carries an entire university Starcraft team on his broad manly back...who was the sole North American in the round of 8 among a sea of Koreans (and came closest of anyone to knocking out eventual winner Parting)...while teammate "the Tyrant" Jaedong languishes in the Challenger Division ro40 he strides confidently towards the Premier ro16..the one, the only.... I can only speak for myself but Im really not into this tabloid mentality. Plus as a gent above stated, EG are much more than just an SC2 team, so how about we all show some respect for their other members of staff. Although we're all Starcraft fans, their LOL team & DOTA teams don't deserve this BS IMO, so let Reddit be Reddit. You say your an EG fan so I hope you agree. Plus this playground gossip mentality might mean that they re-evaluate many existing sponsorships across the whole e-sports spectrum. After all it could have been agreed 3-6 months ago and simply they've decided to let this contract run its course. FYI im a Liquid fan thats becoming worn down by every nerd that seemingly wants to work for TMZ and thinks this is exciting. Apologies in advance if i'm in the minority and no offence to the guy that wrote the OP. Sponsors will change teams and the terms of their contracts often. We want to be like real mainstream sports? Well then, this is what happens in established larger sports. Sorry for the rant i'm at the end of long day/night out.

Most of that stuff at the end is copy/pasted or included by default. This doesn't seem farfetched if Intel has discontinued their Extreme Board line who sponsored EG, perhaps the contract is expiring eventually and will not be renewed, but it is definitely a correct statement that EG is NOT sponsored by Intel, even if the name "Intel" appears before the Extreme Boards.

Why is intel's "support" commenting on who they sponsor? Where is the rest of this email chain? Why does their website still list intel as a sponsor? Why would anyone believe this?

Why would anyone believe this? Support is commenting because likely OP mentioned something in the initial support request concerning Intel's current sponsorship with EG. If OP contacted Intel support, and not the support for Intel's Extreme Boards, when questioned if Intel is still sponsoring EG, it is the job of support to respond to this question. In this case EG is sponsored by Intel Extreme Boards and not Intel, so the information was provided would be technically correct, Intel has not been an EG sponsor in some time. The rest of the email chain may be hidden by the OP, maybe it's fake, I don't know. The only thing I was commenting on was the fact that a typo at the end of that message has no bearing on the legitimacy of the email. There are real people that compose these messages and they make mistakes, including typos. If you're referring to EG's Website, they do not list Intel as a sponsor, they listed Intel Extreme Boards as a sponsor. There is a very big difference in this verbiage, and it would be incorrect to say EG is sponsored by Intel. They are sponsored by Intel Extreme Boards, which is part of Intel. This would be akin to an SC2 team being sponsored by Blizzard, and someone emailing Activision asking if they sponsor that team. Activision does not sponsor that team even though Blizzard is owned by Activision. Blizzard as a division has its own budget, some of which they have delegated to be used toward sponsoring a team for instance. As far as why Extreme Boards are still listed, likely because they contract is set to expire sometime this year, and once it runs out will not be renewed if Intel has indeed discontinued their Extreme Board line, unless another area of Intel decides to sponsor EG. All of this of course is based on the assumption the OP is not fake. I'm not going to speculate on that because I don't have the means to verify it so I'll let others better suited. I'm also not saying anyone should believe this. However, after reading that Intel is discontinuing the Extreme Board line and the fact that the information provided in the email wouldn't be incorrect even if it was fake leads me to believe this may just be information that would have come out eventually anyway.
