Stephano is just too cool for Starcraft

How can someone with the most fans in SC2 be a leech on the scene? He was the opposite of a leech. He was an enormous asset to the scene, in fact THE biggest asset to the scene.

Still probably my favorite game to this date.

Idra and Stephano have been two of my favorite players

I hope Stephano finishes strong, unlike Idra. Good luck in your studies Stephano! Greatest foreigner ever and he's not quite done yet.

I agree with his decision. Its a bad plan to do e-sports long-term without any higher goals especially in a game that is slowly eroding away.

As a fan it really sucks. He's one of my favorite players to keep tabs on. Its probably the best for him overall though. Maybe give it another year plus but otherwise going back to school especially with the opportunities he has is a safe and smart decision. I'd love to see him play some while in school from time to time though!
I have a question...

seriously, how many people go to work each day cause they love it? very few they do it for the money.

you mean most do it for the money?

i think a lot of bw players dislike sc2 but many would not voice them since its what earns them money and just do the best they can to win.

I guess this has really been a long time coming. Stephano certainly has the skill to hang around for a while longer, but I think the cost/benefit ratio of playing SC and delaying med school is probably at or near the tipping point, so this is probably the right timing for this change.
Stephano's rise and reign are surely among the most memorable and exciting story lines for Korean and foreign starcraft fans alike. It will be a while before we see another Stephano.

Lots of fun while it lasted. Hopefully Stephano will look back on this time as favorably as us fans will

i think his skill level is high enough that especially for the first couple of years of his education he'll still be able to play at a very high level and do well and win money...look at suppy/polt etc.

although i guess if he just doesnt really find playing that much fun anymore then he doesnt have to worry about minor amounts of prize money so i guess thats why he plans on quitting

As one of the biggest Stephano fans there is I still have to say that I think it might be time. Even if he is still one of the absolute best he is no longer top 10 in the world (all koreans included as he used to be) and I don't believe he has the drive anymore.

There will never be another quite like him and it has been an honor to follow your career in sc2 Stephano.

good move. He has had one of the best careers, winning a lot of money in a relatively short timeframe.
He is getting far weaker now though compared to the rest, WCS will give him some more money and if he is lucky/good enough to make it far he can always keep playing while studying.
Not having the pressure to play as much can also be quite relaxing, the difference between training a fair bit and an extreme amount doesn;t need to be that much.

Well this is of course no surprise, but still very sad to see him go finally. I always rooted for him. At least he had an incredible run and made himself some good money for the future. All the best to him, and I hope there will be someone else that can fill his shoes..

In the stream he said that he have the carpal tunnel syndrome (but he don't stop for that, just harder to train).

Sucks. Never know, he might come back if he graduates around the time LotV comes out...

Edit - and I'm beginning to worry that my sig is a death sentence for the players in it.
