Genuinely, I had no issue with the comments he had recently made, but I keep failing to see tournament results from him and his stream pulls an audience, but not as substantial as his more manner teammates oftentimes.
I feel like this was inevitable, but for a different reason. It's too bad that it had to happen this way at this point in time, and I hope to see quality play from him going forward, quality play that we've not been seeing of late.
i dont really get it then. what does eg even have without idra
he was always their poster boy in sc2. none of their players can win anything anymore. not that idra has (for awhile anyway), but he was definitely one of the faces of eg other than incontrol.
you saw the comment he was responding to. none of the other players on his team put up with that kind of shit. if he tells that person to fuck off, then who cares. guy had it coming. all of "esports" is just filled with a bunch of pussified bitches apparently.
this whole situation is ridiculous
Can't tell whether or not you're joking. EG has some great talent, and even better PR without idra.
That's a sick line up, and EG-TL has a lot of potential for the next season of proleague with coach park. They have already shown they can win against the best teams in proleague.
And his behaviour in general. Not talking about his BM, but about his attitude towards the game and community. If it weren't for those 2 he wouldn't even be able to be a professional gamer. Yet he talks shit about both.

ive already read the post he supposedly got removed for, but im not seeing anything special about it. it's obvious they've been planning to get rid of him or they just havent revealed the real reason (or might never)

EG is huge now I hope you realize that, they have more than just sc2.
im obviously talking about their sc2 team i hope you realize that
i for one respect and like eg a lot more now.
a poster boy should be something like flash for kt, boxer for ace and skt, jaedong for oz. someone of talent, determination and positive image. if EG really thought idra was their poster boy for being an asshole...i think that would be a wrong approach for a professional starcraft team that competes

Most people in the community are in agreement by a huge margin. EG did the right thing.
I think most people would agree that "Most of the people" is not an authoritative source. (source: history)
Although I can't think of athletes directly (not being much of a sports nut) I can think of tons of examples of people who insult their fans and continue on. Off the top of my head: Ricky Gervais and Louis C.K. (Comedians), Charlie Sheen (Actors)... hell, almost the entire entertainment industry has some black sheep. About the only people that *don't* get away with it are politicians... and even then...
And the thing is... were you really insulted? Was anyone really insulted? Really? Greg Fields says, "You are all Fucks" and how many people were actually really insulted? I'd suggest you have to be pretty up-tight to be insulted by some e-athlete saying "everyone is a fuck" on his stream. Pretty damn up tight. You-already-have-a-pace-maker-and-one-day-you-will-show-all-those-people-who-made-fun-of-you-one-day kinda uptight.
No, Greg probably didn't insult very many people at all. And those he did insult were probably going to be insulted by something else today anyways.
Which makes this knee-jerk reaction from EG really low-class. I think I will write letters to their sponsors mentioning who poorly they treat their players...
It could have also been the game against Polt, judging that Idra will never change, never improve, at least not on EG. This wouldn't be a knee-jerk reaction. It could also be good for Idra. He will never win anything without a change, and all that time on EG, he couldn't change. It just makes sense to not continue.

IdrA is the only reason i personally followed anything to do with EG, their other players or InControl's shitty jokes.
IdrA made EG, and to be honest its called EVIL Genius. Bad mouthing people is kinda of in the name. frankly the community has been slamming idra everytime i see his streams, so what if he snaps and hits back? isnt he entitled to? bot he and everyone else knows he isnt "paid" to bad mouth the community, but he is paid to be a member of it, and when the community bad mouths him, the same community he's paid to interact with, the same community that either loves or hates him for his bad manners. Then no matter how you look at it, he IS paid to bad mouth people. Its how he's been recognised, its how he brought EG to be noticed, and its what we expect of him.
in all sincerity i hope to see Greg stay in the sc2 scene as a Pro Gamer, and i hope he destroys everyone in EG he faces. There are only about 2 people in EG worth keeping. Geoff and Bryce suck (result wise).
Great you followed EG only because of IdrA. Other people, more levelheaded and interested in someone's skill and results than how BM they are followed Eg because they had actual good players who were actually competitive. IdrA, in the pro scene, is not good nor is he competitive anymore. He couldn't get top 16 GM for SHOUTcraft in NA. Long way from someone who was a top foreigner in 2011. He doesn't produce results and he hasn't accomplished anything besides giving the proverbial finger to the entire community in at least six months.
Goodbye IdrA. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
E-sports, and in fact any sport, is primarily about entertainment. and Idra entertaind with his bad manners. the only reason people make money in sports is because it entertains the fans / community.
as for results, how many result has incontrol gotten? huk? machine? Incontrol doesnt win a damn thing or even place that well in them. by your logic he should be dropped to, but he isnt. because for some reason people like him.
Because Incontrol has a different PR scheme. He doesn't boast about his skill. He's turned to casting and has a funny, witty personality. Made fun of his own skill which is a +. Huk hasn't said he's the shiz. His "top 3 control" comment gets made fun of once a while. But he was one of top foreigner at that time, and he doesn't brag about his play nowadays.
InControl is great. I think he's adapted quite well.

Wait, Idra refused to practice with his teammates?
Stephano's antics were pretty bad, he was lucky that he could get away that his previous statements were all in bad humor.
Idra called DeMuslim "a shit player" after losing to him on ladder, didn't GG and then quit the game immediately for like a week every time they met on ladder.

why is e-sports immune to the same social faux pas that real sports is? why the quote brackets when the response from a real sports organization to a serially underperforming player who just happens to get on twitter after a bad day of practice and say his chosen career is only watched by retards would likely be the exact same?

Because people like me wouldnt give a fuck about "social faux pas" in either esports or real sports. Because i prefer authenitc players over that ones that act with "political/social corret overlays".

What about DeMuslim?
He consistently has over 10k viewers.
He has a great personality and is genuinely a phenomenal guy.

It'd be delusional to suggest EG's PR success in SC2 wasn't in part due to IdrA's popularity.

He left a WCS qualifier game when he had 200/200 supply of ultra broodlord and 3k/3k in the bank. Then given his history, there was an outcry and I think the bigger part was him insulting the community and basically calling everyone "dumb fucks"

Honestly, every sport needs a villain. In any competitive game, the opponents are not the best of friends, and most of them talk trash on the field. eSports won't grow if were just all nerds who hold hands and sing kum-ba-yah.
People watch sports for the rivalries, the upsets, the underdog, and the villains. With IdrA, you get rivalries, you get many upsets, and you get a villain. His mindset might have been toxic to his own performance, but it was not toxic for the eSports scene.
I don't understand how it wasn't toxic to eSports scene. It promotes an attitude that is immature and childish. BM and being a villain is fine, to a certain point, but when you threaten to "beat" someone up, wishing another to get "raped", wishing "cancer" on your teammate, admitting his fans are "fuckers".
Idra just raged for marketing scheme, and then he tried to push the limits of his rage just to rage. It's fake, it's old, and he crossed the line numerous times
