If you think what Idra did was actually acceptable behavior then i don't even know. Without fans there is no EG.

lol is this a post

what did he do that wasnt just idra being idra

ive already read the post he supposedly got removed for, but im not seeing anything special about it. it's obvious they've been planning to get rid of him or they just havent revealed the real reason (or might never)

That's the real reason, he's over stepped his boundaries one too many times

i dont really get it then. what does eg even have without idra

he was always their poster boy in sc2. none of their players can win anything anymore. not that idra has (for awhile anyway), but he was definitely one of the faces of eg other than incontrol.

you saw the comment he was responding to. none of the other players on his team put up with that kind of shit. if he tells that person to fuck off, then who cares. guy had it coming. all of "esports" is just filled with a bunch of pussified bitches apparently.

this whole situation is ridiculous

EG is huge now I hope you realize that, they have more than just sc2.

im obviously talking about their sc2 team i hope you realize that

i for one respect and like eg a lot more now.

a poster boy should be something like flash for kt, boxer for ace and skt, jaedong for oz. someone of talent, determination and positive image. if EG really thought idra was their poster boy for being an asshole...i think that would be a wrong approach for a professional starcraft team that competes

What about DeMuslim?

He consistently has over 10k viewers.

He has a great personality and is genuinely a phenomenal guy.

It's DeMuslim time!

DeMuslim is the next big thing . . . I'm also addicted to his stream now. Best player-personality in the business. Guy is gonna be a champion in more ways than one.

why is e-sports immune to the same social faux pas that real sports is? why the quote brackets when the response from a real sports organization to a serially underperforming player who just happens to get on twitter after a bad day of practice and say his chosen career is only watched by retards would likely be the exact same?

because "esports" isnt even a thing its a thing that people WANT to become a thing but it will never be as popular or far-reaching as real sports, and thats just the truth

people who watch "esports" are already a niche audience that can probably handle a few mean words without running to mommy and daddy. why do people care about some fucking words on the internet? why is everyone trying to look super professional? so someday people can be like "oh esports? i dont watch that its too mainstream."

it blows my mind that people can take serious offense to stuff like a player blowing off steam. im sure you and everyone else in this thread has been in twitch chats with all the idiots. and when i say all the idiots, i mean like 99% of the people in the twitch chats. the non-idiots are pretty much the ones you dont even know are there (i.e, the ones not talking). its gonna be rough dealing with shitty people when youre trying to entertain them, even if part of that entertainment is you being an asshole.

but then, i shouldnt be surprised. team liquid in particular has become shithole of memes and witch hunts since i started lurking so long ago.

It'd be delusional to suggest EG's PR success in SC2 wasn't in part due to IdrA's popularity.

i do not deny that, whatever floats viewer's boats but i'm not one of them entertained by idra.

I wouldn't call e-sports, something that is enjoyed by millions of people (yes there are that many), a "niche" thing. It's time for the scene to grow up. Everyone's getting older, things are coming to fruition. No more of this childish crap. EG drew the line.

Honestly, every sport needs a villain. In any competitive game, the opponents are not the best of friends, and most of them talk trash on the field. eSports won't grow if were just all nerds who hold hands and sing kum-ba-yah.

People watch sports for the rivalries, the upsets, the underdog, and the villains.
With IdrA, you get rivalries, you get many upsets, and you get a villain.
His mindset might have been toxic to his own performance, but it was not toxic for the eSports scene.

I don't understand how it wasn't toxic to eSports scene. It promotes an attitude that is immature and childish. BM and being a villain is fine, to a certain point, but when you threaten to "beat" someone up, wishing another to get "raped", wishing "cancer" on your teammate, admitting his fans are "fuckers".

Idra just raged for marketing scheme, and then he tried to push the limits of his rage just to rage. It's fake, it's old, and he crossed the line numerous times

His attitude was immature and childish, and it made him immensely popular. What's your point? It's fairly indicative that everyone else who enjoys it is mature enough not to get overly offended by it and not take it like he just killed your parents.

Because people like me wouldnt give a fuck about "social faux pas" in either esports or real sports. Because i prefer authenitc players over that ones that act with "political/social corret overlays".

hi sokrates!

as usual, it's vague generalizations with you. where is the line drawn on "authentic" players? would we be accepting of a white supremacist who habitually invoked racist sentiment, as long as he was authentic and up front about his beliefs? where does the greater society come in? more importantly, who cares when sponsors and team managers are the be-all and end-all in any sport, as agents of that greater society?

I would also note, as I have before when you used this same tack with defending destiny, that your lust for non-PC actors are in the distinct, fairly juvenile minority.

it's not a question of being offended, it's a question of whether we want this guy repping a progressing scene

really, honestly don't think the majority of people respect idra for his play these days, it's just as an anti-PC crusader and rose-colored accomplishments. sadly, stephano might be able to get away with saying bullshit, but realistically idra doesn't produce the results necessary to have any wiggle room.

Which is imo, Idra being Idra. If its for another reason then I don't know. But this is completely expected to me and a bad move by EG. I am not a fan of Idra but for some reason he has a lot of fans for the bad boy image he was presenting.

If Idra loses popularity it will be sad for the SC2 scene. No longer will I be able to read threads where Idra plays and see his passionate fans defending his poor play, applauding his early gg's, and worshiping him when he edges out a win. He's definitely a character which divides the community in an interesting way. Hope he can make his way back.
If we fear what we do not understand, then why is ignorance bliss?

This announcement is so crazy IdrA is now #1 trending WORLDWIDE on Twitter :o

Not #1 but the last spot. Still huge for eSports.

It'd be delusional to suggest EG's PR success in SC2 wasn't in part due to IdrA's popularity.

i do not deny that, whatever floats viewer's boats but i'm not one of them entertained by idra.

Just making sure, because he himself and EG got way more recognition than any other team for his antics. Because people enjoy it. If your concern is EG being a team that actually competes then there are others on the team who should have been axxed long before IdrA.

Demuslim over 10k viewers consistently? I must be blind or don't watch his stream during his "main" time. I've never seen a normal stream pull more viewers than Idra as consistently. I rarely seen Idra's under 5k at any given point during the day. I rarely see regular streams pulling more than 5k at peaks. Example right now Grubby has 3.2k and is highest for a normal SC2 stream. Events pull more I get it, but I think it's fair to say Idra has the best ratings/most viewers consistently for a normal stream with no shows, only ladder/practice. No?

Very stupid move, the only reason i watched SC2 anymore was because of idra. EG will never be mentioned again.

It's not just the sentence he said. It's him just hours earlier topping leaving a game when MMA destroyed his own command center, and general behaviour such as raging against his own teammate-IE annoying shit.

Now he comes out and says he can keep behaving this way, he will get paid, and you 'fucks' will keep loving it?

No one is in tears because of words man, people just don't want him taking up invitational tourney spots and leaving all of them essentially.
