Most people in the community are in agreement by a huge margin. EG did the right thing.
I think most people would agree that "Most of the people" is not an authoritative source. (source: history)
Although I can't think of athletes directly (not being much of a sports nut) I can think of tons of examples of people who insult their fans and continue on. Off the top of my head: Ricky Gervais and Louis C.K. (Comedians), Charlie Sheen (Actors)... hell, almost the entire entertainment industry has some black sheep. About the only people that *don't* get away with it are politicians... and even then...
And the thing is... were you really insulted? Was anyone really insulted? Really? Greg Fields says, "You are all Fucks" and how many people were actually really insulted? I'd suggest you have to be pretty up-tight to be insulted by some e-athlete saying "everyone is a fuck" on his stream. Pretty damn up tight. You-already-have-a-pace-maker-and-one-day-you-will-show-all-those-people-who-made-fun-of-you-one-day kinda uptight.
No, Greg probably didn't insult very many people at all. And those he did insult were probably going to be insulted by something else today anyways.
Which makes this knee-jerk reaction from EG really low-class. I think I will write letters to their sponsors mentioning who poorly they treat their players...

He said straight what on his mind. This is why I love him. I think this is only eg loss. After demuslim and stephano he was the most watched player. Four months ago he was the most watched. So to be honest this will only affect eg cause they have only 2 well known player. Jd and Thor is good as well but not as good as they was. Don't get me wrong I know many people hate idra and he's not giving any results but at least he's interesting. A fair decision by eg because dirty talk but bad because of advertising eg. So good luck idra , please dont stop streaming. And gz for rustlingrose as your girlfriend you lucky f uck.
Well EG says: duck you too man, duck you too.

Not a surprising decision, knew it would be sooner or later

seriously though, can you not see the astounding arrogance in his latest post? I'm not saying that's a good enough reason to dump him on its own, but man, it's a good capstone on his slow, bitchy spiral.

Hey, what the f* did IdrA do? I can't find it. Did he tell the viewers to fuck off? Well, thats not the first time, huh? Or did he say something supercrazy?
Can someone please tell me more, what did he do more than usual?

I don't care if he cares, but I guess you care because you took time to reply to my post.

If you think what Idra did was actually acceptable behavior then i don't even know. Without fans there is no EG. lol is this a post what did he do that wasnt just idra being idra ive already read the post he supposedly got removed for, but im not seeing anything special about it. it's obvious they've been planning to get rid of him or they just havent revealed the real reason (or might never) That's the real reason, he's over stepped his boundaries one too many times
i dont really get it then. what does eg even have without idra
he was always their poster boy in sc2. none of their players can win anything anymore. not that idra has (for awhile anyway), but he was definitely one of the faces of eg other than incontrol.
you saw the comment he was responding to. none of the other players on his team put up with that kind of shit. if he tells that person to fuck off, then who cares. guy had it coming. all of "esports" is just filled with a bunch of pussified bitches apparently.
this whole situation is ridiculous

I think you're probably right. When Stephano was punished, he released an "official apology" (although it didn't seem like Stephano actually had to write said apology, but it's the thought that counts). With Idra's mindset, I can easily see him saying "No, fuck you, I'm not apologizing" to his boss, with predictable results.
How did Stephano put thought into something he didn't write. Didn't realize Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V was a lot of thought.

Wow this is super surprising. It will be weird not having him on ITG or see him streaming on TL ( I can't see him not retiring)
Good luck to w/e he does next.

I watch and follow Greg because I have a similar view and mindset. If someone is a noob, no skill cheeser, I'm going to call them one. IF a game wasn't good, I'm not going to GG, why should I, because it's "manner"? who gives a shit, I'm not going to lose any sleep, neither will they.
If you think a person deserves to lose his team, and basically his livelihood, simply because of things he said, and his "manners" then freedom of speech is truly dead.
If esports degenerates into a bunch of circle jerking, let's hold each other's hands even though we're opponents, let's all love each other and be nice bunch of hippies, I don't want anything to do with it, and I"m pretty sure I'm not alone.
Plus you're all a bunch of pussies. BAD move by EG.

Would it be any different in traditional sports? Why shouldn't a professional team remove players that fail to uphold a professional image? Honestly, if you cannot even respect or show at least some form of gratitude to the people that make your entire profession possible, why do you deserve to make a living from them?
Not all publicity is good publicity. GOOD move by EG.

After frittering away years of his life on SC, Idra can finally enter the real world and apply all those hard earned skills.
oh wait, that's right, he has none because he spent his entire life playing SC! lolllllllllllllllllll

This is fantastic news, ill email the sponsors and tell them how awesome eg is People as fanatical are you are ironically bad for the scene that same way Idra is thought to be (he really isn't, because he's one player who doesn''t even place at tourneys now). Being this emotional over it is just nuts.
nope just stating facts.
fact. he is awful player. what was the last major tournament he won? wasn't anything recently. he had no results to speak of last year, and he basically fell off the face of the earth.
fact. he has an awful attitude. always makes excuses for his losses. this is documented everywhere. talks tremendous amounts of trash and disrespects other players, despite said players being GSL Code S koreans. quits games where he is actually ahead. this is also documented. rage quit vs mma despite winning and mma destroying his own orbital. quit vs huk to hallucinated void rays. etc.
bottom line he was just a disrespectful rude person who didn't have the results to even back it up. i will give him this, he is at least better than destiny, who is an awful player, an awful human being, and a racist. but that's setting the bar really low.

You must not be following this thread if you think that the community is coming out of this supporting Idra. There's also a poll floating around showing 60-70% support for booting him.

Can someone please link me to the SotG podcast where Incontrol was broken the news?
Honestly, every sport needs a villain. In any competitive game, the opponents are not the best of friends, and most of them talk trash on the field. eSports won't grow if were just all nerds who hold hands and sing kum-ba-yah.
People watch sports for the rivalries, the upsets, the underdog, and the villains. With IdrA, you get rivalries, you get many upsets, and you get a villain. His mindset might have been toxic to his own performance, but it was not toxic for the eSports scene.

What's going to happen to him now?
