Gratz to Kaitlyn but i dislike that gender plays a HUGE factor for getting picked up on teams even if you are half decent at the game. Prime examples being Flo, Ailuj and Kaitlyn. Makes me kinda wish I was a female.

Well I went into the thread expecting to rage about another team picking up a player purely based on gender. But a girl with a degree in electrical engineering and minor in comp sci is someone that's bound to have lots of potential in StarCraft II. The gender part definitely helped her get picked up but she's certainly qualified to be an academy member.

Why would those qualify her to be good at SC2? They're good achievements don't get me wrong. The best SC2 players in the world pretty much don't have tertiary level education after all!

I'm sure there were many factors that influenced the decision to pick up Kaitlyn instead. Just because someone else is in a higher skill bracket and gets a few more twitch viewers doesn't mean that an organization will automatically pick them up first just because of those 2 things. There's a lot more that goes into it.

I've never heard of either one, but maybe MsSpyte was never an option because they either don't know about her, or she herself wasn't interested?
Either way, it's surprising to see a girl with an Engineering degree, as well as a minor in Computer Science ~.~.

I've never understood this stupid concept people seem to have of picking up a player "Instead" of another another player.
There's no roster limit, It's not a Draft pick.
If you ever find yourself asking why they got person X 'Instead' of Person Y... your question is fundamentally flawed and wrong.
Don't think of an eSports Team as a Basketball team with limited space. Think of it as a Record company, If they think the new Artist will benefit the company, they sign them.
Whoever you're thinking could be signed 'instead' could have just been signed as well...just means either the team or player or both just don't want that to happen.

Not to mentions she's actually pretty good, probably better than 90% of the members of this site. She also has a very high quality stream and commentates a lot. I see no reason why she shouldn't be on a team.

Ok let me smash this right now. Flo and Kaitlyn put in WORK to get to where they are. I literally watched Kaitlyn put in the time to get from Plat to Masters. Flo is a High Masters player and puts in a lot of work as well. If you wanna join an acadamy for a team there is nothing stopping you.

I wonder how many GM players sitting in the top 50 read this and think "If only I had other sexual appendages"... I apologize but as a gamer the idea of "equality" indicates that you're judged on your skill and not on your having a penis or not... It's just disrespectful to all of the gamers above her who are stuck slaving away, it was the same with Flo.
I guess this is just my opinion however, we all think differently but I just wish people got judged on their accomplishments and not because it's a fad to have girls on the team. Girls should get the same chances as guys, which frankly, means they should be the same skill.

Congrats to Kaitlyn, I've been a fan of her stream for quite a long time and it's nice to see how much more attention her stream has gotten, but this even better. GL to her and Quantic.

She's a Mid-Masters Zerg MMR.
