Veridian looks sweet!
Very nice work.

nice initiative, but a lot of those maps dont look very well balanced :/ very wide paths and hard to take 3rds. but i like cuczo a lot . mammoth looks like a map which has to be tested, but overall a nice approach.

Hard to take thirds really are not that much of an issue in HoTS anymore. Defense is much easier for the races that needed it. Also it means Toss can also attack a zerg third then recall rather than both sides being basically impenetrable for the first 20 minutes.
These are some really good maps, I think I've posted individually in most of them but I especially love Star Breaker <3

i agree that for PvZ its fine, but vs T in any matchups its still pretty fucked up, due drops while bases being so widely spread out

That said, we always welcome feedback on our maps; feel free to send your thoughts with replays to info [at] galaxyesports [dot] com.

gemini heights look extremely similar to daybreak IMO, the rest look really interesting. especially the main of mammoth is definitely a new approach.

Not sure if I can help you; what you're talking about is the current competitive design standard for maps.

i dont really get why, since in the past it has been the other way around. the 3rd bases got easier to defend and more nearby your mainbase. suddenly with hots its the other way around eventhough we see terran speeddrops being so strong. it is not only hard to defend as a protoss, but asa zerg aswell.

Many great maps but sadly most of them will never have their moment of glory Blizzard isn't doing anything for map diversity in the ladder map pool. Tournaments are all following the GSL map pool, Kespa has it's own map makers, the WCS are global and I doubt we will see many new maps.
There is so many maps deserving attention but instead we have to watch the same games on Daybreak again and again... ;;

I too, think it's sad that Daybreak is still on the ladder. I do think that continued efforts like this can change things for the better.

Blizzard wants to have their Ladder orientate on their tournaments map pool, so people can easier train for it. This of course makes it harder for maps to move into the tournament scene in return. As everyone will use the super tournament - Kespa. Also means the Ladder pool will vary some more.
Really nice initiative though and I hope they get more and more support.

They are all nice maps, but I really want to see more experimentation from the community.

Looking forward to seeing what potential this team may have in the future!

I think we have a pretty nice mix of standard and experimental maps, similar to how such a ratio should be in an actual tournament map pool. (of course, that is opinion based, and people will always disagree on how many experimental maps should be in a pool)
Here is one I made recently that might or might not become a Galaxy map (just to give you an idea that we definitely experiment): + Show Spoiler +
I also know that Lore has a couple pretty interesting ones coming. There's one layout that is soo simple but really brilliant and makes you wonder how no one thought of it before. As for Travis, he has been pretty busy with setting up all this stuff up and making connections, but I wouldn't be shocked if he has something cooking because he is a multitasking beast.

While these responses are very understandable from seeing how things have panned out historically, we're in the middle of some great stuff to shake up how tournaments and events view map development in the West.

Congrats on the new team! It always helps mappers to work in teams.

Maps look pretty awesome! I am eager to give them a try. Good luck to your new organization!

This seems really cool... Absolutely love Viridian - Some crazy games to be played on there... Gemini Heights has a nice look, though I think the main is a bit too big and the third is quite far away, so drops will be hugely prevalent and difficult to deal with - making terran quite strong on that map...
|
good luck guys. hopefully by calling your team "professionals" you are talking about getting some compensation for your work. I know map making teams in the past have had problems with blizzard.

What he means is that the dimension for that map are really small and things look bigger by comparison.
