Honestly when people say they are pre-med is retarded, all that means is that you are going to medical school after your undergrad degree. Your undergrad may be bio, biochem. But it is not some awe inspiring thing.
edit: not to say I am not totally impressed that he is both getting a 4.0 atUC Berkeley and a top 16 NA GM. But I could take the prerequisite courses for the mcat while majoring in english and still call myself pre-med.

Sure, it'd be nice if the players could also have more free time, but that's what the job entails. Just like if you're a professional hockey player you have to travel a lot and sustain some injuries. All jobs involve some sort of sacrifices. Not caring about the top leagues for these reasons is absolutely absurd. Based on my knowledge from what others said on a previous thread when I brought this up, Flash didn't finish high school with the rest of his age group. The point about large corporations wasn't railing on corporations, it was about the distinction between amateur and professional. That's a big difference when teenagers are involved. You just missed the steroid comparison completely. It wasn't about spending time to practice, it was about unacceptable sacrifices. Back when steroids were used, they weren't seriously banned (as in the official rules of baseball). It ended up being an exercise in game theory, if you wanted to keep pace with the rest of people playing baseball, you had to take steroids. That's really the only sacrifice they're making: time spent practicing instead of pursuing another career path. The only other possible sacrifice I can think of is the potential for injury, but the same could be said about pretty much any sport as well.

Hasn't Suppy has been going to University as well as gaming? Maybe this is for EG and also for himself to decide if he would continue going to university and gaming at the same time, or take one or the other, hopefully gaming seeing as he is very talented and a very like-able person

medical school is a lot of memorizing
this thing about medical school being so great and medical doctors being so great is a bit overblown. the PhD kind of doctor is a totally different animal.
i've watched a lot of 30+ year old nurses make far better diagnosticians than many MDs... and of course they get fuck all credit for doing it.

it all depends on society traditions, prestige on the profession, etc.
while it's prestigous everywhere to some extent, in the USA doctors get paid ridiculously well and in a developing country in Europe they get paid ridiculously bad. here being a doctor isn't that big of a deal, having a degree isn't worth all that much since you won't get a job anyways;)
also they receive the Dr. title after graduating, while for example a materials science engineer studies for 5 years for master's, then researches and studies another 4 years for PhD, from aspects harder things than an MD, and still society thinks they're not "real doctors", it's pretty lame.
