How can they shuffle their schedule if they don't know what schedule GSL have? The major foreign organizations (they announced it a few months ago, don't remember all of them) are working together this year to avoid scheduling conflicts between their tournaments. Do you think they just happen to forget about GOM and that's the reason they aren't a part of that?

Because they set their dates today. TODAY. Not last month or the month before that. Today. They set their U&D matches to be held on the same week as the EIM World Championship TODAY. That is like setting a figure skating event the same week as the winter olympics, one week before the olympics.

while that makes sense its not fair to make gom rearrange their entire schedule and timframe because one player has a scheduling conflict.
sucks that stephano's forfeiting but thats what happens when you give seeds to players who prioritize foreign tournaments(not saying its good or bad)

um i dont think they waited until today to schedule them. they were probably scheduled ahead of time and only announced once the player distribution was set. they probably decided there was no point in saying "up and down matches will be held on these days" before they even knew which group the players were in and when they're playing

Naniwa and Idra were serious about it, too. But besides them, yeah, I agree. It's time they stopped the seeds altogether.

I am mocking the people who are freaking out about Stephano forfiting a qualifying match for one event to go play in the World Championship for another event. If this were anythign else but GSL, no one would care. But for some reason, if the GSL set a match for the same date you were already planning to go to another event, you should cancel your plans and play in GSL. The dates for World Champions are known for months... and we had many code a ro24 games in this and last week, but no Stephano has to play in the same week like WC. That is the real problem, it is an embarrassment that the GSL cannot find a calendar or go to TL and click on the “Upcoming Events” tab. Artosis knows how to use TL, he could show them how and then they could avoid this problem in the future. "Now see these dates? Don't set the matchs for the white guy on these dates and he can attend. Got it?" too bad stephano could have played in both if he moved his flight a few hours lol

HE shouldnt accept invitation in that case. Naniwa or Huk never forfeited their matches. And Rain never should have tried to qualify if he wasn't going to play EVERY SINGLE GAME. Same with Grubby. They should be banned forever and never allowed in GSL for leaving. They should walk to the other side of the street if they see a GSL player or caster, head bowed in shame. If Huk forfits a match because he is going to his own wedding, banned for life. You play every single game, that is how passion works. Looks like real-life doesnt exists :D Please tell me you are not serious about the wedding. Of course I'm not serious at all. Yes but why should GOM be the one shuffling their schedule around and not IEM? because GOM made their schedule months and months after IEM did. Didn't you notice last week on SotG when Artosis said they didn't even know the dates for the next GSL season yet? While IEM has had their entire season building up to this and its been known for months.
Isn't Stephano's group right before his Proleague match?
I was under the impression that GOM got the news that Stephano would be playing proleague that day and they scheduled him to play at 11:10 KST which is significantly earlier than usual and earlier than Proleague.
I mean... GOM messing up is one thing, but this sounds more like a systematic mix-up. Of course, I'm guessing so I could totally be wrong.

Stephano's U/D group is early Monday (the first one... and people complain about GOM?) and his IEM group isn't until Thursday. He could get on a plane Monday night in Korea and still have at least a whole day in Germany before his IEM games begin... Not too much sympathy from me, sorry, and the fact that this keeps happening should be embarrassing to the foreign community. Whether you like Huk or not, at least he stuck it out... this is the main reason i'm slightly annoyed at stephano; if it did clash, then cool, but not like this i guess You do understand that most people don't book plane tickets and hotel just a week in advance, right? professionals aren't most people tbh
Basicly this, EG should not be cheap on this and rebook his flight.
Anyways GL Stephano!

i think the problem is foreigners see it more as a one time tournament and koreans see it more as a continous league from season to season. no foreigner is going to move to korea and prioritize gsl over everything else season after season(at least i cant see that happening. )

TODAY. Not last month or the month before that. Today. They set their U&D matches to be held on the same week as the EIM World Championship TODAY. That is like setting a figure skating event the same week as the winter olympics, one week before the olympics. um i dont think they waited until today to schedule them. they were probably scheduled ahead of time and only announced once the player distribution was set. they probably decided there was no point in saying "up and down matches will be held on these days" before they even knew which group the players were in and when they're playing
I don't think it really matters when GOM figured out the dates, what matters is the date they told everyone else. Let me put it another way, they provided him with less than 5 days notice of his match. What if he had decided to go out to IEM early and stop and see his family in France?
5 days notice is not enough notice for anything.
