It's about choosing what's most important to him. I'm ok with it as long as he doesn't get an invite back. He will have to earn his way back in. That's life and that's fair.

I know it makes no sense. This is Stephano's choice. He would rather play a tourney where he is more likely to win and where he gains more exposure to the foreign market, one he represents. Lets also not forget this is the IEM finals for this season isn't it? Culminating from circuit points gained over the course of the year, vs the chance to be in Code S for another season and probably not win it later.

He still has a Code A spot, up to him to use it or not.

Very disappointing in stephano. Playing at IEM is way more interesting for Stephano than GSL. But not for us fans. It is a much bigger accomplishment to get into Code S than place high at IEM where he won´t even necessarily meet the best koreans. Lets see which is more important: World championship with a prize pool of $100,000.00 that was announced months ago. Qualifying match for the GSL. Prize pool: Might get taken to lunch by one of the casters because its fun. I am not sure which one I would pick... You realize that in GSL you always get money for a season? It's not as much as IEM, but it's more than just a meal lol Oh I didnt know that, how much is that? In the hundreds of dollars or maybe thousands of dollars? I always thought top 32 get paid some Just by being in Code S you get about $1400. Coincidentally, by placing last in your group at the upcoming IEM you would also get about $1400. It wasn't really about the money, EG would want him in Germany simply for exposure.

Of course I'm not serious at all. I am mocking the people who are freaking out about Stephano forfiting a qualifying match for one event to go play in the World Championship for another event. If this were anythign else but GSL, no one would care. But for some reason, if the GSL set a match for the same date you were already planning to go to another event, you should cancel your plans and play in GSL.

I did. Never a ban, just give never a seed or any bonus again to that player.

Its called sarcasm and I am mocking people who are climbing up to their ivory tower and calling down, claiming that Stephano disrespected GSL by planning to go and play in the the World Championship he qualified for months ago. I mean, if he canceled on IEM, that would be ok for some reason, but not on GSL.

It's not like the two tournaments are at the same time... Stephano's U/D group is early Monday (the first one... and people complain about GOM?) and his IEM group isn't until Thursday. He could get on a plane Monday night in Korea and still have at least a whole day in Germany before his IEM games begin... Not too much sympathy from me, sorry, and the fact that this keeps happening should be embarrassing to the foreign community. Whether you like Huk or not, at least he stuck it out...

The dates for World Champions are known for months... and we had many code a ro24 games in this and last week, but no Stephano has to play in the same week like WC.

We have both Rains (SKT1/Fnatic) who decided to ditch out on GSL. Thorzain dropped out of his up and downs back in August. ForGG and Ganzi both dropped their code A matches back in July. Sheth dropped out of the GSL wildcard tourney back when he was in korea while on FXO. Also Boxer gave up on his code A match because of physical problems, but hey who cares about those, he just disrespected his peers by dropping out! And you stated later in a post how HuK and Naniwa never forfeited their matches, good thing Naniwa just decided to probe rush Nestea at Blizzard Cup in 2011. That's so much better than forfeiting a match, right?

This is what happens when you have tournaments running all the time all over the world. Stephano isn't going to make a hard commitment to Korea because thats not where the money is. And I don't blame him or any player for doing what he is doing. Its not just the Up and Downs. Then he has Code S/A matches. It hamstrings you're travel greatly.

Are you insane? Do you know how many timezones that is? He would be so messed up on jetlag, he might as well play drunk. The standard for jetlag is a full day to adjust per timezone you cross. Huk tried the fly everywhere and do every event two years ago, it was terrible and is the reason players don't do it.

You do understand that most people don't book plane tickets and hotel just a week in advance, right?

That is the real problem, it is an embarrassment that the GSL cannot find a calendar or go to TL and click on the “Upcoming Events” tab. Artosis knows how to use TL, he could show them how and then they could avoid this problem in the future.
"Now see these dates? Don't set the matchs for the white guy on these dates and he can attend. Got it?"
