Probably terrible argument. It doesn't matter what people need and don't need, it's not blizzard's decision to say we don't. But why not, I can say why I might need two.
Currently I have EU and NA WoL, I like to play both servers on ~low gm mmr. My mainrace is however like 500p better than offraces. So if I want to keep the both servers (with different player pools) at decent mmr, there's no way to play my lesser races efficiently. What I would do on hots with 2 accounts is have 1 serious main race character on both servers and two for offraces. Occasional smurfing dragon-style could be done too - dunno if I'd like to fool around in bronze, but again, I'd have the option.

In global play a single license allows creating one character per server. If you have several licenses split to several accounts you have as many characters per server as you have licenses. If you have several licenses attached into one account & Blizzard limits the characters per account to 1 per server it is a problem (outcome is still a mystery as Blizzard has not given clear answer what will happen). To get several characters per server it would require you to buy more WoL licenses, even if you have already bought more but Blizzard has effectively invalidated them.
And yes. I was considering to buy second HotS license to get a second character per server for a different race. I am sure lots of other multi-license owners would consider the same. But if I am required to buy third WoL license to be able to buy second HotS license (HotS license requires an upgradable WoL license) I will unlikely do so.
Edit: When reading this thread it seems US support is more willing to split multi-licenses to separate accounts and EU support most of the time seems to deny such requests. It would be helpful if EU players who have managed to split their licenses would mention about it in this thread & include the customer support response where they accept the request.

Why yes I do think I do. In fact, I paid to do so.

I tried to write a ticket to split my accounts (EU) (On principle I don't like them not addressing the issue at all). On a side note making the system let you write a ticket is not even remotely straight forward had to change my keywords to get away from hacking and then chose the option for game key not working because well you can't just write a ticket (clicking N/A goes to the predefined list of problems)...
Hey there, Thank you for contacting our support here at Blizzard I'm sorry you've had to wait for a response. Sadly we are not able to move Starcraft 2 licences to seperate battle.net accounts. If you would like more information on the Global Play feature, please visit the following link: https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/starcraft-ii-global-play-faq More information will be made available when it is possible to do so. Should you have any other issues or questions to ask then please do not hesitate to contact us again. Thank you again for getting in contact with us and I hope you have many epic adventures :D Best wishes Game Master (withholding name) Blizzard Entertainment
Update: Greetings,
Thank you for your reply.
I'm afraid that our previous response was correct, We are unable to move Starcraft 2 region licenses to seperate battle.net accounts.
Please do not hesitate to contact us again should you have any other issues or questions.
Regards, (withholding name) Customer Services Also US wont deal with query because bnet is registered in EU =).

Also got a negative answer on the splitting. It seems Blizzard.US is actually splitting licenses while EU is not. Which obviously, makes things even more frustrating
At least they're giving refunds if it happened in the last 30 days, if this helps anyone.
The only glimpse I got was someone saying there will be a more official statement/stance on Global Play soon.
Finally, according to 'Game Master Fenhjray', I would like to inform you mooches that you already "got the benefit from the two licenses" (what that benefit was, who judged it and by what measure he left me to puzzle), so we should probably just chill, since we all know we're in Narnia, where shit oftentimes disappears.

I don't think we should get anything in return, to be completely honest. My second copy of the game has been useful to me for the last year and a half and I don't regret it at all. Now that global play is there I'll probably just use my second account to offrace with and not hurt my stats/MMR on my main account.
Global play should've been there from day 1... But let's be honest: SC2 is great anyway
EDIT: I bought my US copy with another email address... I can understand the disappointment of those who bought them with the same email address and only have 1 copy anymore (if I understood that correctly?).
|
You can't expect Blizzard to add features like this if it's going to lose blizzard money in the long run. Be glad they added global play at all, now you have a ton of extra accounts you can use.
|
For people that had 2 or more sc2 accounts on the same battle.net account, you can get another copy of sc2. Called blizzard < 1800 - 592 - 5499 > (idk if this is US only number.). Told them i originally had two keys . The guy was a little confused for a second, because I has created a second battle.net account and was trying to re-use my TW/KR key since I'm short a copy of sc2 since global implementation. Obviously that wont work and it felt like he was gonna tell me im sh*t out of luck. But they added a "free" (considering I already purchased it) copy of sc2 to my new (2nd) battle.net account that i created. So now i have 2 WoL again. Took 5 min on the phone with the guy. ezpz

I made no statement about chat channels. I can see why it would be a bonus to have 2 game accounts. In the end though if you only had access to one, you would live with it and your gameplay experience would not be affected that greatly. Though I do hope you all get your godly smurf account or off race account back.

I purchased 3 licenses for several reasons:
- it is true that at the moment global play wasn't available, so it helped me play on other server - language: people living in Korea could not access English or other language package (which is so disgracious: to consider that only Koreans live in Korea) - i organize tournament and additional accounts are useful to invite players/admins for multiple reason (maintain secrecy of account, account locked etc).
To still have those 3 licenses separated, still would helped me for the 2 last points. It is three different purchases we made that is now counted only one, with the rule being changed in the middle. To stay simple, 3 games on 3 different server is not equivalent to 1 game with one character on each server.

1. if you're so good at math, you must know how much i paid per character and how much you paid in the case one a single license. If those accounts where separated I would have 3 characters for each of those regions. So the only mistake i made is to have those license on the same account, instead of splitting them (this is a way for blizzard to say that I was dumb).
2. with a single global license now my account is stuck on korea only which means back to no english as well. That's because global play is not equal to full language package.
There are just too many rules decided on the fly.

I asked CSFeedbackEU if I could move my NA account to another bnet and gave feedback (note: I did not ever ask for a refund). Sadly not possible in the EU, responses below but take them with a grain of salt because there's not much value in them.
I personally don't feel global play and those with multiple regional accounts was considered carefully or well at all, especially given US customers are being sorted out with the movement of regional copies to other accounts. Of course there is no final implementation of global play but it seems that EU is basically "nope no can do", which is pretty bad if one region is given that much preferential treatment. Besides as customers we should have the abillity to move game accounts to accounts we own (WoW players as far as I know can move their product across bnet accounts with a bit of data and support's help etc).
I'm sure people will disagree as they have been doing throughout this thread...
CSFeedbackEU:
Greetings,
Thank you for your ticket about Star Craft II regional play.
I can understand that this may be frustrating for you if you compare yourself to other players that have accounts on different Battle.net accounts. However please remember that when you purchased and paid for these accounts there was no Global Accounts and that you have been able to play these accounts since 2011 when you purchased them. Now we are implementing Global Accounts, this doesn’t mean that you now have less than what you paid for at the start.
We will not be issuing refunds for purchases of Star Craft II accounts as no losses have been made. At the moment we also do not plan to separate accounts to different Battle.net accounts as we only move accounts for consolidation into the same Battle.net. However, I do recommend that you keep an eye on the forums on eu.battle.net for any updates regarding Global Play as this could be subject to changes in the future.
Kind Regards

Hi there,
name1 has covered the core facts from our point of view.
What would happen with players who had multiple regional licenses was indeed considered carefully while the Global Play system was being devised and developed. I would not anticipate any change in this matter.
Thank you for your understanding.

Anyone has any updates regarding this? I like you too face somewhat of a similar problem.
I use to have 2 CD keys under the same e-mail for my starcraft account, as I wanted to play on different servers. Now seeing that you only need 1 account to play on any server you wish, is there anyway for me to have 2 playing accounts under that e-mail? I've seen many people before having 2 accounts under the same e-mail, but probably bought for the same server back then. Anyone has any clue about this?

You kinda nailed the question that this whole thread is about. The only thing we know for sure is that no one knows, including the guys at costumer service. They will also not separate OR merge your accounts together. We'll just have to wait and see at this point. There are good indications that you will be able to select which account to use at the login screen.
You were never able to buy 2 games to use on the same server and have them on the same account. No one has ever had that.

I actually bought 1 for Korean and 1 for EU server for the same e-mail. The issue here is have I registered them for a different e-mail address, this would not have been an issue.

The solution has been posted a couple times in this thread: Contact customer support (either via ticket or calling them) and explain the situation. From what I understand is that the EU guys are having issues getting the EU staff to do anything, meanwhile the NA customer service reps are seperating accounts just fine - my two accounts were seperated within 10 minutes of being told it would happen. If you have an EU and NA account tied to the same email, then log onto the NA portal and talk to the customer service reps through there.

Wonder if it's possible with NA - SEA account

I sent a ticket. First person told me it wasn't possible, but then I did another ticket basically explaining that I - and others - purchased their game twice and are only getting access to one and in so many words it's basically bullshit they wouldn't allow us to utilize the extra game we PAID for. At that point they agreed to transferring one of my licenses to a new account.
