How do you feel after winning the championship?
I've never been this happy after winning a match. Even when I win, it doesn't really affect me that much. But the last game was a very tense one, so I felt really good at the end.
Playing the round of four and finals back to back – did that change how you trained for this match or the strategies you used?
As I prepared, I just played ladder. Thinking fundamentals would be important, since it was a game you would play right after, I played a lot of ladder.
You barely seemed to practice today at IPL5, just watching the other games. Was there any reason for this?
It would have been the same whether or not I practiced any more today; I just needed to warm up. I had played IPL before that, it didn't really matter.
Do you feel you're the best Zerg in the world after your Code S performance and your performance tonight?
No, not all yet. But I'm full of confidence in my skills.
Do you believe you can win another Code S championship, or do you think this is a one off thing like some other Code S champions in the past.
Well, I've won now, so I have a lot of confidence. Next season, if I don't want to be called a bubble (overrated), I will have to reach a high spot.
The last two seasons in Code S you were knocked out in the Ro32. What changed this time that allowed you to win?
Killer (Sangho) Hyung gave me a lot of advise, so I was able to believe in my skill.
You lost to an all-in build in game one after going for a somewhat greedy build, but you used that build again in later sets. Weren't you worried?
That was such an extreme build, so I didn't think he would use it more than once.
When HyuN came back to take a lead at 3 – 2, did you start to lose confidence?
I was a bit uneasy – I hadn't lost to all-ins, I lost in management games, the kind of games I had confidence in. I was very uneasy, but I did think a little that I could win.
What was going through your mind when you lost all your infestors in game seven? A lot of people thought it was over if it was not for the hidden base.
I had a big advantage earlier so I thought that I had won, but I took a fight overconfidently and lost it, and I thought that I had lost then.
Now that you've won a Code S, what's your next goal in your career?
Of course, winning many championships is my goal. I haven't determined a set goal, but it should be something I can be satisfied with.
Do you think that because Zerg has been doing well the last few months, do you think that this will be looked at as more of 'another Zerg win' than 'Sniper wins the GSL championship'?
I think it's true [that Zerg has been very strong lately]. Yesterday, I said in my interview that Terrans were so shameless. That, I just said because I wanted to say it once, so please don't misunderstand.
Mutas were only used one game today. Was there a reason the games played out that way?
I used mutas when I played HyuN in the GSTL, and I had said in interviews that mutas were good in ZvZ, so I thought they would be on his mind, and didn't use them.
It seems like the championship winning Zergs have many different styles; you and DRG are very macro, while Life is very early game/aggressive. Is it important for Zerg champions to have multiple approaches?
Of course it's good to be able to play multiple styles. But it's very hard to play multiple styles – I've tried it on ladder. I played the style I was best at.
You mentioned before that DRG gave you a lot of advice between games, what did he tell you? Also, you're the second Zerg winner on the team. Do you think you've overtaken DRG? [DRG laughs in the background]
DRG and coach Choi came and said a lot of things to me, and honestly I can't remember any of it right now. For sure, they were helpful words, but they were only helpful then, and I can't remember any of it now. [Everyone in room laughs]
Regarding DRG, I saw his career resume during IPL5, I think he's in a different class as me. I'm still a far ways off.
The fans chanted “Sniper! Sniper!” before the games. That's something that's hard to hear in Korea. Did that help you in these games.
I'm not that popular yet, so I wasn't able to hear that before. So of course, I felt good.
Did the consecutive semi-finals into finals schedule help you play compared to having a week between the matches?
Me, I like playing these matches right after each other. Instead of analyzing, I'm better at just playing according to my next opponent quickly.
You're qualified for the GSL year end event through this victory. How do you think you'll do there?
I'm not sure who's playing in it, but if I practice I'm sure I can reach a high spot.
You are one of the last Wings of Liberty champions. Have you played HotS, and what are your thoughts going into the expansion?
I haven't played a single game.
Any final comments?
I want to thank coach Choi for coming here and taking care of me. And I want to thank my teammates who practiced with me and motivated me. I want to thank my parents and family who cheer for me and watch my games. Thanks to GomTV for sending me to my first foreign tournament.
And uhh.... So what am I supposed to say? Oh right, sponsors, sponsors.
Thanks to Lotte-Chilsung, Razer, and GomTV. And thanks to our partner teams MYM and Wayi Spider.

Ahahaha, seems like Sniper hasn't had enough interview experience to remember his sponsor plugging

Nice interview, wasn't expecting such a close series even though I only watched the last bit. I think has Hyun not overextended after taking Sniper's 4th and just retreated, regrouped and pushed out again then he may have taken game 7 and won the GSL finals(that and his not scouting that hidden expansion until too late cost him big time lol).

that sponsor plugging was pretty damn funny

The momentary forgotten sponsor plug was unexpected.

Pretty cool that he won Code S and then acknowledged that there are are a lot of players who are on another level. Sniper, I like you.

I love Sniper's humility, even though he has been villainized so much these past couple of months, I find him the victim of circumstance, the wrong guy at the wrong place and the wrong time. I'm glad to see him doing well but still not go crazy with claims of being the best player/zerg and stuff like that, he knows his place.

meh. I wish he would just embrace his role as a villain it would be so much more fun, same thing with Heart. They are never going to be super popular players so they might as well go full out villain.

Probably not.
Jjakji had a very specific style that he relied upon to win him games. Once that was figured out, he kinda had nothing left. Seed just got really cocky after he won, and stopped practicing as much, he'll be back.
Sniper suffers from neither of those problems. He spends most of his practice time just cranking out ladder games, and he doesn't really have a style. Also, he's rather young, so I think his career is just starting.

Well, he used timing attacks in his play all of the time. In the seasons before he dropped out, he tried these timings attacks, and failed horribly. This is because the other players found out how to block these. He shortly dropped out of GSL and faded into obscurity.
As for Seed, he mentioned in some interviews that he hadn't been practicing as much and got way too relaxed.

Yo this isn't Reality TV, that's just his personality. I think Sniper has absolutely nothing close to being villain lol XD
EDIT: Oh and Jjakji did have a good run in GSTL after he entered the abyss of code B. He's still an amazing player and a really good macro terran. TvZ is just a timing oriented match up. Jjakji is in fact NOT a timing-only kind of player, he's really good lol...

I'm not saying only. He's an amazing macro player, and has excellent late game army control, especially in TvP. However, when he was trying to beat players that were better than him, he would often have to utilize timing attacks in order to gain the advantage. This happened in most matchups, especially in long series. This won Code S, IPL ToC and many GSTL games.
I only really know a lot about this because, when I played Terran, I studied Jjakji extensively.

I wish I could get excited by it, but to me it's just "Zerg wins again", and doesn't really change my view of sniper at all.

I only started watching sc2 recently, and one of the first matches I saw was MVP vs. SlayerS, where Sniper got an unexpected all kill. Interesting to see Sniper go ahead and unexpectedly win GSL. Hopefully his success will continue.
