Truth !
Thing is that not how BLIZZARD wants it to be.
They are kinda contradicting themselves here.
Blizzard wants to make money, they clearly have not cared about if their games are good or not since about 10 years, they've already made their name. What matters is money.
This is where is contradiction is. They would have made so much more money selling a revamped BW than they did with SC2. This is also true for D3. A revamped D2 would have been just so much better... and maybe their RMAH could have been their next cow with infinite milk instead of being another nail in the coffin.
At this point they really should ask themselves whats more important.... money or top notch games ? Because soon they will have none. Not saying Blizzard will close or anything (they made so much money in the past 10 years its not even funny) but they are not on the way to make a lot more.
In my opinion Blizzard is just another of these western big company that have only 1 goal, get richer. Capitalism for you. Who cares about anything else when you live in the american dream...

I agree with Destiny, sc2 is just going downhill. I switched over to LoL and im not going back. much better community, much more rewarding, alot more fun, competative. And the makers actually care about the game. sc2 will not die, but it wont grow and slowly widdle down in a few years

I pretty much agree with most of what he says. The unit design in SC2 has far too many nerfed spell casters and dull units that do nothing but attack, that are too slow and too supply intensive. Bnet 2 is also one of the most poorly designed multiplayer systems that I've seen. I still don't understand how half of it works. Bnet in BW, especially when combined with Iccup was all that a multiplayer game system needed. Bnet 1.0 with LAN latency I believe to be the best system. And look at WC3 - it's system was amazing as well.

I can't wait for some Blue posts

The elephant in the room noone wants to talk about is that SC2 sucks as a game, plain and simple.

I wish to see that side of Blizzard that saw how terrible certain starcraft1 alpha/beta build was, completely trashed it and started from scratch.

Blizzard simply needs to admit they made some mistakes ans suck up and fix them. Until they do, things will slowly go downhill.

and now look at what valve does delivering a close to perfect client on their first big title in that area. you have community features, reconnects, obsing, dotatv (watching a tournament inclient with the view and commentary of the caster is AMAZING,fuck hd streams, ingame is the future. ) all that stuff. blizzard had the expirience and decided to throw evrything out of the window that was good cause they wanted to be different and cool. valve had no expirience and just wanted to make a modern great platform for their players to play their game.

Blizzard has no clue what they are doing and what made their games great in the past.
One example is in diablo 2 beside the epic story and really evil monsters you had that treasure hunter athomsphere, you would do certain boss kills again to try to get good rare items, and when you finally some good item drops you feel happy about it.
In diablo 3 they implement global ah where you can buy all that epic stuff for gold, so no more treassure hunting athmosphere, just farm gold at some boring place and get your epic loot.
Same at Sc 2 they think they have such great new ideas but in reality they ruin what was essential to the game.
How is it possible they are so clueless what made their games so successful is beyond my comprehension.

I would like to see Blizzard's response to this thread.

I agree with nearly every point here. Look at the development and especially at the long life of BW and WC3 - SC2 is designed in an other way which is not very good.
I must say that I'm shocked with the HotS development by now. Blizzard doesn't give a fuck about the community which will lead to a dying SC2 scene one day.

It is a good thing that people change what they prefer playing. It is a shame that people take these changes as evidence of either game dying.
It is quite possible that sc2 will die off over the years, but not because of sc2 failing but because of esports failing. I can't believe people are so partitioned in their thinking that they can't see that all of these games are in a financial aspects the same, anything you can say for the future of sc2 you can just as well say for LoL. LoL will probably also widdle down in a few years.

I have to agree with this article, the SC2 e-sports scene does seem screwed up by Blizzard and their rather stupid actions. Maybe it was due to Activision (sorry if this is a rumor) and their greedy/controlling actions, or maybe Blizzard really wanted to create a competitive game that would appeal to the competitive types. I have experienced hardcore SC2 fans leave for LoL because "It was too difficult" and "LoL is more appealing because of how easy/non-serious it is". SC2 simply does not appeal to any other gamer, the "casual" market because of how difficult it is compared to any other MOBA game. I have never felt as frustrated when I get cheesed or lose a game because of simple mistakes compared to any other game, because SC2 not a forgiving game.
The emphasis on "competitive" is driving SC2 down hard. I literally remember only playing UMS on BW, and maybe playing Melee a few times. UMS allowed for the community to express their creativity and have some fun with the game, while SC2 forces all players to resort to Arcade, which is a mess of half-copied ideas from BW UMS games and some fairly sloppy ones. There is no longer any care for the community as much as in BW, and the lack of any real action by Blizzard is dragging SC2 down. I just hope Blizzard can at least read this article to gain a good idea of what SC2 needs to fix. I love SC2, and I hate to see it end up irrelevant because of dumb business direction which could have been fixed 2-3 years ago.

I am sure that they are eager to throw themselves into a discussion with a niche group of disenchanted fans who have no more constructive to say than "Blizzard just does not give a shit" "they don't know how to make a game" "this is my armchair game design opinion on how the game should be" "based on zero actual data I predict with 100% certainty that moba games are going to dominate the market in 2 weeks and no one will play hots".
Most sensible sc2 players and fans will never waste their energy posting in threads that derail into whinefests. This is good because it is indeed a waste of time, sadly it also causes the wrong impression that the people who post in this thread are representative of the community.
The original post had good points and rational suggestions. The flood of comments after that is just the same people who have been posting about the death of sc2 since before the beta for WoL was out. This is just the same threads we had during the beta of how the lack of micro was going to kill the game, this is just the elephant in the room thread again. Nothing has changed, it is the same people and the same sentiments it just gets repackaged in a different form every time.

As a semi-proffesional I am also making the switch to LoL right now. There is absolutely no reason for a semi-pro to be dedicating so much time into a dying game. Not only into a dying game but a heavily flawed game just as destiny stated.
Even if I dont make it pro in LoL(though I dont think it is that hard) I have MUCH much more fun playing league of legends even if I do lose games and lose rating. The community is better everything seems better for Riot and LoL future.
It makes me sad a little because SC2 is the better game. But Riot is the better company and in the long run thats what wins.

People who are stating that UMS is the reason why BW survived are being subjective and ignorant. The game survived because of the proscene, BECAUSE of its competitive nature.
SC2 is the opposite. It is dying because it is like a BW UMS that is being forced to hold water as a competitive sport.
