MC publicly threatened Huk's life. I'm not even sure if he threatened me or Huk because he used "you" and that means he wants to kill me right?
I propose everyone sends a letter to SK's sponsors to stop supporting this murderer. We cant have killers just threatening people around on the internet. who knows how many people has MC killed in the past. this has to stop.
fellow inquisitors, let the sc2 scene burn in the cleansing flames of the unquestionable authority of reddit posters.
are you serious ? everyone understands that this is just fun mocking by mc.
if you make stupid comments about having sex with children, things get more complicated.
so bottom line, the problem is that not everyone understands Steph made a joke.
so the complication only happens because people are dumb.
who would have thought.
no, you have to make sure people will understand you are just joking. i repeat, you have to make sure.
I seem to recall Stephano tweeted "it was a joke between friends sorry"
so seems like you just posted for no reason at all.
haha, just because you say "it was a joke" after things got on fire doesn't mean people have good reasons to believe you.
This whole "did he actually do this" sidetrack is just a red herring. It doesn't matter if he is only joking, anyone representing a professional organization is going to get grilled for joking about this topic. The reality is that if you are a SC2 pro gamer, you represent those sponsors and your team ALL THE TIME when you are in SC2. Pro gamers need to start learning that whenever they are on the internet they are in public. I understand that Bling was streaming, and Stephano didn't *mean* it to be public, but this is the sort of thing you need to be aware of. That is the nature of the beast.
EG punished him because they had to in order to maintain their image as a professional organization which sponsors take seriously.

Wow, lol, your interpretation is ... transcendant.
Reading this thread, I get the impression that a vast majority of people aren't mature enough to comprehend why this is a problem for the health of a sporting industry.

everyone is free to prefer milfs, plastic dolls, dead ppl, donkeys etc. but at the point when he himself provides a statement strongly implying he actually committed a felony, he is screwing himself up the anus.

involved with what?
I could accuse you here: vi4t0r from Poland RAPED A CHILD!
and your case would have the very same amount of evidence as Stephano's. there is nothing to be involved with.
The fact is Stephano said vulgar comments with the intent of being vulgar. You can prance around and call out technicality, however at the end of the day what Stephano said was offensive to a large amount of people. ESports will not be taken seriously as a Sport if such ungentlemanly comments are allowed.
its not offensive since the child he "raped" is non existant.
just how it's not racism if you hate orcs in wow because you know they don't exist.
it's not even offensive for anyone. in what way does a stupid joke offend you. you don't even know the people involved. you're not obliged to watch stephano. he has literally ZERO effect on your life.
from a law point of view, this case is NON EXISTANT. it's a PR problem from EG's perspective, but people who feel offended create the problem out of thin air. they don't achieve anything with this and even if they do that has 0 effect on their lives.
to me it just seems like a bunch of assholes who are bored and just create shit because they can.
Without police investigation, how can you be 100% sure the child doesn't exist?
Even if there is just a slight possibility of that being true, for this kind of matter, must be taken seriously, investigate first.
Those sound like the words of a child rapist trying to pin it on someone else.
I think that there is a slight possibility you are a child rapist, this must be taken seriously and should be investigated.
That's coming from somebody else's mouth, if you accuse me, evidence should be provided, or you will get into jail. This is completely different from Stephano's case, that's from his own mouth, I'm not accusing him, I'm just quoting him.
Seriously? You'd like to accuse someone of some crime so you don't have to provide any evidence, but if someone else wants to accuse you, you suddenly have standards of evidence?
I didn't accuse him, I said investigate.
Please don't mince words to avoid the fact that you're committing the fallacy of special pleading.
I think that there is a slight possibility you are a child rapist, this must be taken seriously and should be investigated.

When someone wants to investigate you, it's an accusation, but when you want to investigate someone else, it's just an investigation? Let's get back to the point. Where's the suspicion? Where's the evidence? Why the double standards? Let me guess, you don't like the idea of being accused of committing a crime because you said some words on the internet?
"Oh I shot 50 people yesterday." "What! You murderer!"
According to the results of the investigation, the defendant won a game of Quake.
On the other hand it's just great that we don't get to see Stephano taking any kind of GSL seed, and finally getting to see how he would fare over there because of a borderline non-issue. Disappointed, was looking forward to seeing him test his mettle there

damn that would make a strong case at the courtyard.
I hope the reckless SRS vigilante sub reddit is shutdown before they can do more damage to esports.
I'm not surprised. Reddit can be a really scary, really dumb place. It's a great site to share funny or interesting stuff, but when it comes to opinion it is really, deeply, flawed. It encourages the worst kind of herd behavior with its upvote system, and as they've shown it can be really destructive.
I hope Stephano doesn't think that the Starcraft/Gaming communities including TeamLiquid is behind this despicable attack.
It would be sad if he came to the conclusion that TLers would launch this kind of attack against him.

I agree completely. Anyone who is defending Stephano is damaging his reputation even more. If they truly wish for the good of him, they should just be quiet and let the whole thing pass. The quicker everyone forgets the whole thing, the better.
look at most shock comics i.e bill hicks they usually have a fucking good point to make and shock comedy is the vehicle what stephano said was just disgusting for the sake of being disgusting.
There's no law that says you can't speak disgustingly to your friends. The only issue was it became public and he didn't want it to be. I think EG made the right call, but frankly people here need to lighten up. He didn't kill anyone, he didn't rape a child, he didn't do anything terrible except have sex with a younger person and then joke to bling about it. Big deal, worse shit happens daily.
There is nothing beyond literally interpreting what he said to back this up.
Okay and? You think someone rapes a child and then rushes home to tell his friends about it? Of course I'm going on what he said, there isn't anything else to go on!
Well he didn't rush really, he clearly said "yesterday". I suggest you read what Stephano said a few times untill you can at least remember the important details, maybe than you will understand the subtleties behind his words.

Ok, I can try to explain :
There is a guy, he is 19 and he had sex with a girl who is 14. Having sex is usually great, especially when you are 19, and you tend to be happy with this. We have no reason to thnik it wasn't great for the girl either, but we really don't know anything about that. So the guy tells his friend that he had sex with this girl, and, since he is aware of the fact that the age difference is quite important, on the verge on being inappropriate, he exaggerates the thing : he poses as a sexual predator. This causes a gap between the reality (two young people having fun) and the story (a pedophile raping a child). The gap, in turn, causes humorous reaction, and, for many people, laughter.
For further explanation about the mecanism of fun in general, and laughter in particular, I suggest Laughter by Bergson, although I have to warn you that he was a french philosopher, so he propably wrote the whole crap in blind fanboyism for Stephano.

And I don't get how people can read what he actually wrote, in context, and say there's something wrong.
Not to mention that it was, as far as he was concerned, a private conversation.
...about 100th guy in this thread who thinks "Private Message" in SC2 is actually private on the internet. Is this like new metagame among young kids? I never considered it private. Or, anything you say on the internet is never private enough as far as I know.
Congrats, you managed to make no sense at all.
Do you not see the difference between something you would say during an interview, or a show, or while commentating, or something you say while you think no one is listening? Do you never say dumb things with friends or family?
This wasn't even a post on a forum, where you take the time to think about what you write. It was a freaking private chat room! Have you ever read one of those? If you could spy on them you could put millions in jail.
That's exactly why I only make inappropriate jokes face to face among friends. I consider private chat is not private enough as long as it is on the internet. Only when I can sue the other side for releasing the private conversation, then it is safe to say that it is private enough. You have to be responsible for what you say even in a private chat.

Or people have a different interpretation of things entirely unrelated to their maturity or lack thereof. We have a great thing in Starcraft with the players really being able to express their own varied personalities to their fanbase. Yes it may sometimes go 'over the top' but it really is a special thing to many of us.
As a follower of mainstream sports as well, I personally bemoan the incredibly boring interviews and press conferences that come out of these environments, with the participants media-trained to within an inch of their lives so they can represent their brands.
Also I'm going to pre-empt the likely retort that I'm creating a false dichotomy with the only choice being between boring cliched interviews and making jokes about child abuse. That's not the case at all, I'm just saying that every time we get the pitchforks out we're going to as a community see less of the players expressing themselves.

It's slightly true about players being more hesitant to express themselves, however in this case Stephano knew that he was in the wrong, even if you read his chat log he said "You aren't streaming this are you". I personally believe most players are smart enough to know not to say such vulgar comments on public forums, but making an example of a notable player every now and then will let other players know that it simply isn't ok.
You can express yourself without being offensive, and if you can't then perhaps you shouldn't be expressing your feelings in the first place.

if you listen to this
You will realize that the sponsors dont give a damn about who is complaining. As soon as a complaint is made ( backed up with "evidences" or not ), they will threaten to drop their sponsorship to the player's team.
That is very sad and that's the danger to E-Sport. When I see idiots here claiming that he deserved it because he's a public figure ( though the whole was done in private ) I think that this community deserves a shitty pool of players with no facial expressions cause it's wrong to express yourself and to joke about everything ( lol @ americans )

the whole "evidence" is a jpg image taken out of context.
Stephano's claim that it was a joke is just as good as a proof as that jpg.
not to mention that what you quoted 100% negates what the other dude said, so your "makes no sense" comment made no sense.
