I guess I'm curious as to why you're so certain. Is it because the thought is so disgusting and repulsive that you just assume it's a joke?
So wait, are there people who think he actually raped someone?

Stephano was and probably still is one of my favorite pro gamers. But I wouldn't condone of defend his statement, what is happening to him is 100% his fault. People might say no, its because the other guy is streaming. I say so what.. Things that happen privately in this online age rarely tend to stay private. People might say oh its only a joke. I say so what. It doesn't matter if it was a joke. He's not the victim what so ever. It's his job to know better, no excuses. Part of me thinks he's trying to get fired. Makes me wonder if Millennium had these problems and just didn't care. Lol ditching tourneys and now this, but who knows. Hope he gets his stuff straitened out.

Shock value; like when Michael Richardson screamed the 'n' word on stage during a show. I understand that.
We obviously differ in opinion, but I don't think shock value applies when you're sending what you think is a private message to a friend.
So wait, are there people who think he actually raped someone?
I never said rape. She could have been willing. Still doesn't make it right and I noticed you still didn't address my prior point. How do you know, and how are you willing to adamantly willing to argue that it was a joke?

I read it as "abused of a child" is the joking part, but its a joke in reference to him having sex with a 14 year old.
abuse: joke sex with 14 yo: not joke

So he just had sex with a 14 year old? In a country where the age of consent is 15? What's the problem again?
Oh he said he liked to fuck kids....yeah that should do it. The funny thing is I laughed as I typed that, so if it was a joke it was pretty funny

I'm going off of his own words where he said it was a joke between him and bling. And I'm sorry your american sensibilities are different, but the age of consent is 14-15 so it's okay by their standards.

Then you're friends with Stephano and receive his messages regularly to know what his sense of humor is like? Or are you merely assuming you know?

lol what? Shock value does not need a good point. Dead baby jokes are always funny, sheerly because of how overwhelmingly grotesque they come off.

This is pretty retarded, Stephano made a joke. get over it.

I don't think women are the only people who get offended at the "joke" of a 14 year old being "abused" I bet many of those who are "offended" are people who would laugh at the very same joke if made by a friend in private. this could have been one of my jokes - and i AM a women xD Hopefully you make your jokes in poor taste away from some of the people who may find them offensive. I personally am one to make really bad jokes too, but I make a valiant effort to keep it from my boss, and my mother. a lot of people have a sense of humour like that. much more than you would think I know a lot of people who went to med school. they had the most fucked up humour there. the doctors of the future. they used to play around with the preserved fetuses, and I could mention like a dozen even more disgusting jokes right off the top of my head. and guess what? one of them is an anesthesiologist, the other is a surgeon, the third is a neurologist now. those sickos save your mother and daughter and lover when they're ill. these people (myself included) are far more intelligent and educated than all the dorks sending emails and know perfectly whats appropriate and what's not. and these are the intellecutal elite of the world. what you do is what matters, not what you joke about to your friend. Well I agree. But also be realistic, this is a world with work ethics. If you're a public figure, everything you do can end up in front of your boss's eyes, and in front of your boss's boss. Doctors don't want to be joking about, for instance, killing a bitchy patient and no one will ever know - at least not in front of a patient. the anesthesiologist guy once told a guy who was just falling unconscious "I will put my dick in your mouth" lol ok that was a little bit sick, but we all laughed our asses off and of course he didn't do it lol anyways what I'm trying to say is that these people know when they can do it and when they can't, but I'm quite liberal so to me these would be even acceptable all the time as long as they do their jobs right. If, as a medical professional, you say that to a patient and the patient remembers and complains you get fired instantly. I don't get your point. not here you don't get fired if you have a resident contract anyways maybe he knew the medication made it likely that the patient won't remember it or maybe he knew the patient enough. the point is that guys with the weirdest sense of humour make the world move forward and somtimes they put down more on the teable than the witch hunters ever will. your deeds decide what kind of person you are, not the jokes told to a friend. This made me remember a quote:
When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people.

What's the age limit for France when it comes to have sex with teenagers?
|
look at most shock comics i.e bill hicks they usually have a fucking good point to make and shock comedy is the vehicle what stephano said was just disgusting for the sake of being disgusting.
There's no law that says you can't speak disgustingly to your friends. The only issue was it became public and he didn't want it to be. I think EG made the right call, but frankly people here need to lighten up. He didn't kill anyone, he didn't rape a child, he didn't do anything terrible except have sex with a younger person and then joke to bling about it. Big deal, worse shit happens daily.

EG are his employer and those comments are not acceptable in a working environment. He represents EG. every time he opens his mouth or plays. well if EG didn't have a problem with Idra representing them with all the "fuck you"-s and ragequits then 1 month suspension is perfectly fine for a one time joke that wasn't even intented to be public But it was public.. that's the whole point. Have you ever heard someone apologize for something he said privately that wasn't leaked? my point is that the people in the sc2 scene don't apologize because they in fact should.. they do to calm down the idiots. who knows what people have done in the past? maybe one sc2 player killed a person, but nobody knows about it. the nature of the deed is what matters and that people know about it or don't doesn't matter at all, the deed has been done already anyway, and that person is dead. this was a harsh example of course. but it could happen that someone fucked someone else's girlfriend in the sc2 scene, that's much more realistic and likely. It can be that someone in the sc2 likes to have sex with trees. It can be that someone in the sc2 is a satanist. these are all possibilities, and if those people don't actually hurt other people or cross the laws of society, it's perfectly fine if they do those weird or even unethical things. Stephano made a bad joke that got leaked- what changed? nothing, he didn't rape a 14 year old, the raping didn't somehow materialize in the past just because he mentioned the word "abuse". he didn't commit a crime, he'll still attract huge numbers of viewers, and if he doesn't, that's his and EG's loss, in this sense mistakes like this can punish the player and the team. YET what does happen in reality? internet scum immediately sends an email to razer and monster with dick in hand. about a kid who made a stupid joke to a friend, and which has literally zero effect on all these internet scums lives, Stephano will still play good and still tell these kinds of jokes just he'll make 100% sure next time that it wont get leaked. it's just one small thing that pro gamers have to watch out for, it doesn't change ANYTHING in the world. From a practical point of view, it is 100% pointless to participate in the witch hunt, and from a moral point of view, well its stupid to try to look at this from this anyway, and literally nobody here would be a credible judge. So conclusion- players will look out and apologize, but not for the people, and it doesn't change anything if they do. that's why this whole drama is 100% unnecessary and stupid. It reflects poorly on the EG brand, which is an organization that tries to make its profits through advertising, just as all of esports does. The job of the players is to improve/further the brand by promoting their sponsors through winning tournaments and other forms of positive advertising. If a player doesn't do that, it's pretty pointless to have him on your team. To you, he might be just a great SC2 player. To EG, he's an asset in order to make more profits. Making stupid statements that get out into the public make that goal harder to achieve. How is it that hard to understand? It's what the entire scene is organized around, and also why certain players (for example, naniwa) have such a hard time finding a top tier team no matter their skill.
i understand everything better than you probably;)
on the other hand you're welcome to explain what's the justification and motivation of you when you run to sponsors about a thing that has literally zero effect on your life. the only thing I can think of is "because you can". that's good enough motivation to jump off a cliff too you know.
if those witch hunters, who don't get anything out of these matters didn't exist, this whole problem would be non-existant.
