Production values tend to be pretty consistent throughout a project, if nothing else. Not saying it'll necessarily be good but it looks promising at least from that standpoint

Nowadays big movie studios making summer blockbusters understand the importance of trailers and produce some flashy content for teasers and trailers to show for the potential viewers. A lot of the teasers and trailers are released way before the movie comes out. I read an interview with Mark Woollen who makes trailers for artsy directors (Coen brothers, Terrence Malick) for a living and the filmmakers usually just give him dailies or something insignificant to work with and make it great.

I'm so glad it came out in time when Starcraft 2 was at its zenith and everyone who donated didn't look like a complete fool. 10/10 would watch again

![]() Seems pretty obvious what the world is wondering when it comes to this documentary. With all the traveling they did according to the schedule, it makes one wonder if money is the issue holding the project back now. How many international trips did they take (Jeff lives in Korea? more at bottom)? Given everything in the kickstarter description refers to "we," it makes one think at least 2 people were going on those trips. Round trip flights plus accommodations for a few days and each trip is easily over $2000. It would be safe to assume part of that money went to the infrastructure for distributing the film and to the reward tiers, so they very well could be out of money at this point (or scrambling to find funds to fulfill these expenses). Kind of hard to work on a project that is not directly paying you when you have to earn a living from other work. I'm not saying its right by any means, but misallocation of funds could very well be why this project is moving at such a slow pace at the moment (last kickstarter update (for backers only), was over 8 months ago in October 2012). On July 25 2013 04:35 Plansix wrote: You people need to learn how to use twitter. All the updates for both of these documentaries are on there. They are editing and putting the firm together, which normally takes longer that shooting the film. So given Sons of Starcraft started shooting in Fall 2011 and finished in Spring 2013, one shouldn't be expecting the film until at least Fall 2014? The best way for these guys to save face with the community (outside of releasing the film very soon), IMO, is to release their budget of the kickstarter funds to show the people that their money is not being wasted. Being a year and a half removed from when it finished funding, and 8+ months from the target release date (and any sort of official word on it), FWIW, last interview I could find with the director, Jeffrey Alejos in Dec 2012 Lots of fluff, loved this line: "I wanted to be like, Alright, well, keep them interested, show them what they paid for, be as open as possible." Being "as open as possible" would be giving the community at the very least monthly updates on where the project is. Not too difficult to make a quick minute youtube video or even letting the backers know on kickstarter the status. Such structured updates would have been a better way to hold himself accountable too and keep the eye on the prize. Also, given his original kickstarter stated he was from LA, CA, and in that video he now says he lives in Korea...perhaps this was a way to kickstart his move to Korea to be near his buddy Tasteless? Or was he in Korea this entire time and somehow found a way around Kickstarter's rule of only US or UK based projects?

It's takes 3-5 years to get a movie from concept to script to film to theaters. Documentaries work in reverse, since they "write" the story after the film. Creating the film might take longer than filming it. But an update wouldn't be bad.
