I think they should have a pretty good idea of what is in the movie right now if it is going to be ready for blizzcon. The public (or just backers but that is less publicity) should get some text preview of what is in the movie from the director. I'm not sure if keeping everything secret until the movie releases is the best strategy when we can get interesting production stories.
As in how much the movie focuses on their past going to korea for broodwar, and how they present it visually besides interviews of them talking about stuff we have no footage of. How much of the movie is them backstage at tournaments and what we can expect from that besides them making funny jokes with people. (Contract negotiation drama?) How much will the movie focus on their current personal life or non starcraft casting activities any interesting storylines there? How where the decisions made on what to focus on or cut from the movie from all the footage they have.
Liquid rising got a lot of criticism it would be interesting to see a post from the director explaining what they learned from that or other esports documentaries and the responses they got to help them avoid making similar mistakes. Or did they really like liquid rising or some other documentary and we can expect a movie of a similar style? Either way it would make an interesting post I think.
Tumba " confirmed " in a skype chat or something with the author that “It is going to be released at Blizzcon or straight after…”
some more from that:
“The reason for lack of updates is simply that Jeff's an animal with this movie. He's regularly up until 6am kst, I don't believe he tried to purposely ignore rather he is dedicating all focus on getting the documentary out. He wants to let the doc speak for itself. I don't disagree that a lack of updates is wrong however, as a fan, I hope that the lack of updates is made up for by a fantastic product.
We are aiming for Blizzcon, it hasn't been announced officially because the composer needs a certain amount of time to get have his work completed. Also, it largely depends on our distribution partner, but the timing put it in line for Blizzcon and that is what we are shooting for. It was only maybe a few days before the tweet that the editors and composer were able to give set delivery.
However, as I am sure you and most others know, just because an editor or anyone working on a film says they will have a part of it complete on time doesn't guarantee that will happen. So sometime there are set backs. We are close enough now that the set backs would be a week or two not a month for example.
The reason that there wasn’t an official announcement is because Blizzcon is our internal target, not something that is full on public because unless they tell me 100% certain they can deliver by Blizzcon it would be terrible to announce only to disappoint people. However, where the film is at now I'm confident we will see a November release.
There will be an official announcement shortly, including which channels the film will be made available through.”
Everyone can try and divert attention away from the issue, even with InControl and TB coming into this thread is some bizarre attempt to save face, but that fact remains.
The people who donated money to this have been treated horribly, the people making the documentary have acted unprofessionally and the documentary, after two years, is still not out
These are incontrovertible facts. Everything else is pointless to argue about.
Realistically, unless this comes out and is actually the best documentary ever (and I doubt that's gonna happen), people are still gonna dislike it with how they've been treated.

Well, people paid for it, every promised release date so far has been broken (for 2 years now I believe) and the communication of the producers with the fans has been more horrible than the communication of MLG with SC2 fans.

it drew 40.000$ on kickstarter by 880 people
5 backers pledged 1000$ each
15 backers pledged $350 each
23 backers pledged $175 each
239 backers pledged $55 each
That's huge amount of money individuals have payed
The fuss isn't just about a delay, it is about a broken promise and tens of thousand dollars, some individuals payed hundreds to a thousand dollars for it.

This is wrong in my personal experience. Generally speaking, fuzz like this rarely is about just some mess-up. The vast majority of the time, it happens because the party, which people think is at fault, or people who are strongly affiliated with the party deny all charges, whether it be by direct denial or by remaining silent despite all the uproar. Very rarely does commodity like this happen in the case the party assumes all the blame the people think they should.

It isn't about the delays at this point, but rather the lack of communication as you and others pointed out. Its just hilarious that he had the gall to give this interview
and say "I wanted to be like, Alright, well, keep them interested, show them what they paid for, be as open as possible." then go silent for months on end at a time. I really wish Richard Lewis would have directly asked Tumba about that interview as it is the only real communication he has done with regards to this project (but also nothing but fluff given it came from Handsome Nerd, which seems to be the umbrella organization for eMG/eMA clients which include Tastosis and Alejos).
It really isn't an extraordinary request for Alejos to give his backers monthly updates on what is going on. It would have taken 10 minutes out of his day once a month and there never would have been this "witch hunt" as Artosis called it. Perhaps if he had open communication with his backers, he would realize how hungry the community is for the documentary and it may not have been delayed this long. Rather he chose to live in a bubble cutting communication with the outside world, choosing to talk with his friends who aren't going to be nearly as critical as outsiders.
Its just sad that this and other long delayed kickstarters relating to Starcraft have turned off a lot of people in the community from wanting to support legitimate projects in the future. It also isn't going to look good if Alejos ever tries to use this as a reference for future projects he may want to request funding for. A Google search of "sons of starcraft" returns this thread in the top few results, so anyone researching it will find this shit storm and perhaps have second thoughts on whether to trust Alejos' word.
To think it all could have been avoided with a few tweets...

Yup that's it, I'm being paid by BIG DOCUMENTARY to try and divert attention from the REAL ISSUES.

While we're at it ignoring the main topic and adding more posts that sometimes over-interpret and even transform what others say, allow me to continue this trend.
Clearly BigKahunaBurger is way off, and does not understand the fact that if you pay money for something it is completely unreasonable to expect anything in return. One must wait at least 10 years before any results coming in and one shall not dare to be so bold to speak of anything else.

I didn't say you were being paid to divert attention from it.
I said, you came into this thread and took it completely off tangent to save face for yourself.
This thread is not about you, nor is it about inControl or the nature of caster's salaries.
If you want to try and change the topic, start a new thread. This is about the documentary Sons of Starcraft. Please stay on topic.
In all fairness two years to have a documentary released would be quite impressive to say the least. That being said they should have realized that they wouldn't be able to do it and I highly doubt they are working THAT hard to have it out soon that the couldn't make a tweet to update that it's being delayed. If they were at least tangible in what is happening they could take another 5 years and it wouldn't be this bad if they just let the donors know where their money is at. Shouldn't be too difficult considering it was promised to the donors, honestly they could just give the money to charity if this isn't going to happen although that being said I really do hope it will be out at blizzcon because I am excited to see what it turned out as and hopefully everybody learns a lesson from this.
