Props to KawaiiRice, Gretorp, and desRow for not only doing a lot of work to verify what they said, but also for holding out and contacting SPG and Zeek. It would be so easy to just lob out a half-assed accusation, but to wait and give parties an opportunity to respond before things like this blow up is admirable. This isn't just a drama thread - it is approached in an appropriate manner. Stock inr KawaiiRice just went up in my book.

Banning her from Esports is a bit extreme, but TL I can see as a deserved ban, since we have control over this community.
DeathAngel deserves no Ban IMO.

Shouldn't TL demand a reply from VeraLynn. TL has the moral authority being the main site for Esports, and this incident is something that definitely deserves to be resolved soon, with people getting scammed of their money and betrayed.

If this is true, why stream for her? What benefit did that give you? Did she just ask you to?
I'm genuinely curious, not trying to condemn you or anything.

First off, I somehow doubt DA was getting all the showmatch money, second, it's still not "fair and square." If there was an iNcontroL vs. Illusion showmatch and iNcontroL has MC play for him, it's still not fair for MC to take the money even if iNcontroL lets him take it all just so he can brag that he's beaten Illusion. It's not an open tournament where there's money up for grabs and whoever is the best gets the money, it's a showmatch where it's supposed to be two specific invited people playing.

I feel deathangel probably does deserve some punishment for playing showmates as veralyn, but I don't think he deserves much punishment, but that's just me.
He's just doing damage control right now and trying to salvage his name under pseudo honesty and feigned ignorance. There are a lot of strange holes in this story but they'll never be filled without Vera's telling.

Yeah, DA is essentially a no-name who would get next to zero viewers. The idea of someone being female gives them a given amount of views. A girl as skilled as DA is more eventful and interesting than DA or the girl on their own. Combine their powers and suddenly you've got a not-shitty situation.

What do you mean...? She basically dissapeared and deleted anything related to her and SC2. I think KR's investigation was thorough enough, coupled with DA coming forward (to some extent) that we can assume she is guilty. If she really wants to defend her innocence I'm sure no one would object to her telling her side, but at this point it doesn't look like we will ever hear that. I guess if someone lives in Ireland they could confront her.... but realistically all we can do is take measures to make sure this doesn't happen again.

This is not only abysmal because it's fraud, but it's just plain disappointing because of the role model that VeraLynn pretended to be for other female gamers. To know that VeraLynn would specifically market herself as one of the best female players, when such a niche needs to be filled (there's almost no one significant except for Scarlett), makes it twice as bad in my book. It's incredibly, incredibly sad.
Well done by KawaiiRice, Gretorp, and desRow though. These things need to be brought to the community's attention. As far as DeathAngel[ro] goes... I don't know what to think of him. What he's said so far in this thread hasn't really garnered that much sympathy from me, and he was an accomplice to fraud... but he didn't hack or cheat on his own, so I don't really know where to place him on the spectrum of scumbaggery.
