This is such an awful viewpoint, it's baffling.
The only reason people like politicians or athletes with the kind of reputation like Tiger Woods apologize is because the people who market them, so, the people who tell them what to say and how to look, tell them they have to apologize in order to not lose their popular support.
People like Tiger Woods need that popular support because he quite literally sells his face. His name on a golf bag or some shit will, I repeat will, sell more units then a golf bag without his name.
For someone on ROOT, this image doesn't exist. And to try and liken the two would be naive and foolish. ROOT players are being sponsored by specific companies, and as such, are required to wear their shit at tournaments and not kill anyone or something. But to think that a progamer is someone who makes money on their image and face, to the point where they have to change how they talk, act, and look is so unbelievably stupid, it boggles the mind. Except for maybe EG or something, 'esports' simply does not operate under the same terms that things like nike endorsements and such do.
Now maybe, in order for esports to become legitimate this has to change, but to be honest, I really don't think I would want to follow esports if it was all about endorsements, selling jerseys with a players name on the back and shit. That's one of the worst things about professional sports, and for me, one of the great things about esports is the fact that the players are real people, it allows us as fans, to relate to them. Can you relate to Lebron James? No, of course not. But progamers are much more human, because they have their faults, their fuck-ups.
