As emotionally invested as people are on this topic, TL rules still apply. That includes flaming and ad hominem attacks.

God, I think I've been gone from the starcraft scene for too long. Who is Destiny and why is he worth 70 pages of replies...? I've been watching his stream and his skill and the amount of attention he gets =/=.

Oh for fuck's sake, I bet everyone judging Destiny has said things in private conversations that would look just as bad if they got leaked. Get off your high horses.

I agree with this mostly. The hate for Fayth and TT1 is also somewhat ridiculous. Some of these people are shockingly abusive with their harping and negative attitude towards them. Root made a commendable decision in also deciding to suspend Fayth and TT1, and these kids are trying to provoke a reaction or something out of them. I don't even know.

kind of hard to like someone when they publicly abuse a person's look just for the sake of doing it.

privately*

what privately, you just criticize her a few more times few pages ago

I just reiterated what was already public..... I mean yeah just because this has been made public didn't change my opinion on her looks, I'm sorry, and I also told her that when we discussed on skype while she was on steven's account

you're not sorry, you're just a douche bag. At least have the decency to apologize for your criticism now that its public

we get it, you're an unlikable ass. Nobody wants to hear your newly iteration of why someone is ugly

He might be a douchebag (I remember his posts in Scarlett's fanclub) but I don't have a problem with criticising someone's looks in private, and if your opinion's already been leaked publicly no point denying it.

I feel bad for destiny in the sense that he is no longer on a team I am sure he truly enjoyed being a part of. This being said, they all remain friends and I am sure they will continue to practice together.

I just hope Destiny can slowly try to become less of a charged individual for the sake of his own career. Both current and future. Some places deny jobs to people based on what they find on facebook. With the number of controversies Destiny has been a part of he may have a hard time getting a professional job in the future.

Wait what is that true? I have never heard anything about that before. Like if someone had something bad happened to them thru facebook that could lead to something else? uhm.. I don't think that will threaten Destiny's future getting a job.

As funny as this thread is, you're probably gonna regret posting stuff like this in the future.

lol seriously how naive can people be, you see idra talk shit about other players all the time in front of the cam, you think he doesn't say those things behind their backs either? wtf lol

everybody is going to say negative things about someone else at some point in his life, the fact the there was a creepy stalker girl logged in to read it and leak it for revenge doesn't make it worse

I'm just saying from one guy to another it's never a good idea to name drop specific people in cases like this.

well he's the most know BM figure so I don't see how it would do him any harm, it's just an exemple since everybody knows him

Is this guys seriously a professional player representing a brand? I feel bad for whoever their sponsors are, these guys are seriously running wild like immature kids. Who cares what people say what in private or behind their backs? I don't give a rat's ass if IdrA or destiny's talks smack behind other people's back? Who cares?

The problem comes when you engage in excessive inappropriate behavior Is talking smack in a competitive scene inappropriate? No. It promotes competitiveness and allows viewers to be more excited.

Is sharing pics of nude people inappropriate behavior? In private, who the hell cares? In public...of course it is. How can you say you wouldn't be punished if it became public? That's just stupidity to think Destiny shouldn't get punished. IdrA talk shit all the time, thats just part of the game. Come post here if he does crap like Destiny and then you can talk.

You defending Destiny is just as dumb. Seriously don't post dude, you're just making ROOT more of a joke. Such childish and immature behavior for a "pro" gamer.

well the nude pics were never made public, ever, so yeah ur entire post is invalid

he's not talking about the actual pic being made public, but the ACT of that a private and intimate picture were being shared without consent of the owner being made public

and nobody representing ROOT did exactly that, so what's the point?

The point is that what destiny did actually did become public knowledge.

Because someone invaded his privacy

Which is bad, but destiny still did something terrible.

Wow it was PRIVATE conversation, as if you guys never did that. Ofc it was not ok to share nude pics of someone who trusted you, i wouldnt do it. But EVERYONE of us had this kind of "mantalk", judging girls on their looks, boobs whatever. Everyone who is saying he isnt doing it is either a) a liar or b) doesnt have any friends to do this kind of conversation. So dont be such hypocrites. I dont think that what destiny did was 100% ok, because it wasnt. It was not ok to share nude pics. Then again i guess both guys didnt know who she was.

Still i hate this "political correctness" shit because it is so twofaced and hypocritic. People messaging the sponsors are the WORST kind of people i could EVER imagine. You people are the reason why the world is fucking two faced. You people are making other people hold back about their TRUE thoughts and opinions because if they acutally would say their TRUE REAL opinions they most likely would suffer from any kind of public punishment. Thats why there is so much shit in the world that acutally shouldnt be there because nobody wants to talk the realtalk. Everybody keeps hiding their real opinion and exchanges his opionen with a "political correct" opionion so he/she doesnt have to suffer from any kind of punishment by the hypocrits.
Well this might post might be blown up too much for this kind of little thing but yet it is true. It will start to corrupt esports because if someone does something that is "inappropriate" some hypocrits will start messaging their sponsors and they will get punished. Great job. Hope you enjoy yourself making esports steril and colourless. I hope you enjoy yourself destroying the freedom of the top gamers to misbehave. We all play games to get a rest from the allday stuff and sometimes we misbehave and we do say stupid things, but that is a big part why we acutally like the gamingcommunity. And then all of a sudden if someone has some decent success and his "carreer" becomes public people want the gamers to change? For what reason? Take a way their joy in misbehaving? It is a part of esports its a part of the esports culture. Yes esports is becoming more professional but the professional side shouldnt ruin the basic concept. Our "escape" from the real world, even if it is just for a brief moment.

Now he did what? Having a private conversation with two guys and sending nude pictures of a girl he shouldnt have. Ok thats not correct but still this kind of mistake now forces a good friend of him to disband him from the team. This shit shouldnt have never ever any impact on his gaming career whatsoever, but yet it has, thanks to all the pathetic hypocrits out there.

basicly he just had bad luck enraging the wrong people. im posting the link again and people should read it and then you know who emailed the sponsors. they listed all of destinys moves and found out he is a two faced lier with double standards and that pissed them off quite good...

As I see it, they were a bunch of whining feminists who instead of doing something constructive, decided to take their issues out on a guy who streams videogames for a living.

As somebody who actual sympathises with women, I hate seeing things like this and would rather they put their energies to more productive use.

you should just read it . its a very good read and doesnt focus entirely on the sexting rather then his whole persona . shit like this on context of the alleged 15 year old wanting to send him pics
[1:19:07 PM] Steven Bonnell II: so hard to say no
[1:19:11 PM] Steven Bonnell II: gonna get arrested one of these MLGs man

So fucking what? It's a bit of transgressive humour perhaps, taken out of context.

There are much more pressing issues for women with societal grievances to deal with instead of this. How about emailing cosmetics companies about how they portray women in advertisements? How about emailing advertisters in woman's magazines that they feel portray women badly, raising their concerns?

Nope, instead the go after a small fish like Destiny so they can feel powerful and part of something. It's repugnant behaviour to me and is the single most depressing part of the 'internet' as it is nowadays. The tearing down of anybody even remotely famous so people can get off on their own part, however insignificant in bringing about that fall.

That's the entire point of the gossip industry.

I do know this. I don't share that particular mentality I guess so I don't really get it. I just find the whole voyeuristic media culture rather distasteful personally, especially when its coupled with rank hypocrisy.

Still I suppose if it's what people want, and employs talentless fucking hacks then it's here to stay

To be honest the thing Destiny said that really bothered me was that he said he wouldnt accept naked pictures of underage girls ONLY because he thought they might be a setup. That's pretty damn dodgy no matter which way you slice it.

Just because what the girl did was worse than what destiny did, does not make what destiny did less terrible. They are BOTH, yes both, in the wrong here.

You're associated with companies who intend on making money off a brand you wear on your shoulders. You're professionals at that point and your SPONSORS typically expect you to conduct yourself as such.

If the rest of the pro community is as short sighted as you're being, I really fear for the future of eSports.

since when do you have to be professional at all time, isn't there some time for casual?

that depends on what you mean "for casual". try appyling a simple thought experiment to the things you do in your free time like 'if this became public would i be fired from my team?' if yes, don't do it.

So a good reason not to do something is because there's a remote chance someone will vengefully recruit some people from the internet who have nothing to do with your job to lambast you to your sponsors? With no consideration for the possibility that those people might be dead wrong?

i don't think that what you just said had very much to do with what i did. but no, there are also moral reasons not to do something

The reason is you're just black boxing the mechanism of "this will get me fired." It's not the case that bad things always get people fired, or that people who don't do bad things don't get fired. There are ethical bases for an expectation of privacy. What's the reason I should care at all what other people do in private?

the expectation of privacy is a mistake and nothing that should be assumed. thats not my opinion thats how things are. he's a public figure on a team whose revenue is dependent on sponsorships therefore what he does in private could have consequences for him.

Yes, it's pragmatic to be wary of the fact that there could always be someone watching. I was speaking ethically, that's why I said "ethical," so unless you're going to take the position that people shouldn't have privacy, you haven't contradicted me, just dodged the point.

Your analysis is on the level of "well watch out, sometimes if you go outside, you might get shot." That doesn't mean people are going to stop going outside, or that we should stop working to fix our society so we don't shoot people.
all the while you may not care but other people may

No, why should anyone care? What's the reason? Your argument is someone should lose his job just because he did something in private, someone violated that privacy, and someone else... cared?

there is no privacy for people working in the entertaining industry, don't work in that field if it bothers you that much.

I literally just said:

i'm not terribly interested in presenting my own view of why i feel its morally wrong for a "public" figure to do what destiny did or why im interested in setting a standard for professionalism in e-sports. my original point was that Fayth wanted to make the distinction between his public and private actions while i argued that it was non-sensical for him to think that such a distinction existed since his private actions could become public creating negative consequences that he should expect. he could also have moral reasons for not being an asshole i just didn't feel like appealing to that side would do much good seeing his replies earlier in the thread.

Your view of professionalism seems to be based around an idea of phantom "negative consequences" which involve a vocal minority that isn't part of the community writing enough angry letters to get someone ejected from a team. If you can't elaborate, this is untenable.

i didn't say that, i said i'm not going to put forward my viewpoint because who gives a shit. you can find it as untenable as you want.

having said that negative consequences are not a phantom idea they are a concrete concept, apparent by the fact the Destiny has in fact been fired.

I'm still bothered by the fact that he couldn't get Mia Rose to do some freaky shit.

I'd imagine he was joking, seems pretty consistent with his personality.

I'll put it this way...

The second you join a team and become a sponsored player, you are thereby giving up your right to act "how you please". The second you make that choice to be a sponsored player and become part of an organization, you are then representing your team, and your sponsors. You are then making a choice and commitment to act and present yourself NOT how you want, but in the way that is in the best interest of your team and sponsors

So if you don't want to have to give up how you are, or how you want to act, then don't fucking join a sponsored team. Destiny doesn't seem to understand this phenomenon.

Simple.

lol, did you ever listen to idra?

Idra seems to know the line..

He can keep his persona without pissing off his sponsors.

oh yeah, you think he doesn't talk shit behind people's back in private?

Were the nude pics confirm to actually exist? Yes
Did it demonstrate that Destiny engaged in inappropriate behavior? Yes
Did the inappropriate behavior hurt the sponsor's brand as a result? Yes
Does the Sponsor have justifiable reasons to terminate Destiny? Yes
Was this controversy made public with the above held true? Yes

The pics doesn't have to be public. If the act itself was made public and true, it still ruins the sponsor's image.

Just because what the girl did was worse than what destiny did, does not make what destiny did less terrible. They are BOTH, yes both, in the wrong here.

Well it's hard trying to convince so many people in this thread! Not everyone is going to get it you know.

I don't even know.

kind of hard to like someone when they publicly abuse a person's look just for the sake of doing it.

what privately, you just criticize her a few more times few pages ago

I just reiterated what was already public..... I mean yeah just because this has been made public didn't change my opinion on her looks, I'm sorry, and I also told her that when we discussed on skype while she was on steven's account

you're not sorry, you're just a douche bag. At least have the decency to apologize for your criticism now that its public

we get it, you're an unlikable ass. Nobody wants to hear your newly iteration of why someone is ugly

yeah sure I'm a douchebag because I don't think a girl is good looking

whatever floats ur boat man -_-

you went past the point of stating someone is not good looking, and keep your disrespectful and inconsiderate criticism on someone's look to yourself.

At least he's not indulging in dishonest 'omg I'm soooo sorry'. I feel it was disrespectful to said girl, but equally props to Fayth for confessing to it.

he's not talking about the actual pic being made public, but the ACT of that a private and intimate picture were being shared without consent of the owner being made public

and nobody representing ROOT did exactly that, so what's the point?

The point is that what destiny did actually did become public knowledge.

Because someone invaded his privacy

Which is bad, but destiny still did something terrible.

Terrible? He showed two close friends pictures of a naked girl. Any girl, or guy for that matter, that sends a naked picture to someone they are not in a relationship with should expect them to share it with their closest friends. People like to brag, they like to hear opinions, it's human nature. If you don't understand this, then you are an idiot and shouldn't be sending pictures in the first place.
