Chad Johnson headbutting his girlfriend has nothing to do with Football, but it got him kicked off the Dolphins didn't it? You're associated with companies who intend on making money off a brand you wear on your shoulders. You're professionals at that point and your SPONSORS typically expect you to conduct yourself as such. If the rest of the pro community is as short sighted as you're being, I really fear for the future of eSports. since when do you have to be professional at all time, isn't there some time for casual? that depends on what you mean "for casual". try appyling a simple thought experiment to the things you do in your free time like 'if this became public would i be fired from my team?' if yes, don't do it. So a good reason not to do something is because there's a remote chance someone will vengefully recruit some people from the internet who have nothing to do with your job to lambast you to your sponsors? With no consideration for the possibility that those people might be dead wrong? i don't think that what you just said had very much to do with what i did. but no, there are also moral reasons not to do something The reason is you're just black boxing the mechanism of "this will get me fired." It's not the case that bad things always get people fired, or that people who don't do bad things don't get fired. There are ethical bases for an expectation of privacy. What's the reason I should care at all what other people do in private? the expectation of privacy is a mistake and nothing that should be assumed. thats not my opinion thats how things are. he's a public figure on a team whose revenue is dependent on sponsorships therefore what he does in private could have consequences for him. Yes, it's pragmatic to be wary of the fact that there could always be someone watching. I was speaking ethically, that's why I said "ethical," so unless you're going to take the position that people shouldn't have privacy, you haven't contradicted me, just dodged the point. Your analysis is on the level of "well watch out, sometimes if you go outside, you might get shot." That doesn't mean people are going to stop going outside, or that we should stop working to fix our society so we don't shoot people. No, why should anyone care? What's the reason? Your argument is someone should lose his job just because he did something in private, someone violated that privacy, and someone else... cared?
i'm not terribly interested in presenting my own view of why i feel its morally wrong for a "public" figure to do what destiny did or why im interested in setting a standard for professionalism in e-sports. my original point was that Fayth wanted to make the distinction between his public and private actions while i argued that it was non-sensical for him to think that such a distinction existed since his private actions could become public creating negative consequences that he should expect. he could also have moral reasons for not being an asshole i just didn't feel like appealing to that side would do much good seeing his replies earlier in the thread.

This whole incident really shows his own level of insecurity.. Going behind a friend's back and doing some shit like he did is just disgusting.. The girl trusted him with the pictures, but he went and gave them out to friends... The worst part of all of this is obviously him sending her a picture of his dong. I honestly thought that weird lonely guys on chat roulette did that sorta stuff, and not someone who's suppose to be a "Professional" gamer. It's quite unfortunate that someone with so much talent and intelligence could be such a horrible person.. But his actions still don't surprise me lol
Good move ROOT Wait, so what you're saying is that it's alright for a female to send nudes to a guy, but not the other way around? And if you do send pictures of your dong to a girl, especially after she had sent nudes to you, you're weird and lonely? God damn mang, you just went full derp. Taking pictures of your member or sexting is for children, this is not how men act. When is the last time you heard about Chuck Norris "sexting" or trading pictures of his wee wee to a lady? What's the latest on Lebron James' penis pic? This is not how a man behaves, this is the act of a clown. My oh my what a circus. It's almost like you people never watched pro sports before, this kind of behavior isn't even remotely acceptable. There's a reason you only hear of isolated incidents in pro sports, they are uncommon and when something happens it's all over the news. Not to mention little kids love starcraft and now my 5 year old son has been crying ever since he's been exposed to this clowns genitals, you should be ashamed of yourselves. But it's alright for women to act like that right? You seemed to miss what I was getting at. I was pointing out MysteryTerran's idea that is was alright for Bluetea to send nudes, but terrible and weird for Destiny to, especially since it was after she had sent hers. I was simply pointing out that terrible double standard, not how I feel it's perfectly fine to sext and what not.

Yes, because sharing nude pics to 5 people is much, much worse than sharing nude photos to thousands of people and having it permanently on the internet for anyone to see.
Destiny haters are some of the most blind people in existence. See what you want to see. But it's far from the truth.

I think the sad part is that the complaints that led to this were a very small, vocal part of the community. As you can see, people are still divided on how serious the issue was and what the appropriate punishment should have been. While I think it was a scumbag and pathetic thing to do, I don't think it should resulted in him getting kicked off the team. It should not have been public in the first place. Unfortunately that decision was based on seriously other companies (with a lot of money and sponsorships) took the cry of that minority.
The other bad part is that Destiny can't separate his private life from his public life. He's not some IT guy who has a weird fetish but knows his shit inside and out. In that case his bosses would be willing to overlook his private stuff for the fact that he's really damn good at his job. Even if he was a pro NBA player it could be overlooked if he was extremely productive and essential to the team's success. But here his personality is his job.

If fayth and TT1 were punished for the actions of destiny, that is not fair. What they did might be a bit shitty, but not to the extent of the person sharing the nude pics, and certainly not to the extent as to be punished.

Hope you enjoy yourself making esports steril and colourless. I hope you enjoy yourself destroying the freedom of the top gamers to misbehave. We all play games to get a rest from the allday stuff and sometimes we misbehave and we do say stupid things, but that is a big part why we acutally like the gamingcommunity. And then all of a sudden if someone has some decent success and his "carreer" becomes public people want the gamers to change? For what reason? Take a way their joy in misbehaving? It is a part of esports its a part of the esports culture. Yes esports is becoming more professional but the professional side shouldnt ruin the basic concept. Our "escape" from the real world, even if it is just for a brief moment.
Now he did what? Having a private conversation with two guys and sending nude pictures of a girl he shouldnt have. Ok thats not correct but still this kind of mistake now forces a good friend of him to disband him from the team. This shit shouldnt have never ever any impact on his gaming career whatsoever, but yet it has, thanks to all the pathetic hypocrits out there.
basicly he just had bad luck enraging the wrong people. im posting the link again and people should read it and then you know who emailed the sponsors. they listed all of destinys moves and found out he is a two faced lier with double standards and that pissed them off quite good... http://www.reddit.com/r/ShitRedditSays/comments/ytijd/effortpost_starcraft_2_player_steve_bonnell_aka/ As I see it, they were a bunch of whining feminists who instead of doing something constructive, decided to take their issues out on a guy who streams videogames for a living. As somebody who actual sympathises with women, I hate seeing things like this and would rather they put their energies to more productive use. you should just read it . its a very good read and doesnt focus entirely on the sexting rather then his whole persona . shit like this on context of the alleged 15 year old wanting to send him pics Show nested quote +[1:19:07 PM] Steven Bonnell II: so hard to say no [1:19:11 PM] Steven Bonnell II: gonna get arrested one of these MLGs man So fucking what? It's a bit of transgressive humour perhaps, taken out of context.
There are much more pressing issues for women with societal grievances to deal with instead of this. How about emailing cosmetics companies about how they portray women in advertisements? How about emailing advertisters in woman's magazines that they feel portray women badly, raising their concerns?
Nope, instead the go after a small fish like Destiny so they can feel powerful and part of something. It's repugnant behaviour to me and is the single most depressing part of the 'internet' as it is nowadays. The tearing down of anybody even remotely famous so people can get off on their own part, however insignificant in bringing about that fall.

Get off your high horses. You missed the part where destiny shared nude pics to his friends, remain on our horse we shall. No I didn't, I don't agree with that, but if that's the issue then what Bluetea did is much much worse Just because what she did was worse, does not make what destiny did less worse.
