Can we stop fucking talking about BW vs SC2?
It has no relevance to this topic. The only thing needing to be discussed in this topic is:
1. Whats blizzards response. 2. eSF boycotting OSL 3. Kespa going back on their word.
Back to the topic please, unless the discussion is done, in which case can a mod lock the thread? we dont need fucking flame wars

Actually yes it was. Could you elaborate for those of us who are unfamiliar with how it was? Thanks. I guess I could keep it simple so it's easier to follow. BW lasted for over a decade. That definitely defies the shelf-life of a game competitively. It had a decent following or else it would have caved a long time ago and something else would have replaced it sooner. I know you're gonna pull some smartass answer like this. BW does not defy shelf-life of a game competitively. It got popular since Boxer time, which is around 2002. Counter Strike was released before that time and still being played competitively in Europe until now. Age of Empire is still being played competitively in SEA and China right now. And hell, even dota, although it is a mod, was being played competitively since 2005 until now and still going very strong and 100% will surpass BW's time. What BW did is impressive, sure, but not magical. It simply followed the rule of supply and demand. If there were no BW, other games would get popular in Korea anyway. jk if there were no BW, Boxer might have been KoF98 and made it an esports (provided SNK doesn't make new version every year and leave KoF98 alone like Blizzard did with BW, fuq SNK)
If you just want to go on when it was played competitively, then it was from the moment BW was released, and probably before that. OSL started in 1999, long before Boxer won his first StarLeague. None of those games you mentioned were even close to the popularity and scope BW was. It would be like me saying professional pool is as large as the NBA.
I get it. You hate BW, it's fans, KeSPA, everything about it because people believe it is the greatest thing gaming has ever created, but at least educate yourself on what you are talking about.

Fuck kespa, lets burn that mother down. I have some torches, all we need are some pitchforks so we can really get this uprising going!

So.. they said they're pulling out gsl players until Kespa plays in the GSL. Kespa agrees to play in the next GSL. Does this qualify? Seems a bit ambiguous to me, don't quite understand if EFS meant [this] gsl, or just gsl in general (next season).

so far it seems that they will boycott untill kespa joins
so currently, 8 of the ro16 are not playing, unless kespa changes their mind

At this point, the only way for KeSPa to know us foreigners/koreans immense displeasure is internet vigilante activities but I don't see that happening in 4chan's SC2 threads. And they won't do it anyways since reddit is of the same opinion as us and they absolutely hate reddit to the point where they'll side with KeSPa just for sake of hating on reddit.

Please, tell me, where is the so called "competitively played Age of Empires?" NO, THERE ISN'T ONE. Please do not fire a statement basing on non-senses. BW is the biggest esports title to date, hands down, maybe followed by Counter-Strike and Warcraft 3. But just stop the BW vs SC2 stuff, I'm just here to clarify things up, at least what is happening in China.

Nope, nothing's changed. They previously announced that they'll participate in season 4 and look where we at right now. It's not the first time they did this too. They pulled the similar shit during the BW era with TG-Sambo Intel Classic, which was run by GOM.

As fas as I know, ESF is not backing off. And the reason for this is OGN begin to pressure KeSPA a lot and quite unsatisfied with the decision done by KeSPA. So ESF is probably just waiting for the OGN/KeSPA's negotiation result.
All above are rumors from fan site, no official statement though.

that sounds reasonable

Note that it's 4 am or so in Korea right now, so we should not expect any more developments from ESF/GOM/KeSPA for at least another few hours.

There wasn't such an announcement.

Only they didn't. The 'similar shit they pulled' was PLAYERS AND COACHES not wanting to play in so many leagues at te same time, all KeSPA did was make it official. Get your facts straight.

So what do they want? Do they want KESPA players to be able to choose to join the GSL, or do they want KESPA players in the GSL?

That's why I said "similar," not " same." Why don't you read properly next time?

DOC WHAT YEAR ARE WE IN?

Kespa can ban all GSL teams and players in the future and we would have 2 Korean scenes, one online and one on TV

It was made clear in the KeSPA players' interviews that they want to play in GSL. So yeah, interpret that however you will.
