0 micro-worthy units introduced. Not even the damage or balance, the entire thing is slow paced. We have a unit that does massive damage for absolutely 0 effort to basically the core protoss units, it auto fire extra damage which makes NO sense in a game where everything has been about "working" for your kills.
If the tempest is gonna be that slow, it seriously needs reaver-tiered damaged, and we're talking reaver tiered-damage in starcraft 1. That'd translate to like 200 damage in SC2 because everything and their mom seems to have at least 100 hp. It seriously needs to kill most units in 1 shot, EVEN if that means the fire rate has to be dropped even more.
Oracle: does too much, too easily. That entomb spells needs to be channeling & unkillable or something. At the moment, clicking 1 button and running away & then having the opponent having to kill off that is just plainly unimaginative. At least, make it riskier for the oracle...

Yeah, it's retarded if you think about it. lol. Dustin Browder and his rocks. ^^

I want more micro.... less autopilot!
Why not just give phoenixes no energy requirement to use graviton catapult? Would make for harassment that required active control and focus, maybe as a trade-off they could take away it's ability to shoot while moving?
Best idea I've ever heard!
Yeah, I actually applied for Blizzard's design team but they turned me down, said that a triple figure IQ disqualified me immediately.

Well obviously not in the Battle Report, but I'm eagerly awaiting SotG feedback.

I didn't really liked the feeling of the game overall... Oracle will be incredibly strong or underpowered, there'll be no middle ground just like reaper. From this battle report it just look like a "build the right robots from the right houses" 1A game.
here we go agine..another balance shit talk ? , abouth game that isint even in closed beta stage ? omg.. WoL was half year in beta ! , go at you tube and watch some vids from WoL alpha.
I agree with this, and think panicking/theory-crafting is completely worthless at this stage.
However, you'd think after the development of WoL Blizzard would have some idea of what would improve SC2. This battle report is concerning because it seems to show a complete lack of understanding as to what the community desires in making this a more fun and competitive game. They appear to be making the exact same mistakes they made with the early WoL builds - dumb gimmicky units, extremely overpowered units, and horrible maps. One would have hoped that after 2 years of watching the game develop they would have some idea how to improve it, and not have a BR that demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of what the community desires.
The animated portraits for the Warhound, Oracle, and Tempest look pretty cool. I think the Oracle's pilot is female since there seemed to be a feminine scream when it blew up to that Widow Mine.
The Stargate's warp-in animation looked a bit bugged.
The Nexus looks slightly different for some reason.
The Gateway's work animation looks kinda weird without the crystal, and when it does have a crystal, it's darkened as though the building is unpowered. I guess this is a bug.

Not chargelots, they have battle hellions for that
so battle hellions + warhounds + tanks == ?? whats the toss counter?
Immort-
Shit.
Just wait for the patch.
Counter is air..? zero of these units cant attack air ? Tank dmg from tanks.. and storms shit of them ? Counter ? at expos , or go for base trade..mech is slow.. Sit back with collosus defence and wait for unsiege then attack ? and many many more..
Despite not playing SC2 in months I was pretty certain that I would get HOTS. Now I'm not even sure... I'm sure it would be fun to try the new units for a bit. But if this battle report is any indication, I think they missed their big opportunity to overhaul the gameplay and add interesting units. All they had to do was take a look at the dynamics in their previous game...

Current state of affairs I'd imagine multiple warp prisms, drops all over the place, recalls into your base and repeat until you grind down your opponent?
But widow mines O.o
Position, blink stalkers, and air (pheonix, tempest later).
Phoenix is uncontested without marines - denies hellion pressure with map control, and outpositions slow vikings, which eat into mech strength.

yeah i think so haha. What i really didnt like in the battle report was the toss durped with them so hard, like he didnt have stalkers under them so they just got target fired by vikings every time like really? they have like 23 range vikings have 9 they like shouldnt even be able to poke at them because stalkers should always be under them. Was really sad.
And this is the problem. Another tier 3 unit that toss has to babysit with stalkers. I think we're ready for something new.
They need a lot less babysitting though. Their range allows them to shoot from safe places while main army engages somewhere else. This is not colossus type babysitting, they don't need to walk together, it's more of a "zone" you want to control, better babysitter might be templars.

LOL. Someone please tell me that a custom map can be made where each time you destroy rocks it spawns 3x more rocks with 4x more HP.
Blizzard is inspired by the Mars Rover. MOAR ROCKS!

Sorry, but if I can't say what I think about the units they showcased and the scenario presented, what should I comment about it? Just say "I don't like it but it'll surely be awesome one day!" ? If they don't want real feedback, just some compliments, show it to their family, if they're going to release anything, there'll complaints and I rather make them now than when it's already on beta and the unit concepts are pretty much locked.
It feels like they are sending the game back to the stone age -_-
Bad map, "good macro" is 3k minerals in the bank according to day 9.
Using only new units and the tempest looks super underwhelming. I remember it was supposed to be AoE vs light. Now its + vs massive?
It will be Tempests sieging other massive units. I don't like how its massive units vs massive units from PvZ. As it looks, the Tempests will die quickly to corrupters, once the distance is closed by infestor/brood/corrupter and without vortex its all wasted supply in the tempests.
I dont know what to think but this battle report and the others make the game seem super far from being finished.
I want it to hit beta, let really good players mess with it and then balance from there. Do design with some more input of the more competitive players you might see something a little more interesting.
Or make the Battle reports between a couple of different higher ranked players?
IDK what to think from these reports. They feel more useless than anything else at this point.
broodlord infestor still trash both of the death balls. In order to counter tanks as a toss we also have a flying tank called tempest and able to attack at a even longer range.
I seriously hope these battle reports aren't showing off new ladder maps for HotS, this map (and the other one from the other two battle reports) is horrific.

I liked the Tempest too It seems like an interesting way to force the issue - especially if Vikings are held off by Stalkers like Picklebread says. I don't understand how it is "too weak" haha, it has a ridiculous range so that as long they Tempests are well defended they can do absurd amounts of damage/take positional control over time.
I think the coolest thing for Protoss is the T1 mass recall though. Definitely something I miss from BW, since there is only 1 Mothership people use it for Vortex 95% of the time and neglect Recall (with Arbitars you could Stasis and Recall all you pleased =P) so I am looking forward to that as well.
I also like the collapsable rock towers as far as neat game mechanics go, interesting to see where they will go with that/if it will be actually good for gameplay or not.
Yeah, the Battle Report wasn't that good, but I think considering that it is still in Alpha we can't completely lose hope for HotS. Much of what was crappy about the report was the players' failure, not necessairly the game's.
