Agree so much! PuMa was(apparently) one of the most requested practice partners in BW and then he got picked up by EG. In that GSTL game(granted it was just one game!) he looked quite pathetic. I remember that GSTL game where he beat BbongBbong, people thought this kid looks good. Then he beat MarineKing, who just got Ro4 in Super Tournament and then beat Polt, the champion of the super tournament! I think that he would have gone much farther had he stayed in Korea.

Wow, so you judge Puma off that one GSTL game? What about winning NASL 2 with EG? What about winning IEM Cologne with EG? What about his second place finish at DreamHack Winter 2011 and IEM World Championship season 6? Or his third place finishes at IEM China and Assembly in March? Dude has won nearly $100,000 while on EG.

Almost all of his best achievements in EG are done within a couple of months after he left TSL, after that, he gone down hill.

Edit: What he said that he has so much potential has he stayed with TSL to begin with.

DreamHack, NASL 2 were both like 5 months after joining EG. IEM Worlds and Assembly were even longer after. And now instead of the TSL house, he's at the SlayerS house. Hardly a downgrade.

@ jmbthirteen
Even though he placed well in those tournaments, let's be honest... the competition was much easier than even Code A. Most of the competitors in those tournaments would probably not even be Code A level (at least the foreigners). Those tournaments aren't as big/important as even MLG (which doesn't even have most of the koreans), let alone GSL.

Also, good point by brachester

So? He still beat guys like MC, Hero, DRG, Squirtle, July, and tons of other Code A/S players while winning those tournaments and performing well in them. Even in the last MLG Championship Event he finished 5/6. I'm not saying he is at best in the world status, but to say he hasn't flourished on EG because he hasn't been in GSL is ignorant.

Foreign teams have been very good for Koreans. I already listed Puma's accomplishments, MC flies around the world and gets top 3's all the time, Taeja has been a BOSS, Hero became a much better player, JYP is in Code S. Its up to the player to do well, not the team he is on.

Kind of expected. Seems like Koreans really want foreign exposure even if it means that the teams they join aren't really "up there".

That last sentence is absolute gold and 100% true.

edit: best of luck Sage, hopefully you find the passion and enjoy your new surroundings.

As far as I know NSHO is not that much of a rich team. So I wasn't surprised when I heard the transfer.

I just wonder what happens when the captain of the ship evacuates it first..

eh, it's not really in the spirit of "Be the best in the world!" and other idealistic pursuits, but realistically you have to make a risk/reward decision based on your talent as to whether you focus 100% on improving your skill, or make some concessions to get what financial gain you can out of progaming, a career path that in the majority of cases cannot be sustained past your early 20's.
