Our StarCraft II player Han Sang 'biGs' Cho will quit his professional gaming career in order to focus on his academic career instead. The Korean Zerg player who lives in Switzerland was one of Europes most talented young StarCraft II players.
He was one of the upcoming and talented Zerg players in Europe: When Han Sang 'biGs' Cho joined mousesports he improved every week, culminating in strong performances at the ESL Pro Series Spring 2012. However, biGs wasn't able to perform his best recently, due to a more time consuming non-gaming schedule, so it was a mutual step for the young adult to step back from professional gaming in order to focus on his academic career in the future.
We will release biGs from his contract with immediate effect and won't insist on any of his obligations, so he can fully concentrate on his upcoming tasks. We believe that with the skill- and mindset biGs brings to the table, he will be doing fine in the new challenges ahead of him. All the best to you, Han Sang!
Statement Han Sang 'biGs' Cho: 'First of all I'd like to thank mousesports for giving me the opportunity to join them, improve a lot, and participate in a lot of events. I spent a great year in a family of awesome teammates and I had a lot of fun. Due to personal issues I'll not be able to invest as much time into sc2 as I did before. I will probably continue to play a bit for enjoyment, but much less than before. I think it's time for me to choose another path than gaming. Best of luck to mousesports in the future. mouz hwaiting!!!'

Wow, didn't expect that.
looking grim for mouz, losing more and more players
understandable, living expenses in switzerland are very high, its probably hard to life off sc2 there. also not everyone wants to move to another country to pursue gaming.
Here's hoping Genius joins the ranks.
T___T Nooo swissss
Best of luck Bigs ): We'll miss you.

There is a couple strong players who are free agents. Notably Violet. Alternatively Mouz can join forces with a smaller name team that has good players.
That means mouz can't field a 5 man roster for team-leagues anymore Sad to see but was only a matter of time. Best of luck to biGs.
Judging from his appearance he definitely needs a bit more rl.
Good luck to biGs in the future and a big loss for mousesports.

Best of luck to biGs and mouz, both big and respectable names on the scene.

Mouz lost Morrow and Thorzain not to long ago, and now this. I don't want Mouz to disappear...
GL biGs and Mouz in the future

Wow.. mouz losing more players How many are there left? Like 5 now?
Best of luck to biGs in the future!
Replacement from Mouz incoming? They're looking a bit shaky...

Yeah and with bigs, morrow and thorzain gone they should be able to pay quite a bit for 1 or 2 top players.
oh man that's sad
well at least now I can be excited about a replacement for him and a new player for mouz
SlayerS+Mouz ala LgN/Zenex plz :D
Best of luck to biGs, shame to see him go. He always seemed to criminally underrated, sure he wasn't the best, but I think he was a good zerg and was slowly becoming a staple for mouz in team leagues.
Now that he's gone, I wonder who mouz will get for that 5th slot. Will they get another Zerg, or go for a Terran?

Awwww..Bigs was a very good zerg player, best of luck to him.

Bye and gl biGs! Can't never blame players leaving for pursuing their studies.
If I remember correctly, HasuObs said in the last Szenecast that mousesports is seeking to fill the gap that Thorzain left. He explicitly said that Koreans would be included in this search. I think he _JOKINGLY_ said something like "You know, that B-teamer (MMA) in SlayerS looks nice" (a lot of light jokes in Szenecast typically, so don't take it too serious).
mouz is just fine their dota 2 team is doing ok. they have a lot of suport and are probably the most popular european team right now.
I really think mouz should focus on mobas or maybe get a few new players to their sc2 lineup.
also, bigs was a pretty good player, sad to see him leaving
Feeling bad for mouz and biGs. He was a great asset to the team back when mouz was a beast in team leagues. Kind of an unsung hero. Not many people knew all that much about him but I remember him winning pivotal games for them, turning the tide, etc.
Good to hear he's finding a more stable life, sad to hear he has to leave esports.
mouz
Sad to see Mouz losing players like this, especially skilled ones like BiGs. Best of luck to him in his studies.
Maybe BiGs leaving is the spot for Genius to take over?
best of luck to bigs in the future! hope he returns
Sad news, he was one of the most impressive player to watch play. Good continuation biGs.
Mouz needs some new players for sure.
GL to bigs.
makesme sad, I really like the guy good luck in your endeavour and I hope you'll somehow remain around esport in a way or another
noooo bigs :[, u had so much talent
subpar player, sad to see him leave the scene he had some potential
They don't even have enough player to do teamleague anymore. :/
GL to Bigs in whatever he will do.
So sad to see him quit. He is a very talented player and is always really nice. GL to biGs with what he does now! =)

Well its more dependent on their financial structure. You could also look at it from a different perspective. If they have a decent financial structure they can spend their money on a select few players who may cost more but are very good to rebuild a team around / generate revenue from.
Smart decision is smart. Best of luck.
Too bad for mouz though.
Awwww Bigs The only swiss pro :/ Best luck to him in the futur.
GL biGs! I hope mouz can find more players soon, their roster has taken huge hit after huge hit lately
mouz, get your shit together please! you need at least 2 new top level players.
they should get genius and violet
Huh, to bad. biGs always seemed like a really intelligent player whenever I watched/played him, so a loss for the community for sure. Best of luck.
Mouz needs to pick up some players ASAP. They should be able to afford 2 top tier players. Will be interesting to see if mouz stays non korean.

2-1 over coca 2-1 over happy 2-1 over Sjow 2-0 over Idra 2-0 over darkforce
He also won gamers assembly. He was a good player for mouz so its pretty stupid to say that he didnt deserve it.

Wow your comment is REALLY ignorant. If you didnt know, Bigs was a really really talented player, with tons of wins over other top players. Maybe be a little more informed next time before saying something that will piss alot of people off

It always sucks to see a pro throw in the towel but best of luck with your future endeavors.

ah it's a sad day for Switzerland.. We lost our StarCraft Roger Federer...
Good Luck in your studies BiGs and hope to see you back in the esports world again someday!
dang, and he wasn't doing that badly recently either..
Smart decision. Sadly only the very best players can make enough money out of playing starcraft that warrants the time those players spend on it and the sacrifices they have to make.

I am really sorry for you biGs. But first of all I have a huge respect for you for choosing else then gaming after being a good pro gamer as I would give everything( at least I feel like) to become a pro. And huge respect for mous for releasing him without any problem.
Gl for both parties and keep it up!

i wish him also good luck andits probably the best decision. Living expenses are just so high in our country you need at least 2000 Euro (2400 Swiss Francs) a Month to have a base to survive

Yea, I've always wondered how he was/will deal with this. Living off progaming in switzerland sounds HARD, unless you are a star and get payed big.

biGs best of luck in the future! Its a classy sentiment from mouz though, what a cool team!

Yea, I've always wondered how he was/will deal with this. Living off progaming in switzerland sounds HARD, unless you are a star and get payed big. So true, it seems almost impossible to be honest. Living here pretty much forces you into doing something "solid" even moreso than in other countries. Best of luck to him!

His late game army control was so sick. sad, but you gotta do what you gotta do. best of luck! =)

Not sure you can even call that a team...
Makes me wonder if Mouz will ever get out of this tail spin they are in. It's only been getting worse, so far. Would be too bad to see a legendary team like them fall.
EDIT: Just wanted to say that Mouz has some great outlook for individual leagues with Protosser, Hasu, and MaNa (especially the latter two), but they have lost all depth to their team in the last few weeks.
good luck wherever you go and whatever you do

Mouz.Stephano would be a huge power play that comes out of left field.
Unfortunately, I don't think Stephano fits the Mouz model. They tend to go for solid mild-mannered players. Not big personalities.
And this is the dark side of e-sports, unfortunatly atm it's like trying to win the lottery for most pro's, some get the success/money but sadly most of them don't, not trying to sound like douche.
Anyways, gl with your irl stuff.
Poor Mouz. They used to be one of my favorite european teams, now their roster is looking pretty bare. I remember when their big five consisting of Thorzain, Morrow, Mana, Hasuobs, and Bigs tore through the IPL Team Arena, now less than half of those players remain on the team. Good luck to Bigs and what little is left of the Mouz team.
Good decision, businesswise. It frees up resources for other investments. Same takes effect for Morrow. I doubt it's a sign of monetary tightness. At worst a cuts plan.

I hope Mouz don't let his sc2 team slowly die because of their succes in other games like Dota.

poor switzerland

My favorite Swiss player is Roger Federer. Or Debbie

Mouz.mma? after his slayer contract is up?

Good luck with the studies to biGs then! It's sad when the time comes to land degrees and full time jobs and one just can't keep playing so much.

On July 23 2012 09:33 Noocta wrote:I hope Mouz don't let his sc2 team slowly die because of their succes in other games like Dota.
Highly unlikely. Mousesports has a history of focusing on multiple games with normally two primary titles: a team based game and a solo player game.
The team based game was for the longest time CS 1.6, while the solo player game was first WC3 and later SC2. The Dota 2 and LOL teams are rather filling the void of the dissolved CS team than replacing the SC 2 squad.
I expect Mouz to sign one or two new players to be able to play in team events, which they put special focus on. The question will be, if it will be a foreigner again. The top foreigner are mostly already on big teams and there was already a rumor of signing Genius. Only time will tell.
Nonethelless I wish Bigs good luck in his studies.
ah sad news as somebody who has followed closely the WC3 french scene it was good to see biGs on the rise, he was starting to be a fearsome player lately !
Best of luck to him in his studies. What field is he in ?

I thought he quit to become a D3 pro judging from what I've seen in Bnet. Too bad, really nice guy and strong player, really underappreciated by many.
one of these guys that never understood that his play in a vacuum is worth 0$ and that its thanks to the fans that he could make a few bucks, but he barely ever gave anything back to the comunity, with an autistic behaviour. Sadly when u have a shy personality and you make NO efforts at all, you're not gonna make a living out of progaming (and even stephano changed his ways because of that, so maybe im not that wrong right...) unless you're MVP good, which he wasnt. Studying is always the better choice anyways, so its smart of him, good luck with that but he is an intelligent person so he should succeed.

He wasn't one of the best, but he was the best of switzerland. He was able to show incredibly strong performances from time to time, sadlly he was not very consistant. It is sad to see the best player of switzerland quit.

Well, he owned me hard back when I was playing Warcraft 3 against him :-). Easily best Swiss RTS player.
I haven't seen many SC2 games from him, but when I saw some team league games half a year ago I thought this guy would start showing good results at major tournaments now. But I guess he never managed to become consistent with his performance.
As some pointed out, it's nearly impossible to make enough money to live from SC2 in Switzerland, I guess. You'd have to be an absolute top player and then it would be smarter to move somewhere with more team houses and less living costs.
So good luck with your studies, biGs!
