Questioning someone's claim that Naniwa is the best Protoss in the world (LOL) does not make him a hater.

I think MC holds that imo..but best player is subjective.

Both MC and Squirtle are definitely better than Naniwa, and Parting is a strong contender for 3rd.

I agree I would say Naniwa is in the top 5 though .

1.Creator
2.MC
3.Squirtle
4.Parting
5.Puzzle
6.Hero
7.Naniwa

+/- a place or two for everyone.

But I do consider him up there. Before I said top 5 or top 8ish but didn't bother to actually go through and list them, but those 7 are what I consider the top protoss with a large dropoff after that.

Seed I don't know about because he was never remarkable before this season.

Naniwa has always been "keeping it real" - as you put, even back in the WC3 days. He always spoke his mind and showed emotions (mostly rage) without hesitation.
However I do not remember him being disrespectful or overly arrogant. If he said something which might have been mistaken as disrespect, it was in the end just what he thought - without any intention to insult somebody.
When he said he would win something, he did so because he was confident and because by rather objective judgement from his perspective would predict so.

The way DRG was quoted in this interview do not only resemble confidence, but arrogance. That is how I feel. The unpleasant thing about this is that I perceived DRG to be a nice guy. Either the interview is a tad misleading or DRG has appearantly changed for the worse. May be too much succes gotten to his head? No idea.
But saying finals is no problem (This upsets me more than the Naniwa part tbh), is plain cocky.

The point is not that DRG behaves like this, but the fact that he seemed to be a nice, friendly guy - which totally contradicts the things said in this interview.

Some ppl at high level say things to get thier mind right. Inside they may not be confident but if you keep telling yourself nothing going to stand in my way it helps them. Least that's how I take it.

I think you're sort of hanging on his every word here and this kind of reaction is why things get blown out of proportion. People need to remember that the collective community puts far more thought and analysis into what players say than the players themselves. For every sentence a pro says entire pages are written by us. What is easily just a little quip for them is translated and taken out of context by a massive number of people.

Wait what? You don't think Naniwa acts arrogantly at all? He has shown disrespect to his opponents before as well like wtf lol.

Also I am pretty sure it's confidence, it's DRG facing a foreign toss naniwa who's weakest match ups is PvZ. DRG is the best zerg player in the world right now with symbol being a close 2nd. He has every right to be confident, but to see what you just said O_O.

Okay, then I will be a bit more precise. If you are arrogant, it imo also involves looking down at others and believing in your own superiority. I really believe that whenever one perceives Naniwa as acting arrogantly, it is rather a lack of mannerism and self-control, than real arrogance or disrespect. If he says something along these lines, it seems (at least to me) that he does so out of emotions or because he objectively thinks so. When he says "I will win" or "I should win the tournament" it is probably because he considers himself to be in a good shape and his opponents skillwise inferior. But I do not believe that involves arrogance or disrespect.

When a once humble and nice DRG says something like "Finals should'nt be a problem" when playing in the hardest and most prestigeous SC2 tournament, it is imo no objective assessment of the situation. Sure DRG has a pretty good shot at winning the whole thing, but players have time to prepare and we have seen how PvT god Parting fell to MVP when had already claimed victory before the series had even started.
"I have good chances to make it to the finals" VS "Finals are easy peasy, np." See the difference?

No matter how strong DRG is, Nani showed that he can prepare and put up a fight against anybody in the world.

You have a point there. Might also be a translation issue. Also, we can't say anything about intonation and HOW he said things, That is why I used expressions like "Either the interview is a tad misleading" or "was quoted". Actually I did not post this to launch a personal assault on DRG, but rather to defend Naniwa in some sense.
But overall: You have a point.

"I can do whatever I want and still win. That’s all I have to say. "

Maybe its translation, maybe there is something we dont know about with him and Naniwa. Either way (coming from a fanboy) i think its a badass thing to say.

I think it would be sick if Nestea helped Nani train for the DRG match so that they could meet in the finals but sadly I don't think it's going to happen...

When Creator plays well its amazing, I don't know. I don't get quite the same feel from Parting or Squirtle. MC is different completely though, but he hasn't come close to a final in a long time. I'm more concerned about who is considered a top protoss than the ranks within that group. Right now my favorite is Creator, but I'd rather not debate to heavily about a list I made in 3 or 4 minutes and put 0% of my heart and soul into.

Questioning someone's claim that Naniwa is the best Protoss in the world (LOL) does not make him a hater.

I think MC holds that imo..but best player is subjective.

Both MC and Squirtle are definitely better than Naniwa, and Parting is a strong contender for 3rd.

I agree I would say Naniwa is in the top 5 though .

how generic: who is 4th then?

I would say right now
1.Creator
2.MC
3.Squirtle
4.Parting
5.Puzzle
6.Hero
7.Naniwa

+/- a place or two for everyone.

But I do consider him up there. Before I said top 5 or top 8ish but didn't bother to actually go through and list them, but those 7 are what I consider the top protoss with a large dropoff after that.

Seed I don't know about because he was never remarkable before this season.

How on Earth do you justify having Creator above MC, Squirtle and Parting?

Probably because Naniwa said he's the best Protoss :p.

Naniwa here is what you need to do. Practice 100 games with stephano. Get Sase to teach you how to 2 base immortal all in. Profit.

Wow I am completely outraged how little respect DRG has for other players. Really, DRG? Care to show a little more professionalism here? Wasn't it just last season that you were knocked out by some 14 year old and an old-timer Terran? I hope he gets crushed so he can realize just how arrogant and disgusting he really is.

lol drg just making and honest assesment. Nani is bad vs zerg. DRG is really good. Isnt keeping it real what we like about nani?

Calling Nestea trash and acting like a douche after defeating him isn't arrogant?
Claiming your double Ro8 is more impressive than a previous foreigner because "It was easy back then, and he sucks now" isn't arrogant?
Probe rushing a "rival" (who you called trash) because you don't deem the match worthy isn't arrogant?

I could go on, but I think I've made my point... DRG is confident because he deserves to be confident. This is NaNi's worst matchup and arguably DRGs best. DRG is a champion and NaNi's only accomplishment recently is Ro8 in GSL.

If anything, the comment was a dig at NaNi for always being so arrogant towards other Koreans.

Like I said, Seed wasn't anybody before this season. Everyone else on the list has had a strong presence for at least 2 seasons. And I only care about GSL/GSTL achievements so I don't care to rank SaSe.
Life is too short to take it seriously.

If nestea crushed this push, i'm pretty sure DRG will do the same.
