There's a reason barely any pros post regularly on any forums. It's because there's a huge concentration of idiots who think they know what they're talking about but actually don't. There's tonnes of baseless flame for under-performing pros, high standards, accusations of lack of practice, disagreements about balance, and so on. Naniwa is damn right to think that this community isn't worth him worrying over. If I were a pro gamer (and maybe someday I'll be :D) I would post only in match threads or perhaps balance threads. Any other association is just asking to get flamed, disrespected, or anything else. Naniwa has endured a HUGE amount of hate from this community (and this is coming from someone who doesn't even particularly like his play) for all sorts of extremely overblown reasons. He can think whatever the fuck he likes, and shame on you for thinking Quantic should be doing something about this. Grow up.
I'm not saying he should post at all if he doesn't like. I think you misunderstand. I'm not concerned with his lack of posting; rather the things he says when he issues a statement be it here, twitter, video interviews, or wherever. Simply not saying anything at all would be fine with me... actively antagonizing the people that insert money into the business is my issue. He surely can think anything he wants; anyone can. There are, however, consequences for speaking one's mind. You can think all the racist thoughts you want...when you give voice to them, you pay for it. He can hate on the fans all he wants...his giving voice to it makes me no longer want to watch him play. Cause and effect is real.
Further, I don't think Quantic needs to do anything at all. I'm one person; I can go to hell. That doesn't mean I'm not entitled to give feedback. Feedback like you gave me. Growing up, accomplished!

I love the show but I don't really want a "State of the Drama" type thing where players ask to go on the show just to respond to comments someone else made. The show is great as it is and I'd like to see it used as an opportunity to do a good interview with someone who isn't known for their personality, like maybe Ret, DeMuslim, or Thorzain.

I'd love to see WhiteRa on the show at some point :p

I really like JP and a lot of the stuff that he has done, but recently JP it feels like your endeavors are more concerned with the drama surrounding eSports rather than the sport itself....I dunno, I just get TMZ-esque vibes from it, and a lot of State of the Game and Real Talk are so concerned with public perception and other issues that it feels removed from the game and is only adding fuel to a lot of the drama fire that goes on.
Just some respectful criticism...I really do think you have talent for eSports journalism and I can't imagine where SC2 would be without you in the community sir.

I think if you guys really want Naniwa on the show, you guys should just tell him.
He is the one who ask JP to interview him live beforehand, right? It means he is fine showing his personality to the public. The only reason he changed his mind is that he thinks he should not care about how the public view him. If enough guys tell him that we care about him and want to know more about him, he may have a different view at the public (more fans , less haters) ..... Though we might not change his decision afterall, at least its worth a try, just tell him through twitter / facebook etc ~ ~
To the people who plan to mail the team, please emphasize that you are not complaining becuase Naniwa refuse to be on the show, but his choice of words & personality or whatever it is. Just to prevent any unecessary misconeption =.=

That "in front of people I don't care about" crap is really getting to me. I like the guy. I like his play. But liking him in any way is getting to be irritating when he constantly looks down his nose upon the people that are the reason he gets paid to play. He could simply say "I'll not be attending" but he has to get that jab in at the fans. I think I'm done with Naniwa. I think Quantic will get a letter as to why. i hate the phrase but emailing teams and saying why you don't like a player really hurts esports >_> Show nested quote +On June 07 2012 08:13 howLiN wrote:On June 07 2012 07:45 Prophanity wrote: I think I'm done with Naniwa. Emailing teams has been stated by people much more knowledgeable than us as the go-to for stating our discontent with something specific to the team (i.e. players). Even so, people shouldn't feel that they run the industry all by themselves and that they control major actions in teams just by voicing their opinion. That's too much power concentrated on a community that has shown multiple times that can be petty and irrational.

Oh and by the way, DO TASTELESSSSSSSSS NEXT!!!!!!!!

I find it funny that after calling out Idra as someone who doesn't follow through, Naniwa goes and pulls some of the same shit.
Pretty hypocritical if you ask me, and pompous sounding too. Too bad, would have made a great episode.

It would have been terrible. He would have given one word answers and no comments on everything except Idra. We all know why he wanted to do the show.

Love the show JP, keep it up

show is pretty awesome, really liked the 2gd one. Really good way to get to know these personalities. May i suggest Sir Scoots for a future episode? Hes been in the scene for a long time, could be pretty amazing to hear about all his experiences over the years.
btw: im kinda glad you didnt get naniwa, it would probably cause another shit storm, and i dont think thats what we need right now.

I'd prefer to have future episode's with good players and not just "personalities".

I'm paraphrasing JP, but he said on SotG that this isn't a platform for drama. It's going to be centered around everything relevant to SC2 gamer's life (Childhood, practice, friends, etc) and of course some of the drama is going to get mentioned. Edit: Oh, I guess Nani backed out? too bad.

I think things like what idra said about naniwa don't belong into such a show.. its like talking about someone behind his back.

This is a great show JP, watched them all !
Team owners like FXOBoss, EGAlex and Nazgul would be cool
|
interview with Mondragon would be cool :D

Ret should be kinda interesting. He is one of those quiet guys we don't hear much from, but who obviously has some stories to tell.

It absolutely talking about someone behind their back ... but I love it.
Finally, people saying what they actually think and not giving the politically correct, diplomatic answer all the time.

JP thank you so much for this awesome show ... I have watched them all and they have all been great . ... you are doing such great things for the community !!!!
