How does it work? How does it determine your skillevel? It could be possible to get only noobs then? Do you get any portraits? I don't see a difference between joining a random custom game and this if it doesn't give you any portraits tbh.

People buying subpar products over and over again degraded into passive - milking cow position. You get candy, instantly forget about bad history and scream "Take my money !" Until consumers like this are extinct companies will be cutting content out of game and providing subpar products .. enjoy it, u are the one causing it how has it been disappointing? they've patched the game a'lot and are aware and putting in fixes to all of the concerns. (cept lan but, the continue from replay kinda solves that aye?) I really don't know what kind of product you're looking for if blizzard isn't delivering.. they're the ones who set the bar.. so i imagine you're just being unrealistic?

Diablo 3 will have global play implemented on its launch ffs and shared replay viewing has been seen since Windows 98. That's probably the case. Their coders must have had some features for quite some time, or at least a very clear idea of what they need to do to implement it. Unfortunately this is not how the business works and the calls to release something or not comes from someone else and not the coders themselves. All in all it is good news and I'm glad for everyone that we finally get most of the feature this series deserves. And I mean this sincerely. Starcraft2 should have the best system and Blizzard should work hard to make this reality, so far, for the last 2 years BattleNet was lackluster and sometimes I wish we had some interviewers who won't let shit like "we're working on it" slide...

I knew a big addon maker in WoW, which was quite offended with how Blizzard just ripped him off with not so much as a how-do-you-do. That being said, I'm sure they have some part of the ToS saying they can steal any code that a player has made on/through bnet.

I mean what's the purpose? Does it use your "official" MMR? If yes, than what you get is the exact experience of ladder, only if you win you don't get any credit. Yippee. On the other hand, if it has a separate MMR, than it would serve mainly as the place where people try to move away from their "official" MMR as possible to have easier time on ladder, which in effect will mess with people who use the actual ladder to get matched with, well, equally skilled opponents. So no, I just don't see the point. Racial ladders, that would be kinda awesome, but unranked matchmaking seems like an unecessary stepstone to actual ladder. That, and a terrain for abusing the actual ladder.

Believe it or not, as much as we all tell people to not give a shit about their rank/league, people still do. This gives them the option to play ladder without those worries. I mentioned earlier in the thread and posted in the bnet forums (ha!) that I would like to see the unranked system have additional filters that allow you to choose a match-up and map to practice on. You can try out builds, work on weak match-ups, or play on maps that you don't hit that frequently on ladder. It's only a positive thing, it doesn't detract away from the ranked ladder we have now. And yes, it does use your MMR but won't affect it in anyway.

All jokes aside, great news, really MOTHER FUCKING happy that these fixes are -announced and confirmed-. No lan, but hey, they found the next best thing which serves a lot more purposes, so kind of a trade off... for now anyway I hope. A lot to look forward to, but I wonder if these fixes will be for Battle.net in general (SC2+HoTS), or are enabled with HoTS, global play especially. Look forward to those details as well, lets hope its news just as good as this.

How has it been disappointing? Well.... Lack of LAN...as you mentioned. AKA near instantaneous control Game doesn't automatically put you in a chat room (spontaneous friendships) Lack of racial diversity at fundamental tier 1 level (stalker/marauder/roach) Lack of viable mech Too many high supply units Lack of incentive for Terran to do anything much more than bio and medivacs Lack of incentive to get tier 3 units (besides brood lords) Lack of infinite micro potential in units (just about the marine, in BW there were a handful of units like this) Claustrophobic maps to hide balance issues Stubborn insistence on maintaining arbitrarily consistent resources across maps when they can be adjusted to help balance Lack of correct unit spacing to make battles and armies feel large Lack of high ground mechanic to make terrain more meaningful Insistence on having huge portions of the middle of maps visible so their is rarely any jostling/trickery/risks taken Macro mechanics that accelerate the game so fast that less strategic options are available Lack of units with 1 hit kill attacks Lack of very fast units with high micro potential. I'll stop before I get carried away. sorry. =)

Indeed especially as after telling people not to worry about ladder rank, they then get judged and dismissed based upon it, those brave little men on the internets. I'm damn sure there'd be at least another 10% on the player base retention if unranked was an option.
