Man, I can see you have only had this account on TL for just over a year now but by the amount of posts you have, you are obviously on here a lot. Teamliquid is actually a European based team, so this concept that they should be focusing on NA talent doesn't make any sense. In some respects I would actually just consider Teamliquid an international team and wouldn't even bother to label them in a certain area just due to their connection all over the globe.
Looking back, they have given NA players a chance, have you forgotten Huk? Sheth? Tyler (Was already on the team since SC1, I won't even count this). Don't slam this team because they objectively look at the talent that is in the free agent market and consider what is in the best interests for them as a team and a business. Are you trying to say Nazgul doesn't understand how to run a team or a business because I am sure they're doing just fine and this addition will only further the Teamliquid brand into an even better team! But honestly, please, since your insight is so great can you please enlighten us with some "homegrown" NA talent that the community is missing out on, that is currently in the free agent market?

What have Beasty or Happy done? What have Bigs or Heromarine done? Why should a huge and popular team like TL sign players with no results in this day and age? I would say being a player on Team Liquid is one of the biggest honors in the sc2 world. They signed Taeja because he is a skilled, young player full of limitless potential, that will bring great results for the team in individual and team leagues alike, it just makes sense. You can dislike it all you want but this move is amazing for TL as a team, they needed another Terran player and they got one of the best. Why would playing for Liquid be a bigger honor than playing for any other team? I have no problems with them signing a korean as it's starting to become clear that foreign talent is really rare and spending lots of money trying to breed american/euro talent most often isn't worth it. Liquid is one of the most if not the most popular team there is, you will gain lots of fans which increases your net worth if you ever decide to leave the team ( see: huk ) I'd say the biggest thing is the popularity of the team is through the roof. It's not completely explainable in simple ways, but the fans put a lot of worth into being a TL player.
There's a huge difference between honor and being popular or gaining monetary worth by recognition though. There's also the fact that TL gains as much from players like Hero and Taeja as the players do, it has little to do with honor. It's a business deal.

I should have worded that better, because I agree. What part of Liquid is mercenary? They've kept every one of their members, regardless of results. What other team does that?

Since the interview with the trolls (HotBid & HayprO) I figured that it was either a terran (and probably TaeJa then) or just troll time. Now with the facts in front of me I am very happy to see TeaJa joining the team. Liquid has been short on terran players since TLO switched (go go zerg!) and this is a great opportunity to fantastic practice for everyone.
Also looking forward to seeing him in future international events.
