Hah! I actually didn't expect the Hayder interview to be truly revealing. Now in retrospect - maybe that's why the interview got so promoted by TL. Clever, clever stuff, you got me there.

Now Taeja, gl gl - he once made the Korean Weeklies - Taeja Weeklies; now it's time to make the Global League - Taeja League.

So did the foreigner scene turn into a competiton of "how many koreans" they have in their team now?

yeah mouz is the only top team without a korean that is left pretty much (we still have dignitas but dream is chinese as far as i know so that kind does count doesn't it? and then we have rox who are really good but mostly competing on the 'EU server so they don't get that much attention)

Select?
Great new either way. Looking forward to see some great games =)

Poor Jinro, it feels like people have forgotten about him. I think having another Terran on the team will really help him get back to his old form though.

TLO was probably a helpful with strats and BOs since he played Terran for awhile, but he has since switched back to Zerg. TaeJa will bring Jinro back to Code S!

WoW great news.

Imagine if the 9 would train all together in one house - sky is the limit!! so much potential.

Nice to see a new terran in the team maybe he can help to improve jinros play.

Really really nice pickup. The team's one main weakness was its lack of Terran players, and with this acquisition not only do they get to bolster their Terran line-up even if for a bit, but they also get a high level Terran who is a consistent Code S player, and someone who arguably hasn't reached his true potential but is already displaying a very high skill level. Also, they have someone to help Jinro out now. Awesome.

Why should a huge and popular team like TL sign players with no results in this day and age? I would say being a player on Team Liquid is one of the biggest honors in the sc2 world.

They signed Taeja because he is a skilled, young player full of limitless potential, that will bring great results for the team in individual and team leagues alike, it just makes sense.

You can dislike it all you want but this move is amazing for TL as a team, they needed another Terran player and they got one of the best.

I completely agree with this point. These teams aren't in it to acquire homegrown talent and develop them with the hopes that they'll achieve and bring results for the team. Why would a big name like Team Liquid go out and sign people who have no prior achievements and will likely never have real big time results when they can get better in every aspect by obtaining a real talent.

They got the best free agent Terran player who will now have a chance to shine in foreign competitions and contribute to Liquid on a team setting. As far as I can tell, this is a smart investment of Liquid's money.

so sad that liquid is actually so dependant on the koreans that if hero doesn't play they lose in clanleagues so what they do? yeah buy another korean mercenary that doesn't even care about the team he is on in the slightest but gets more money and can go on a rampage in foreign tournaments....
*applause*

this is so retarded

What do you expect them to do, let all the other teams get good players and not expand their roster?

look this is exactly why NA doesn't produce any good players
it's just because liquid and EG are so stupid and ratch buy koreans than invest into any talent whatsoever... even those teams started to believe that NA is naturally untalented - just stupid

and then look at mouz/empire who are both doing great with only having 1 korean between both of them and that korean has been living in america for a long time and didn't come to them from the korean server so he was basically a "foreign talent" eventhough he wasn't a foreigner

empire picked up beasty and happy from ladder / online trouneys and welmu too (eventhough he left again but well...)
then they have aristeo who is also a local talent

mouz too
they could have picked up a korean and go for some easy wins like liquid and EG but they decided to pick up biGs and heromarine - 2 EU talents
and it is working out for them (beating both liquid and EG multiple times)

TL is not an " american " team, they are based in the EU because that's where the majority of their old core lives and also where Nazgul lives, but now I would argue they are an international team having 2 players from NA, 4 from EU, 3 from Korea.

What have Beasty or Happy done?

Why would playing for Liquid be a bigger honor than playing for any other team, especially since he's been in SlayerS before?

I have no problems with them signing a korean as it's starting to become clear that foreign talent is really rare and spending lots of money trying to breed american/euro talent most often isn't worth it.

Liquid is one of the most if not the most popular team there is, you will gain lots of fans which increases your net worth if you ever decide to leave the team ( see: huk )

I'd say the biggest thing is the popularity of the team is through the roof.

It's not completely explainable in simple ways, but the fans put a lot of worth into being a TL player.
