I'd love to play in it it sounds awesome, but I work on fridays starting at 5pm PST

Don't let that deter you! As I just updated in the post above (sorry for not being clear the first time ) the players have the option to play their games at any time during the week that works for both them and their opponent. We'll be doing the broadcasts with replays.

Woohoo, an FRB tournament! <3 Good call.

That's one of the issues that we were discussing while casting/watching yesterday. The action does begin later, which makes sense because everything is slowed down a bit.
This is partly due to the metagame not being adjusted yet, and the fact that income is lower.
I hope once we learn 6m a bit better, action will pickup at the start.

alright awesome, I wish you could get pro's to play in the FRB tourney, gives this lots of the needed publicity

Thats awesome, glad to see a tourney coming out. I know there are some good masters players in our channel and can't wait to see some epic games.

There needs to be a featured FRB stream up in the list one of these days.

This can't loose spotlight. We have to keep this concept hot.

Amazing, one man stepped over the boundary from thought to action. Fixing the 12 year-in-the-making debacle that is Starcraft 2. I commend you on your passion, Barrin. Exactly why I love this community.
Blizzard, who cares more for this game? You...or us?

OK, First a question or two, then a shameless self-promotion!
I was playing from the 7m channel yesterday and I had a lot of people say they would really like to play a team map for 6m.
If I were to make a custom team map for 6m, Q: How many bases should a 6m 4v4 map have? I was thinking in the range of 32 - 44 bases ( 4 - 5&1/2 per player) Q: Are there any plans to include an "official" team map pool for 6m, now or in the distant future? Q. I have an idea for the layout, but are there any special considerations one might think of for 6m team games?
Self-promotion; Check out my 6m map "Redstone Fortress" on NA. I think it plays out a lot better than the retro-fitted 8m maps from the ladder pool, but of course I'm biased :D
|
For those who haven't tried 6m give it a shot. It leads to really fun macro games. The last game I played was one of the funnest in recent memory where my opponent and myself topped our supply out at 140, and played the majority of the game between 50 to 70 food, while having to battle over 6 bases. Here's the replay if you want to watch 2 diamond players PvT http://drop.sc/143400
@Fish, I agree. Not sure why your map and arrival are not receiving any love from Barrin.

I've played your map a lot already.
It's fun! :D Great map I must say!

Thanks for the love guys,
Also, I agree - imo Arrival is one of the maps that "gets it" in regards to proportionality and how 6m affects the sizing of the map, chokes, and expansion layouts. (take everything you know about 3rd bases and throw it out the window!) Notice how in Redstone I chose to make the main about 25% smaller than normal - thats all on purpose. Not to mention that Arrival has the coolest expansion blocking mechanic ever.

posting to say how much i enjoy these new maps and style of gameplay. :D
I am merely a high plat zerg player (will be diamond next season, we all know how the ladder ranking is kinda screwy) but find these games so much more exciting that standard ladder. I am usually on the 7m channel under the name ultimifier. my TL account was a typo so my name doesn't match unfortunately. If anyone ranging from gold to diamond (or even masters) would like to play some games and try different strategies shoot me a PM @ ultimifier 171.
bragging aside I have beaten 2 masters players on devolution (1 was off race however), on foreveralone's stream as well (see page 75 one of my games was casted) and these new maps seem to fit my playstyle really well.
to conclude THANK YOU BARRIN as this is a great idea and even if it doesn't get implemented, it will definately gain traction from all the fun games that are resulting from your great idea.
