The idea here is that you do not want to have a death ball army. If you do, you will not be able to hold that many expansions. Another idea that I have been thinking of for a while is using Force Fields to influence players to get massive units, just to spice up gameplay a bit.

Thoughts?
The general idea is great. I like it. I think I would have to play on it first before I throw out any opinions yet.
Also, have you textured the map yet? Because at the moment it looks ugly, I'm assuming it's not finished. xD
I honestly think the map making community needs more creative ideas like this and I think that 6m1hyg helps with that. I think it would be interesting if there was smaller units only zones so bigger units like siege tanks can't enter that zone etc... I like your thinking with the force fields!

Force fields look real cool this way. I hope they work out well too
I'm not finished, I just wanted to get the idea out there. I'll try to make it look pretty by tonight, but my texturing skills aren't that good, so don't expect anything amazing. I might even change the title set, who knows.
@Antares: Fully walling off places with FFs really messes with the AI. I'm not sure that's a great idea in a map, really.
I would like to request that we move discussion of specific maps somewhere else and leave this thread to the general idea. It would be good to have a "FRB map thread" where people can post their maps and they can all be found, and discussed to some extent (or linked to the map thread if there is one.)

In what way? Does the AI not recognize them for movement or something?
Hey everyone! A new update, this time an analysis of a game on Cross Point sent to me by the illustrious Ironman! For those who don't know, Ironman is on the ESV mapmaking team and the author of Ohana, a GSL map! Do I even need to tell you folks how cool it is that he's designing maps specifically for FRB games? The map is awesome, the game is awesome and the cast went really well, so definitely check it out!
A quick side note, I missed 2 small zergling runbys on this map (6 lings or less each time) and the most damage done was to force a nexus cancel that got rebuilt < 20 seconds later. I didn't think it was worth redoing the whole cast for so I left it as is and I'm just preempting the hawkeyed minimap watchers that might rag on me for missing it.

For those who are interested you can find even more shoutcasts and analyses of FRB games at my youtube channel, www.youtube.com/wiseoldsenex
Stay tuned for important news tomorrow, as something Pull, Barrin and myself have been working on is nearly ready for announcement. (An announcement of an announcement, announception!)
@GPThunder: Yes indeed. For those interested you can check out the replay yourself a page or two back in the thread, or it might have been added to the first page under the 'Replays' Section.
Some FRB casts on a whole bunch of maps. Not as awesome as Senex's casts, but they were super fun to watch, maybe they'll entertain you as much as they did me. Thanks to the guys in 7m. We'll be doing more tonight.
I think they both look great, with a vague preference for the desert version just because of the current tilesets used on Ladder and in tournaments. For example, on ladder right now there's 1 asteroid, 1 cityscape, 1 purple-rocks thingy, 2 dark stone, and 3 forest/greenery. That makes the desert tileset stand out to me because it's less commonly used, but the new version looks great!
i still think 6 bases for 6m1hyg setup is to few expo's, u need at least 6+gold or 8 normal ones, but anyways would love to play retrograde if it is uploaded to the eu
