While I don't condone anyone calling other people a "negro" (or "faggot" for that matter), I do believe that Reddit blew these year-old events out of proportion and I'm sorry it all ended up this way for you, -orb-. That said... given the outcome that already happened, I hope you take away the right lessons from this, so that next time you'll be even better.

In my opinion the term faggot is much worse than nigger...I mean when you hear rappers and black people themselves calling each other nigger or nigga it can be hard to determine what is actually offensive. I don't condone either word being used, especially while being angry since it makes you seem more like you're actually trying to offend someone, I do hope your apology is sincere and hope you get back to normalcy as soon as possible. I think this was a wake up call for lots of people in the SC2 community and I hope to see less of this type of language used in BMing people on the ladder.

And after all, it's just a derriviation from the same "black" word, just in french or spanish, so it was really, really hard to coeprehend why it's offensive) so, I have a question.
Is it okay to call a white person by the n-word? If you're joking around. While speaking in english, of course.

depends on your company and location

Typically countries that did not treat black people as badly do not feel as badly about the word nigger.

In the USA however, it seems that context is irrelevant and intent is irrelevant, if you say nigger you are to be nailed to a cross and have your career ruined.

thats compeltely incorrect, when you use nigger out of anger as an insult in order to try and make the other person feel bad then you get in trouble

LOL. Fork rider you dont live in the U.S. do you? I do, and what he stated is correct. there is no way to use the word "nigger" and not be in trouble. You always lose your job or anything else. Additionally, black people can use "nigga" at free reign, while if a white guy does it, again, you're likely to lose everything, because you're either seen as racist or mocking black people.

There is no way to say "nigger" and not lose your job, unless you use it while describing it as a word someone else used, and even then most people who are reporting on it say "the n-word", because of the fear.

Social outrage will cause people to lose jobs over it, even if a person uses it in an explanatory case of what another person said, like the news. it's just not worth it.

On the other hand, people don't seem to understand that that much social pressure can get people fired and change the course of companies in the consumer world, so thats why they don't use it in sc2 to fix the game before hots, (like getting lan).

fork rider? first time i heard that one

as i said earlier its is generally frowned upon to say it in public but depending on where you are and who your with it can be pretty safe to say it jokingly (like among friends in a fairly private area) but using it out of anger is pretty much 100% of the time not a good idea

I really believe this apology was honest and sincere, and I feel very sorry about everything that has happened. Although I don't personally know you, I know you are likely going through some amount of pain over this whole ordeal, and this has taken a bit of a tole on the whole starcraft community. It is unfortunate that you will no longer be able to continue in Starcraft 2 as a part of EG, but it may have still been necessary for it to happen. I forgive you for your words that were spoken in anger, and I hope the rest of the community is able to do so as well.
This is difficult for me to say but I feel I must..the sixth sheik's sixth sheep's sick.

I kind of understand why orb acted this way.
Before he realized there is a potential career option for pro gaming, he just didn't care about other people and showed his "true" self through ladder and streams. But after you realize that there are many opportunities that lie in this esports scene, you realize these behaviors are unacceptable.

However, only through harsh consequences like this you truly regret and apologize for what you have done. I can feel the sincerity of this post, he honestly didn't see this kind of uproar incoming. Unfortunately, it was after too late. And that's what happened, I think.

EG probably did the right thing firing you (after all, very often it only takes one mistake to get into trouble at the workplace). However, you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. This was one incident, and it shouldn't wipe away all the amazing games you've casted in the past. So you have not failed as an entertainer. You made a mistake, got punished for it, and that should be that. You're still an amazing caster, and as long as you learn from your mistake, you'll do great in the future.

wtf?

Anyway, I always thought that they give -Orb- another chance, I like him and these should be regarded as making a silly mistake and letting him have one more chance. Also its a lesson that is learnt through mistakes.

Unless you're black.

We live in a society of double standards, its how America runs. Unfortunately, orb is not black, so he does not have free reign to say nigger whenever he wants to.

A genuine apology and it is appreciated. I think it will take some time before the community is really ready to forgive and forget, but this is a step in the right direction.

That's not a double standard. White people can say cracker and black people can say nigger and not be racist. It would be a double standard if white people could say both words and blacks could not, that would be a double standard.

Granted orb and other potential casters will probably never read this post, I'll say it anyway. Myself, and probably most of the community, are okay if people get angry and rage/BM their opponent but never resort to personal or racist remarks. If you insult someones playing, it can always be forgiven. We just don't need to degrade our community into prejudice.

Never seen a black person saying "the C word". They all call me cracker, whity, vanilla, and nigga in disguise(because Im 6ft4). And Im ok with it.

tbh we are 2012. It amuses me that the n-word problem still exists at this point in time.

You were never at fault, the community just went too far and took this too seriously. This is why the existence of /r/starcraft is pretty bad for sc2 as a whole, the lack of moderation on there has caused something like this to happen. Raging on the ladder isn't news, neither is using derogatory language. Reddit took this way too far in my opinion.

The problem wouldn't exist if people would stop giving the word power, too. The only way you're going to get people to stop saying it is by forcing them to do it, and I personally was under the impression that Fascism ended in 1945.
