Alex is verbose, and you owe it to yourself (and the rest of us) to read the statement in its entirety. Remember, when making comments/claims to provide proper evidence, facts etc. Arguments based on incorrect assumptions, facts and straw men, will be dealt with swiftly. I knew someone would post something like this. Hook, line and sinker!
Hey dude, it's not nice to post such obvious bait like that. Be the white man.
For those of you comparing Idra to Orb on BM on ladder
Orb = little to nobody knows who he is and doesnt bring as much to gain Idra = is widely known, hugely popular, brings more to the table than any other EG member just about
same reason is why people compare average mediocre players to incontrol.
average mediocre player = is average incontrol = is average AND a huge publicity
Both Idra and Control are publicity, EG will NOT let them go.

Got to say, though I doubt that orb was the biggest offender, I'm glad someone gets punished for throwing around the n word like its nothing on stream especially. And I know he is not really a racist, but people should take some responsibility for stuff like this. Though at the same time i do wonder how many people who posted negatively about orb watch destiny's stream?
Being offended by the word nigger only gives the word more power. If a word makes you feel inferior then you are actualizing its truth. The TL community is turning into a bunch of whiny witch hunting nancy boys. I don't care one bit if eSports becomes super popular or professional. I don't want it to be monetized into a corporate machine. I personally prefer the casual nature of how it stands now. Stop being little bitches and get thicker skin.

as for Orb. he got the big cy@
How about, they know where to draw the line.
Dont see where i crossed the line? gave my input on orb and idra. And doesnt take a genius to know incontrol is average and hes basically in the same boat as Idra on not getting kicked from EG.

And thank you for being yet another example of why this cleaning up of esports needs to happen from the top down. It's clearly not going to happen from the bottom up.

Not you, Orb. I am not from NA, so I dont know how it is there, but here you dont use those words. Maybe thats why I dont like destiny either, even though its an very smart and funny guy.

So while using your definition of common sense I should burn my house down to solve a termite problem? It's the most effective measure to ensure they are 100% destroyed. So let's burn Starcraft down! Come on.
Edit: The more I think about what you wrote, the more absurd it is.
Line at the airport? Pull the fire alarm! Going to miss your exam? Call in a bomb threat! Common sense fighting!
It all comes down to ROI. If they are getting pounded on sales and public opinion then it will be a really quick trigger. I hate to use this as an example, but take Howard Stern from his days on terrestrial radio. His sponsers/advertisers would come under enormous pressure, from every group imaginable. It wasnt for all of the companies but the ones that stayed must have gotten positive returns from the controversies.
At the same token you have to wonder if they go wow, that fan base actually cares enough to take the time and be vocal about a displeasure enough so that they know about our product.
Sponsors and teams talk more to work out any precieved issues, and who knows maybe a better end product comes about~

Yah, I'm pretty sure the Punk and Graff scenes started out with the same attitude.
They died. And all the talent moved on to better things.

It also bewilders me that you still have someone such as IdrA (yes, and I read the twitter, just let me elaborate.) He repeated his mistake multiple times, in much more professional environments - during tournaments, tournament matches - hell, he flicked off HuK at one of the MLGs, snap his own headset.. The guy literally has 5 minute compilations of his BM/raging out on Youtube - in professional games. Yet, he's still fine. Orb tosses the n-word around (believe me, I don't defend this - but there are still certain principles here that are being overlooked) in frustration in a few laddergames on Battle.net, and gets fired after a few days.
The logic is inconsistent here, and I don't really like this call by EG. But it seems like the community forced it on EG. Alex's position and analysis of the situation is very well written and spot-on, and also informed, but again, inconsistent. Where was the publicity when IdrA called people "faggots"? The community liked it coming from IdrA (The main argument at the time was that the sport "needed a bad boy"), and never reacted like it did when Orb says something equivalently bad. Why does IdrA get the second, third, and fourth choices, when Orb just kind of gets the boot? I would hope that it's not because IdrA is simply more important, but I can't seem to see the logic for the inconsistencies.
So, in conclusion, I don't like EG's call here. I disagree with it, and feel the community over-reacted and forced themselves onto the situation.
EG was forced into responding, yes. How heavily was EG's discretion.
If you feel that there is an inconsistency, you can set it right by making complaints of Idra's behaviour. Instead, you are using it as a reason to disagree with EG's call on Orb tossing the n-word around. So how exactly are you not defending this?
I'd like to ask how DuckS IS defending what Orb said?
DuckS seems to believe that the community itself used unethical methods to undermine the authority of EG.Alex, forcing him to OVERREACT to something which could have been handled a number of different ways. I actually agree with this.
I also disagree with people dropping n-bombs on the ladder, people digging up shit about someone from the past and using it to screw them over, selective culling of a single employee justified by conduct for which multiple employees can find themselves terminated... the list goes on.
Prior to this statement, I was impartial to EG. I was neither a fanboy nor a hater. I work in advertising, with big clients, and I understand the difficulties of politics and public relations in a situation such as this, regardless of fault or context.
I am very happy that you took such a strong posture against Orb's actions and, just as importantly, did your research prior to making your statement. I'm happy that the community was outraged, and I'm happy with your response. You've made a supporter out of me.

Rich whites are basically trying to create an inferiority complex in the the minds of blacks to have them as lower class citizens for years to come, this is why they want blacks to be offended by a word which is used to describe them. There is no word that offends whites, why, because it is basically getting drilled into peoples minds that whites are superior and that no words will offend whites as there is no truth behind racial slurs towards whites to make it offensive. To truly conquer people you must control their minds. The whites that have made laws against saying words like nigger are basically the real racists, although they are clever in the ways they conduct themselves. Social engineering at work.
I have made this type of a joke about french people when I got a temp ban...
Err... perhaps I should have clarified: I'm a proud and patriotic American (although I recognize that there are negative stereotypes about us). There were also recent conversations on TL (different thread) about how Americans actually pretend to not be Americans when they travel (e.g. they pretend to be Canadian) so that they're treated better.
Sorry for any confusion ^^
I understand that what you said was a joke (I said it was a joke), what I don't understand is why you didn't get banned for this joke.
When I made a similar type of joke about the french people, I was banned. I just want some consistency from moderators. If this type for joke is unacceptable then it shouldn't matter if you are making fun of your own nation, it is the type of joke that is unacceptable, regardless of who says it.

He was using inconsistency on EG's part as a defense to disagree with EG's call on Orb. That's about as clear as I can get, Sorry if it doesn't suffice.
EG.Alex' authority is a concern for those serving under him - like his employees, not the community. Dug up or not, our past always haunts us. Frankly, Orb could have handled it better. His attempts at denial were, bluntly put, lies.
EG made their decision. The community influenced it, but no one held a gun to Alex's head.
