we don't need to make a big deal out of it...
OMG DUDE IS A BADASS GANGSTA!!!!
who gives a crap? JP and other casters are far more opinionated than this fool. Except Katu has explicitly slandered a player, and he has no built up credibility in the community already. On the other hand, take Artosis- who talks about how godly Nestea is all the time- and while the jokes may be old, it's not like he lies or is some random nobody who just shits on players for no reason. Artosis has an established reputation as a player and an analyst and a caster and a professional, so jokes are acceptable. Who the hell is Katu? Some nobody.
Sure he isn't someone who has a long standing career in the SC2 eSports community that has thrust him onto a world stage but lets try to be reasonable here. He said something stupid but isn't the fact that he isn't an Artosis or a TotalBiscuit on the world stage exactly why we shouldn't care so much? He's a good caster and does his job well but he made some stupid comments in the span of a minute of his whole casting career and people are suddenly wanting to roast the guy on a spit?
This community pulls out pitchforks way too fast. If Artosis said something like this the outrage would make more sense because he's such a public figure but Katu on playhem saying one stupid thing IMO doesn't deserve this kind of ridiculous community reaction. Its been 7 hours according to Reddit when this stupid drama started. The dude probably went to bed and just woke up to this so lets give it some time and let him respond with an apology or something. There's no reason to go batshit crazy over what is actually not that big a deal.
Was it wrong and unprofessional? Yup. Have other people gotten away with arguably worse? Sure. Have other people been flamed for less? You bet your ass. Is Katu such a big deal that people need to worry this much over what he says? I guess so. If anything this shows that Playhem and its casters are being held to a high regard. Thats a good thing but this pitchforking is a bad thing.

Its not right for a caster to badmouth anyone when live on stream. He should definitely apologise for his unprofessional attitude and comments.
Plenty of other people out there are trying to break into casting. Get rid of Katu and try someone else.
|
I've never really liked Katu's attitude, he always seemed a little rude or brash. Guess thats why I don't watch the main cast and would rather watch a player I like play through the tourny.

I don't see anything wrong with what the caster said? Dragon is a known cheater and should quit playing starcraft 2, or start smurfing and not tell anyone his alternate account.
|
Man I don't know why everybody he so worked up?
Have any of you actually ever see any sport games? I see offensive comments everyday in all sports.. Is it right? No.. Should he be banned and expelled into another galaxy? of course not..
Dragon can have a free travel to IPL4 and playhem/casters allready apologized.
Just let it go..

People just dont know about Dragons history. TT1, Haypro or Dimaga(Prolly the biggest fan favorite) are names you should compare dragon with rather then combat rofl. No, they're not. They all were actually punished (and Haypro actually never cheated - he used a hack to check things to make builds, etc.) and only cheated in the equivalent to ladder qualifiers - Dragon cheated in those qualifiers and then (most likely) in the first round of the tournament.
Instead of getting punished, he got kicked out of a team that disbanded a month later, then (eventually) qualified for a GSL. After getting eliminated, he apologized to people for breaking his promise, while continuing to attempt a pro starcraft career, including joining Slayers and trying to live at the house for a period.
In comparison, TT1/Haypro/Dimaga were all banned from touraments and have been squeeky clean ever since. They aren't even in the same league.

TT1 is the only legit example there. He admitted it and everyone knows.
DIMAGA didn't stream cheat or hack, he was abusing the ladder to get into the top 16 of the TSL2 qualifier.
HayprO was one of several players who had left Oblivion on. He isn't the only case. And he was let back into his team later, so obviously they trusted him.

oki playham should really pull the plug on that caster., the other guy i am fine with but accusing ppl of cheating with no real proof is ridiculess and pretty damn bad mannered.
|
What a giant turd. Seriously. And I'm not even a Dragon fan.
You don't accuse a player for cheating publicly with nothing substantial to back it up what so ever, and you'd better make damn sure you even got the basic stuff right when lashing out at someone like that. This guy obviously had no clue about Dragon other than that he admitted stream cheating at some point.

stream cheating is hardly 'cheating'.
if the event is being streamed live, you can assume that pretty much anyone who has a build order win is stream cheating.
i'm not saying it was right, but i'm saying that for an event to be serious you have to delay the stream by sufficient time to prevent stream cheating.
stream cheating is merely exploiting a bad tournament format.

What the hell is Katu even saying? I don't think this guy should be such a raging asshole on stream.
|
Can't stop laughing... lol who cares about some chitchat talk? Just another too serious Dragon fanboy crying how his most favorite player is beign accused...
C'mon seriously? This happens all the time, when casters have to talk about something they just talk about something... Who cares. They do it to keep people intersted and not having those silent moment...

He isn't a known cheater, that implies that he is currently cheating and has never stopped cheating. In reality he did stream cheat a while ago but accusing him of still stream cheating when his own stream has more viewers than the casted stream is ludicrous.

That's awesome and very well-handled.
And yeah, Katu needs to apologize. Hell, the costs should come from his pocket lol ^^

Um no. Stream cheating is still completely cheating. Hence the word "cheating" in the term "stream cheating". As stupid as Katu is, don't make light of what Dragon did a long time ago.

reading what HOMM quoted i dont think its that wrong to make such assumptions.

Disgusting.. I'm not watching nor supporting that anymore...

juan has done worse about a billion times, and he's still respected amongst the foreign pro player networks (even though there is a bulky bandwagon of haters).
lastshadow is another.
they don't deserve to be ostracised just because of immaturity. they're good players, and they've rightly earned a lot of respect from other top level players for their skill and ability - which is how we should recognise these players... presumably it's a game measured in skill and ability, not eternal honesty, maturity and being a good sport.
zinedine zidane, legendary footballer. you probably think he's a criminal because once upon a time he broke the rules, headbutted someone and was punished?

This is a re-post from another thread:
Hi everyone, I'm Ryan, one of the founders of Playhem. I'm sorry if the following is sloppy and disorganized -- It's after 3am and was just woken up to my phone pinging with all of the complaint emails we've received due to this incident. However, I think its imperative that I address this immediately.
First and foremost, I must express my sincerest apologies to Dragon, his fans, and our stream viewers that were subject to the distaste apparent in our broadcast tonight. There are no excuses for such behavior, intentions included. However, being a strong believer in the adage, "actions speak louder than words," I'd like to extend an offer to Dragon, and indirectly to his fans, in an attempt to make amends. If his schedule permits, it would be our pleasure to sponsor Dragon at IPL 4 in Vegas -- player pass, hotel, and flight included. We would love for him to represent Playhem at the event, but understand if his preference is otherwise. The offer stands regardless. I can't read or write Korean, so if someone who does would be kind enough to help me contact and communicate with him, please email me at rdesanto@playhem.com.
Over the past year we have found our home in the Starcraft 2 community, for which we are proud and grateful. Without the daily support our players and fans, we would cease to exist. I will admit, this situation was handled improperly, and my apology probably too late. And so, I understand if you ignore my appeal, but please do not let the actions of an individual be representative of Playhem as a whole. All-in-all there are nearly 30 of us who wake up every morning and work into the hours of night with the singular goal of making Playhem something special. If everyone can take a step back from what transpired tonight, I think our true intentions are clear. We are committed to providing quality entertainment to the e-sports community, players of all skills and spectators alike. We <3 e-sports and all those involved, wanting nothing more than to continue showing our support in any way we can.
That said, I do not know what the fair punishment is, yet. I will ask, if a reformed player previously fallen from grace deserves redemption, should a caster not as well? I suppose Katu holds the answer to this question, but ultimately you, the community, will be the judge.
Unfortunately, my role in Playhem distances me from our day to day operations and an active involvement in the e-sports community. Between leading a team of 20 developers, heading up business development, fundraising, and everything else that comes with running a start-up, I'm left with little time to engage in a passion that was the catalyst for founding this company. What's even more unfortunate, is that an event of this nature is what brings me back. I'm truly sorry that any of this happened

Seen this live, thought it was pathetic personally. Stopped watching a few mins after he started this nonsense.
