Honestly, as a tournament organizer that employs Katu for a pair of high profile events, I find myself in a tough position regarding all of this. I think Katu is a fantastic caster with a lot of potential, however some of the things he said, even if unintentionally, were highly inappropriate and unprofessional.
As a response to this action, he will be taking some time off from casting both the EWM and the KSL for the time being. While this leaves me, as a tournament organizer, unable to broadcast the event he was scheduled for today I feel it's a step that needs to be made. I hope our viewers can understand this, and adjust to the revised schedule for this week, where we will broadcast Saturday and Sunday as well, leading up to the LAN finals on Monday.
On the other hand, it's very tough for me to put any support behind Dragon for this issue. Dragon is a past offender, and is allowed his current fan-base as the result of a promise made after he was caught. I think the community needs to realize that, following his apology he reneged on his words and participated in the GSL, caused a commotion, stepped back apologized again, and is now reneging on his words yet again. I think the offer from Playhem to send Dragon to IPL 4, while noble, is the wrong way to respond to an issue regarding a player who should not be participating in any tournaments without at least a public statement saying he is withdrawing his previous verbal contract with the community. It's one thing to stream your play, and earn a little money. Hell, sAviOr He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named was streaming on Afreeca for a while and I don't think many people had a problem with that. Should Dragon choose to accept the trip to IPL 4, I for one will be personally disappointed.
TL;DR: Katu will not be casting my events for the near future, sorry for anyone who was going to tune in today. What Katu did was wrong, and what Dragon is doing is wrong as well. Stop witch-hunting and being biased. Virgil like a boss! May i ask who will be casting the KSL instead? Katu is a decent caster, i enjoy his voice and his commentary but this incident really makes me lose faith in him. Hope that you replace him with another quality caster! Thanks for this clarification on actions taken on him. I don't know who I'm going to have replace Katu for the KSL, or the EWM for that matter. I'm currently open to any suggestions as far as who to take on for the time being, and should someone see this and like to get involved I'd be happy to speak with you via PM.
These actions against Katu are very hard to take, but necessary, as I've been working really hard to help him get his name out there and to make it big. He's a personal friend of mine and I hate to be put in the position where I can't allow him the privilege of being involved with my events.

LOL so your going to punish him for a (situation) that has nothing to do with you or your events? That is absurd and unjust.

It does not really affect me personnaly i dont mind a bit of bashing if its founded as long as you dont take all your casting time just bashing for too long because then it becomes really direspectful and ridiculous and not really appealing for the viewers. In general i like the relaxed ambiance from the casters in general since its not a main event or anything.

I mean dragon went 3 command center vs a roach all-in. When the first batch of roaches and lings arrived at his natural, his reaction was to build ANOTHER command center rofl. Katu proceded to clown on him which Dragon definitely deserved.
There was no direct insult or profanity, no "RAINBOWS A FUCKING FAGGOT!" or anything like that.
Katu definitely implied that Rainbow is a stream cheater and gave background information to support that assertion. Katu then trolled his chat because they all were Rainbow fanboyz who stayed up late to root for him.
Katu should not have apologized in my opinion.
The background information he gave was false. He said that he was banned from tournaments when he isn't. He said he was kicked out of SlayerS for cheating when he wasn't. He said he is a 'known stream cheater', which while nobody can deny that he did so in the past, the context of the statement implies that he has done so recently and/or frequently cheats.
I don't have a problem with him criticizing his play. That's all fair game when you are a caster. But spreading incorrect rumors which can be damaging to a players reputation when they can't even correct it is why I personally am angry.

Thanks in advance. Yeah, but what about your reputation? your sensitivities? your fans that think of you as Don Juan? Your career man!!

After reading the transcript, this has nothing to do with Bonk and everything to do with Katu. I think it's unfair and stupid to criticize an entire tournament based on one employee. This hasn't happened before and there is no sign that this will continue to happen. Take it out on Katu, but don't go on a rant about how evil playhem is when they have handled the situation appropriately.

Butthurt dragon fans pick up torches to hunt caster. He apologised so lets move along to something relevant...not 18 pages of debating if he effed up or not. He was not professional in his casting, true, but tbh you can't expect top tier casting from Playhem(or so i think). They are a small tournament so they have a caster that fits their budget/needs.

Depending on your answer I may call you SOME PRETTY serious names and I will be expelled from casting any UT tournament out there...oh wait...UT's dead...

Chill so funny ...
Taking Katu out from all casting ? KSL , EWM , playhem... Is this for real ?
|
Implying that he was stream-cheating was definitely unprofessional. Still, if a player has been caught stream-cheating in the past, it is not bashing them to simply state it. But hinting at cheating without substantial evidence is a pretty petty attack on someone's reputation.
Interested to see that Playhem is willing to sponsor Dragon to IPL 4. Not sure if he will accept though.

That's not how it works.. I'd hate to live in your legal system Besides, how on earth would you prove that you AREN'T stream cheating? Could you please read this carefully? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presumption_of_innocenceTLDR: The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of the Council of Europe says (art. 6.2): "Everyone charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law" Yeah, thats kind of my point.. are you responding to me or the guy i quoted?
The guy you quoted.
And to answer another one. No I am not implying that stream cheating is a criminal offence.... Don't be so .......

Virgil, I appreciate what you're trying to do but the SC community is all bark and no bite. Take Katu out for a week, everyone will forget, and then put him back in. This is the smallest deal in the world and doesn't requier a huge damage control campaign.

Seems to be real. But it's fucking stupid. Tournament organizers etc give to much credit to reddit shitstorms. The guy apologized, Dragon gets 1000+++ Dollars for DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I mean, what is this? Are all organisations in the future obliged to compensate "victims" of thoughtless chatter on the Internet. Come on.

No offense taken, I jut simply wont watch EWM/KSL. Savvy?
I honestly dont know which is worse... The community who is full of drama queens and redditers, or tournament organizers like virgil here who take no consideration into the fact that this just might of been the VOCAL MINORITY.
Shame on you.
