What a saint you are to not only the economy but to the moral justice of the internets. keep fighting the good fight! I don't think you know what "white knight" means. Anyway, I didn't pay or watch, but that is due to my decreasing interest in watching SC2 as a whole. But I can say for sure that if I really did want to watch it, I definitely wouldn't pay $20. I find that to be an unreasonable given how almost all sc2 events will be shown free of charge. Also, there is also a risk of the service being subpar, given the state of online streaming, which would definitely make it not worth the price. For instance see the people in this thread complaining about lag and issues with the stream, especially during the most important times. I'm not saying it must be free, but it comes off as greedy to some people when you go from providing your tournaments free to providing it for a high price (higher than GSL.) Some people here have been quick to get angry at all of the people that "stole" the product, but there can be numerous reasons as to why the $20 would be completely unreasonable for them, and you'll find a lot of valid complaints while reading through the entire thread. I would mainly attribute this to MLG not providing a proper service to a lot of the customers, but there will always be people who will avoid paying no matter what. Those that do not pay will not be the majority though because a lot of people are happy with receiving what they believe is a good price for a good product. It's a bit funny how MLG screwed up so badly in trying to keep out people who didn't pay. They deserve some blame for that. If it was worth $20 to you, great! If not, oh well.

I would cut MLG some slack on the paywall issues, they probably had the expectation that twitch wouldn't be full retard. I'm sure they are not happy, if they use twitch again for the next PPV event though, it will be entirely on them. For those saying twitch is the best out there, that is bullshit. Who does ESPN and Direct TV use for streaming? I've never had a problem with either. The only thing that makes twitch more attractive is accessibility and perhaps cost, but if they can't be trusted to work a paywall or deliver a consistent stream, they should be dropped by professional organizations like MLG.

Though this should not be an excuse for people to cheat, MLG brought this upon themselves.

Well yeah I guess. In hindsight they probably should have tested it a bit. I'm not too big a fan of twitch.tv, so wouldn't mind seeing them or other tournaments try a different streaming service as long as it's not too much of an annoyance for the viewer.

Things that made it worth it: Tastosis, very good players, getting to see some of the casters in a more relaxed atmosphere, getting to see a blizzard esports worker casting while someone DCs on their awesome b.net 0.2 system. things that made me very annoyed: lag on the stream, 1080p being nearly unwarrantable because of twitch.tv, constantly having to log in. And most importantly the biggest annoyance: the fact that the paywall didn't work, and that now we have a bunch of kids who watched for free who feel entitled to brag about it and go "yeah i watched for free definitely not worth it" I honestly wish the TL mods would take a more firm stance on doing something about all the people acting entitled about working a way around the payed stream, since as it is with reading this thread it almost seems that TL condones the act of getting around the paywall by not doing anything about all the people trying to brag about it.

I pay for GSL. I paid for the two last Homestory Cups. To me the content just isnt worth the $20. Why I'm happy I didnt pay: -The casting. Sheth and Grubby were a breath of fresh air (but they were kept on the sidelines, apparently they cant pointlessly scream/fake emotions enough to make it to the big stage), the others were very disappointing. JP/Wheat/Rob/Tasteless werent insightful nor entertaining. Tasteless seemed sick or something, never seen him this bad. I think we reached a new low with that abysmal JP + Wheat combo I hope to never witness again. Even Artosis got on my nerves with his general bias against MKP and his complete cluelessness in the final game of the finals wich added to the awkwardness of the moment. I realise this is more of SC2-Casting scene problem as a whole than MLG specifically, but you are selling this as a $20 PPV, the standards are different than your usual tournament. -The production as a whole wasnt anything special. Players in front of a light source made player-cameras useless, you could feel the space was small with those weird camera switches during roundtables. In the absence of a crowd there wasnt much to film to produce the MLG "wow effect" the regular circuit has (again, it culminated in the finals with the one guy slowclapping when MKP won) nothing worth $20 there, I would argue Assembly did better. -4 concurrent streams seems like a great feature, but in reality you still end up missing a lot. It just feels wrong to me for some reason, like you have to do the job of MLG because they cant find a more viewer-friendly tournament format. People buy UFC PPVs because its a well polished product you can enjoy by just sitting your fat ass in the couch for 2hours drinking beer and eating chips, not changing camera angles/switching fights all night. They showcase a limited number of fights for a reason. -The extended series rule has to go, it really takes from the potential excitement of some matches by removing rounds. By miracle the final wasnt affected but it happened already and its just not acceptable. This is not Halo. Something else that is not acceptable : BO3 Quarters and Semis. Just terrible, really kills a lot of the entertainment value, the matches didnt feel special at all. The only thing I thought was worth paying for was the player list, but I dont care for foreigner vs Korean drama, I just want high level games, and I get that already from my GSL ticket for half the price. There, just my 2cents, dont get all butthurt aboot it.
