I bet GOM intentionally set this up to make MLG look good, as a covert apology for shitting on MLG with the Code S seed for providence being reallocated in Blizzard Cup without telling anyone involved.

...
Well no I suppose not, but the conspiracy theorist in me likes the idea.

Good job MLG! This was much needed positive PR for you.

Wow... MLG got hosed... at least split the cost.

And sure GSL has things set up all year, but the games arent made until they are needed. I would have just shuffled the players games around to accomodate everybody.

shows how MLG takes care of the players. Just took a short preview of the stream... might support winter arena now...

on a more serious note. this looks to me like "if you want esports to survive balbalbalbalba"

MLG did something good and now I feel bad for not buying PPV ? not me!

I wasn't going to buy a winter arena pass, but I'm thinking about it now. Classy move MLG.

In any case, good move by MLG! I'm sure you won some points with the koreans.

I don't understand how you can blame GSL for all of this. They had everyday of 2012 planned for what match was going to be shown that day. It's neither tournaments fault.

No, GSL doesn't.

I'm guessing that the Koreans pros thought that they were going to play later on in the week. They didn't know the exact date they would be playing until today.

This is all GSL's fault imo. I don't think MLG should be paying the price. MLG is going to lose a big amount of coverage, and changing flights will cost MLG a lot of extra money too.

Yes, MLG should pay for this.

The reason is simple, MLG is a much less important tournament. It's a bit like if you invited Messi to play in your neighborhood team and then he had to cancel because of Champions League. Obviously a bit exaggerated but the fundamentals are still there. The Koreans are basically doing MLG a favor by coming there.

MLG is so awesome. The problem had nothing to do with them, but they still took their own money and helped the players out. :D

MLG should pay for this, WHAT?!?!? MLG planned ahead, talked to teams and booked the flights that the players wanted. MLG did everything they could to avoid this and GSL picks a early date for the matches when they could of picked a later date. This is GSL's fault not MLG.... It is just disrespectful, with a company you have a partnership with.

Err, no, not at all. Also your analogy is basically anti-truth. It doesn't parallel the facts in any regard.

I really hope this doesn't affect Mvp's code a match. If he gets knocked out I will be so depressed

Awesome (and pricey!) move by MLG, I wish that GSL had rescheduled these matches or had them played early.

In my opinion its the player responsability to make sure the events he chooses to participate dont conflict with each other... They didnt.. Well, nice move by MLG!

Uhm, no. They don't leave Korea in the middle of the GSL to do anyone "a favor", that's absurd. They come to MLG because they think it's worth it. MLG is being very generous to pay for these flights so that the players don't miss their GSL matches.

LoL? Then why are so many Koreans trying to land on foreign teams and get out of the stagnating professional SC2 scene in Korea? ONE TOURNAMENT that's HARD doesn't counteract the fact that these guys have the capability to win all the money of the foreign tournaments without winning a single GSL...and still have more money and prestige after the fact.

This move is inexcusable by the GSL and GOM. The players are physically in America and they only just now find out about their schedule? Less than a week in advance? GOM is begging to cause accidents like this with exactly this sort of poor planning and should absolutely cover the cost of players returning from MLG - in fact, no plane flights should have been changed at all, GOM should have rescheduled the matches. This sort of hubris by the Koreans creates bad blood in the esports community and is not for the overall best of the sport. I hope we see an announcement from GOM in the near future addressing the concern.
