We still don't have confirmation on whether TL requested a sum approximately $10k or not. Yes they denied the $10k figure but that doesn't mean they weren't asking for $9999.99.

I was going to watch MLG arena with a bunch of friends. Unfortunately one of the friends got the start time wrong (partly due to the difference with time zones). Everyone trusted him and didn't check. Now our venue is unavailable for 3 hours right in the middle of the broadcast. If the calendar had it, we probably would've realised the mistake in time to fix it. Screwed up my plans completely.
For me, the calendar isn't for advertisement it's for convenience. Don't like TL's stance on this. That said if the money they eventually might make get's used on improving the site I don't mind as much. I'd prefer it if paying events were included and able to be hidden or displayed with a toggle or with saved user settings.

I didn't really care but I was considering to get the MLG since it has a way better line up and some recent details really show it's not an ordinary event. However now that we are sort of in that weekend it is like the event doesn't exist. As if nobody is watching it, like it's irrelevant. It makes me not want to watch it live anymore and just try and check out a few of the good matches later.
The only thing I can think up for why TL feels like it has to do this move is because of the precident that is set if they continue to allow it. In the future if there are many more PPV stream it seems only natural that they will have to charge them, otherwise the TL platform gets "abused". If that is the case right now is arguable but the underlying principle would still be the same.
It is arguable because I feel featuring the stream and merely listing the tournament as a fact are a bit different. One is much more promoting than the other. And with the case of listing it in the calender as an event it questions what I thought the calender represented. It is filtering or censorship. Something TL has always been very transparent in not doing. Like a closed thread that is still visible, how about grayed out text and unclickable MLG calender listing.
As said before the purpose of the calender is now to list free starcraft events. Not list starcraft events. I probably don't agree with that vision but I can't say I disagree either.
Guess my main point of writing this is just from a spectator that it makes me want to watch MLG much less because it feels like it doesn't exist.
