Should go without saying, but don't link restreams here either. |

Well played sir, well played. Just one comment, there is always a smart guy who will research burrow and tunneling claws and will watch the stream, and would be very intelligent to spread the creep around reddit...having known fairly well that MLG doesnt have a robo for detection
To be fair, if MLG packages it like IPL4 did...They will have my money

The annoying thing with 'more than expected' is that we don't get any numbers and it could be a massive exaggeration. Transperancy is something which isn't seen enough in e-sports.

I paid last time. I was incredibly disappointed by the quality, more than I ever imagined. Obviously I won't be paying again. The only thing that would win my business back would be release of all replays to paying customers only; that would sell me for 10, even 20 dollars a ticket.
|
I was extremely disappointed when i found out that my gold membership does not cover the new arena tourneys. I paid so i can watch all the mlgs for a year or so..The most disappointing thing though is the lack of a free stream (correct me if i m wrong please, i havent followed sc2 for around 3 months now)
I didnt mind the laggy streams and the horrible hours for EU but i wont pay again.

Considering that it would be impossible to keep replays to members only I think MLG knows that that would be a perk in name only, as replays would be shared with nonmembers

This really frustrates me. I know restreams exist but they're not of the same quality and frankly, it's absurd that I should have to pay to watch ads anyway. MLG is a fantastic competition, but forcing viewers to pay is strangling e-Sports when it should be growing the fastest.
No.

I've paid for MLG since they started their paid services, but Im not paying them another dollar ever again. What is it about this particular tournament that requires them to charge so much more money than anyone else?

So am I the only one who just got home and can't watch the the PPV because it's saying I don't have an Spring Pass?

A gold membership alone doesn't give you a spring pass. if you bought a spring pass you should have gotten an email with a code in it, put that into twitch to watch.

How come MLG is allowed to list their PPV-only stream on tl-calendar again?

think TL said that if MLG wants the stream listed, they have to pay to have it listed there since their event is PPV
so I'm guessing MLG is paying TL to list the stream

I just need to make a point here,
if they host a tournament and they dont have enough sponsor money so that the viewers need to pay to watch the games they shouldnt host a tournament at all. Just my opinion. The sponsors are there to sponsor so we (the viewers) dont have to pay and so there are prizemoney, production salary and travelmoney for the players. Thats at least how it works normally what I know..

They sent me the code again, but thank you sir.

The amount of self-entitlement in this thread is astounding.
If you don't think the product they produce is worth your money, don't buy it.
But MLG has every right to charge money for their product.

No. They aren't forcing you to do anything. They are providing a product which you can pay for or not. There is no ads on stream.

They support a product (an MLG arena in this case) to further their own brand and increase exposure and hopefully revenue. The PPV model for these events exists to make it self-sustaining without the need to completely rely on brands wanting to always support the product. They have every right to host a tournament and charge for it, just as you have every right to watch it and pay for it if you think it is worth it.
I know what I'm saying is not new and has been said in threads like these a million times. But it's just bizarre to me how entitled people feel towards getting E-sports products for free.

Just like MLG is entitled to have tournaments that cost money, we as customers are entitled to have an opinion about it. While I in many ways agree with you, I still think this is a crappy way to do things by MLG. I think its borderline arrogant that they don't even provide a 360p stream of the main stage to their own Gold customers. Its absurd, and Im never paying them a single dollar again.

Pretty ridiculous to make this one PPV, especially since there's no crowd and there's only 8 players. But they apparently made a lot of money last time, so why wouldn't they?
