If so people expecting up/down matches to be part of the November ticket is clearly understandable and expected. TBH this can only hurt GOM as people are not going to buy a 2012 season pass just to watch the up/down matches but there maybe people who will decide not to pay GOM because of something like this.

The Up/Down matches this week are all free in HQ. Yes, GOM originally had the Up/Down as part of the Nov season but changed the format once again so that every season next year begins with Up/Down.

Every tournament in 2011 included the up and down matches, and people, myself included, bought a GSL NOV pass with the understanding that the up and downs were part of the package, as they always were. Changing the format AFTER people have to committed to paying for something is not ok. How would that be OK in any other situation? You get what you pay for, you cannot go back onto something that has already been exchanged for and think it is OK. This is a serious problem. You cannot alter the specifications of a deal AFTER the deal has been made. How do people not understand this? Are you serious? This is not a defensible business move. It was deceitful and misleading. It was wrong. I paid for GSL November, Code A, Code S, and the Up and Downs, and AFTER I paid for it, the deal was changed, and now the GSL is double charging for the Up and Downs. Having said that, I'm not really that upset, I'll happily support GSL either way, just a bummer that I am not getting what I paid for. Oh well.

Considering that GSL November uses the new format except with some changes (next season bo3) i don't see how that is possible.

But if what people are saying in this thread is true, and the VODS for the current up/down matches are no longer included in the November package... well then GOM has some explaining to do. I'm not buying a 2012 ticket, so it's sort of irrelevant to me, but it would REALLY hurt esports if the largest and most lucrative esports tournament in the world pulled something like this.

They could have done that warning with the start of the annual pass advertising. Otherwise by itself, it does make a lot of sense, because the November tournament is finished, and the yearly tournament (Blizzard cup) is finished. The up/down is part of a tournament that finishes in January, so it counts towards it. On December 20 2011 04:47 Hibahihi wrote: It seems like this week up and down is part of the next season in 2012. http://www.gomtv.net/forum/view.gom?topicid=208740&cid=0&kind=8 Up&Down Matches A total of 30 players will compete for 10 spots in Code S. These players consist of 16 players who lost in the Code A Ro 32, 12 players who lost in the Code A Ro24 and 2 seeded players. 5 groups of 6 people will be formed. All players in a group play each other. The Top 2 of each group will advance to Code S, the rest will be Code A for next season. For the 2012 series the season now always starts with the Up&Down matches, the first season of 2012 will therefore begin in late December of 2011 with the first batch of Up&Down matches.

the graphic itself in that thread is very misleading, up/down is presented as the end.

A free hq stream isn't useful to me either... I buy the ticket because I can't watch gsl live at all. I'll have to reconsider buying a ticket for next year now, because obviously I can't be sure what I'm getting into, whether all promised seasons will happen etc.

I was excited about the Up/Down matches, but now I'm just upset.

Also, that 2011 image is incorrect for the November season. 15 * 5 = 75 (normally) Although since there are two vacant spots (coca and 1 invite not being given out) its actually 10 * 2 + 3 * 15 = 65 this time. On the main topic, they very clearly said gsl nov ended dec 7th, not dec 23rd. you should've known these were part of the new season. not to mention the HD stream is free for these (i guess they should've made the VODs free too) but really this is an insane overreaction.
